    Statistical Analysis of Joint Type-I Generalized Hybrid Censoring Data From Burr XII Lifetime Distributions.Mahmoud Ragab, Aisha Fayomi, Ali Algarni, G. A. Abd-Elmougod, Neveen Sayed-Ahmed, S. M. Abo-Dahab & S. Abdel-Khalek - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-15.
The quality of the products coming from different lines of production requires some tests called comparative life tests. For lines having the same facility, the lifetime of the product is distributed by Burr XII, the lifetime distribution, and units are tested under type-I generalized hybrid censoring scheme. The observed censoring data are used under maximum likelihood and the Bayes method to estimate the model parameters. The theoretical results are discussed and assessed through data analysis and Monte Carlo simulation study. Finally, (...)

II. Abdülhamid döneminden itibaren matbu takvim sayısında hızlı bir artış meydana gelmiş, Türkçe, Arapça, Fransızca, Sırpça, Ermenice, Rumca, İbranice, İspanyolca, Bulgarca vd. dillerde pek çok takvim hazırlanmıştır. Were You a Zygote?: G. E. M. Anscombe.G. E. M. Anscombe - 1984 - Royal Institute of Philosophy Supplement 18:111-115.
The usual way for new cells to come into being is by division of old cells. So the zygote, which is a—new—single cell formed from two, the sperm and ovum, is an exception. Textbooks of human genetics usually say that this new cell is beginning of a new human individual. What this indicates is that they suddenly forget about identical twins.

    Wittgenstein: Whose Philosopher?: G. E. M. Anscombe.G. E. M. Anscombe - 1990 - Royal Institute of Philosophy Supplement 28:1-10.
One of the ways of dividing all philosophers into two kinds is by saying of each whether he is an ordinary man's philosopher or a philosophers' philosopher. Thus Plato is a philosophers' philosopher and Aristotle an ordinary man's philosopher. This does not depend on being easy to understand: a lot of Aristotle's Metaphysics is immensely difficult. Nor does being a philosophers' philosopher imply that an ordinary man cannot enjoy the writings, or many of them. Plato invented and exhausted a form: (...)

Twitter is a virtual social network where people share their posts and opinions about the current situation, such as the coronavirus pandemic. It is considered the most significant streaming data source for machine learning research in terms of analysis, prediction, knowledge extraction, and opinions. Sentiment analysis is a text analysis method that has gained further significance due to social networks’ emergence. Therefore, this paper introduces a real-time system for sentiment prediction on Twitter streaming data for tweets about the coronavirus pandemic. (...)

    The New Theory of Forms.G. E. M. Anscombe - 1966 - The Monist 50 (3):403-420.
I want to suggest that Plato arrived at a revised theory of forms in the later dialogues. Or perhaps I might rather say that he constructed a new underpinning for the theory. This can be discerned, I believe, in the Sophist, taken together with certain parts of the dialectic of the Parmenides which use the same language as the Sophist.

These remarks, which span the last eighteen months of Wittgenstein’s life, extend several of his well known themes from his so-called "later" writings. One such theme, which occurs as a unifying leitmotiv in this work, is that philosophical puzzlement arises from a failure to realize the indefiniteness and complexity of our concepts. Herein it takes the form of the claim that we have not one but several concepts of color. In fact, we have as many concepts of color as we (...)

    Essays in Legal and Moral Philosophy. [REVIEW]G. M. - 1976 - Review of Metaphysics 29 (3):550-551.
This volume contains papers in which Hans Kelsen addresses a number of philosophical issues that are crucial to his defense of the pure theory of law. Although it includes some papers appearing in English for the first time, this collection differs little in scope or substance from an earlier one, What is Justice? Kelsen’s legal theory has raised the ire of critics because they believe it separates far too sharply law from ethics. In these papers, especially those written in recent (...)

The book, volume 42 in the Boston Studies in the Philosophy of Science, consists principally of two interconnected essays in theoretical biology. The first, entitled "Biology of Cognition," was written in 1969 by Humberto R. Maturana, a Chilean neurophysiologist and anatomist whose earlier work included studies of vision in birds and the frog. The second essay, "Autopoiesis: the Organization of the Living," is an expansion of certain sections in the first and was written in 1972 by Maturana and Francisco J. (...)

Die Atomistik Bei Hegel Und Die Atomtheorie der Physik. [REVIEW]J. G. M. - 1979 - Review of Metaphysics 33 (1):167-168.
In his treatment of the One and the Many in the Science of Logic, is Hegel talking about atoms? He is and is not. He discusses critically the atoms and the void of the ancients as part of his own presentation of a being-for-self One from which the Many purportedly derive. The void of the ancients is seen by Hegel as the ground of movement, but not in the representational sense as affording "room," in which case it would be a (...)

Context: Josef Mitterer has become known for criticizing the main exponents of analytic and constructivist philosophy for their blind adoption of a dualistic epistemology based on an alleged ontological difference between world and words. Judith Butler, who has developed an influential model of (de)constructivist feminism and has been labeled a linguistic constructivist, has been criticized for sustaining exactly what, according to Mitterer, most modern philosophy fails to acknowledge: namely that there is no ontological difference between objective facts beyond language and (...)

