    This essay explores thematic overlaps in Jacques Derrida's writings on hospitality and stories of hospitality told by Balga Bedouin in Jordan. Why do these overlaps exist? What produces them? What can these likenesses tell us about the relationship between hospitality, politics and moral reasoning? Juxtaposing an exemplary Jordanian tale of hospitality with motifs and claims central to Derrida's work, I argue that a shared and second language pervades this material.