The extent of information in ICFs has been the subject of debates for decades; however, no clear guidance is given. It contains valuable discussions of Anselm, Kant, Hegel, and Meinong, culminating in an appraisal of the Strawson-Russell feud about the status of the legendary present King of France. The book is a sustained argument for the following claims: that existence is what Bradford calls a non-determining property; that it is a concept; and, finally that, yes, there are nonexistent (...)

In the process following the separation of the ancient period from mythology and its evolution into a systematic philosophy the great master of the Elea school, Parmenides, constructed his thoughts with theses that were the exact opposite of his time and perhaps common sense in general. His famous poem On Nature, in the light of the logical principles, inferences and analyzes it contains, has profoundly affected both epistemology in terms of structure and possibility, and ontologies within the framework of time, (...)

In the West, one might say that understanding Sufism is a difficult task. Without authentic information and deep empathy, one has to contend with only the language about Sufism. The words cut off from the Sufi practices represent a simulacrum of Sufism, not its reality. In this thoroughly researched book, Sedgwick is confident enough as a historian to start from Plotinus and end with Ian Dallas and John G. Research about the role of religion in entrepreneurship and more broadly management is sparse. In this conceptual article, we complement existing entrepreneurship theory by examining entrepreneurship from an Islamic perspective. EIP is based on three interconnected pillars: the entrepreneurial, socio-economic/ethical, and religio-spiritual. We outline how Islam shapes entrepreneurship at the micro-, meso-, and macro-level, indicate how Islam may be considered an entrepreneurial religion in the sense that it enables and encourages entrepreneurial activity, review research streams interlinking Islam with entrepreneurship and (...)

Annotations have an important function in understanding the works written in the classical period. As well as the field of language, information related to many basic fields is given in the poetry annotations under a single couplet. Poetry annotations are remarkable with these features. Many works have been written about Mohammad ibn Sa‘îd al-Bûsîrî’s Qasîdah Al-Hamziyah. The oldest annotation of the eulogy that we can obtain is the work of Mohammad al-Jawjarî called Khayr al-Qira fî Sharh Umm al-Qura. In the (...)

Chapter 1 brings into focus the historical context of Jung's discussion by briefly examining the understanding of the unconscious in the work of four leading figures in late 19th century psychology: Wilhelm Wundt, Pierre Janet, Theodore Flournoy, and Sigmund Freud. First, the theory is based on concrete, real, actual, and significant instances of inductive reasoning, e.g., Karl von Frisch’s work on bees; that is, though its aim is genuinely theoretical in the sense that it engages in the proper amounts of idealization, abstraction, (...)

İbn Sîn'’Nın Eş-Şif': Metafizik 1/8’de Sofistlerle Tartışma Ve Dış Karşısında Zihnin Araçsallaşması.Ömer Ali Yildirim - forthcoming - Cumhuriyet İlahiyat Dergisi.
Bu çalışma İbn Sînâ’nın eş-Şifâ: Metafizik kitabının birinci makalesinin sekizinci faslını odağına alma amacındadır. Söz konusu fasıldaki sofistlere dair yapılan incelemenin metafizik ilmi açısından gerekliliği, zihni arka planı, burada kullanılan yöntem ve tercih edilen bu yöntemin gerekçelerini belirlemeye çalıştım. Filozofun buradaki ibarelerinin gönderme yaptığı teori, tartışma ve ilkeleri yakalamaya ve bunların felsefe tarihindeki izlerini bulmaya gayret ettim. Bu fasıldaki sorunlarla benzer meselelerin ele alındığı Aristoteles’in Metafizik kitabındaki görüşler arasındaki irtibata da yer vermeye çalıştım. Makalede, amaçlanan tahlili yapabilmek için İbn Sînâ’nın (...)

  46. A Mixed Methods Study On Technology Competencies of 4-6 Age Quran Course Teachers.

    Comments on Taylor's Theses.Roderick Firth, Richard B. Brandt, Carl G. Hempel, Roderick M. Chisholm & Donald Walhout - 1954 - Review of Metaphysics 7 (4):681 - 689.
    1. If Taylor's first two proposals are accepted, we must introduce a term to replace "know" in a familiar, but weaker, sense of the word. In ordinary speech it is correct to say that I know that p, even if my conviction that p might be somewhat increased by further evidence. In Taylor's stronger sense of "know" and "knowledge," it is doubtful that we have much, if any, knowledge. For even if we sometimes have evidence which is conclusive, and which (...)

  48. The Right to Lie: Kant on Dealing with Evil.Christine M. Korsgaard - 1986 - Philosophy and Public Affairs 15 (4):325-349.
One of the great difficulties with Kant’s moral philosophy is that it seems to imply that our moral obligations leave us powerless in the face of evil. Kant’s theory sets a high ideal of conduct and tells us to live up to that ideal regardless of what other persons are doing. The results may be very bad. But Kant says that the law "remains in full force, because it commands categorically" (G, 438-39/57).* The most weI1—known example of...

Many-Dimensional Modal Logics: Theory and Applications.Dov M. Gabbay (ed.) - 2003 - Elsevier North Holland.
Modal logics, originally conceived in philosophy, have recently found many applications in computer science, artificial intelligence, the foundations of mathematics, linguistics and other disciplines. Celebrated for their good computational behaviour, modal logics are used as effective formalisms for talking about time, space, knowledge, beliefs, actions, obligations, provability, etc. However, the nice computational properties can drastically change if we combine some of these formalisms into a many-dimensional system, say, to reason about knowledge bases developing in time or moving objects. To study (...)
