Religião e feminismo descolonial: os protagonismos e os novos agenciamentos religiosos das mulheres no século XXI.Anete Roese - 2015 - Horizonte 13 (39):1534-1558.
Religions and the research about them were significantly affected by the feminist practices and studies in the twentieth century. In the religious context that has been presented in this third millennium, marked by the autonomy of women and their role in society, further studies are necessary to understand the religious phenomenon that occurs in the silent protagonism of women. One has to ask how to research and to think religion from a feminist perspective at this time; what religion is for (...)

A busca pelo espiritual e a busca de sentido no mundo contemporâneo (The search for the spiritual and the search for meaning in the contemporary world) - DOI: 10.5752/P.2175-5841.2013v11n32p1605. [REVIEW]Anete Roese - 2013 - Horizonte 11 (32):1605-1636.

    Crianças E Guerra: As Balas perdidas!Anete Abramowicz - 2020 - Childhood and Philosophy 16 (36):01-14.
This essay seeks to answer the questions of which children in the contemporary world have been targeted and killed "unintentionally”or "at random" by the Brazilian State. In order to understand the place of children in this “war” we rely on the work, among others, of Achille Mbembe, Maurizio Lazzarato and Peter Pál Pelbart. Our text is structured in six sections. First, we take up the concepts of biopolitics, biopower and necropolitics, in an attempt to specify the type of governmental power (...)

Beyond rationality: Counterfactual thinking and behavior regulation.Kai Epstude & Neal J. Roese - 2007 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 30 (5-6):457-458.
Counterfactual thinking may be described as disciplined, realistic, and rational, but we move a step further to describe a theoretical perspective centering on behavior regulation. According to this perspective, counterfactual thinking primarily centers on coordination of ongoing behavior. In short, most “if only” thoughts in daily life center on the acquisition of goals; hence, counterfactual thinking may be illuminated by considering the large literature on goal cognition.

(Not so) positive illusions.Justin Kruger, Steven Chan & Neal Roese - 2009 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 32 (6):526-527.
We question a central premise upon which the target article is based. Namely, we point out that the evidence for is in fact quite mixed. As such, the question of whether positive illusions are adaptive from an evolutionary standpoint may be premature in light of the fact that their very existence may be an illusion.

    Towards a Postcolonial-storytelling Theory of Management and Organisation.Kenneth Jorgensen, Anete Strand & David Boje - 2013 - Philosophy of Management 12 (1):43-66.
A contribution to management philosophy is made here by the development of a postcolonial-storytelling theory, created by drawing together parallel developments in quantum physics and tribal peoples’ storytelling. We argue that these developments resituate the hegemonic relationship of discursive representationalism over material storytelling practices. Implications are two-fold. First, this dissolves inherent dualisms presumed in the concept of interactionamong entities like actor–structure, subject–object and discursive–nondiscursive in favour of a profound ontology of entanglement and intra-action of materiality and discourse, where storytelling is (...)

Die Christusnarratief in die film As it is in heaven.Anet Elizabeth Dreyer-Kruger - 2014 - HTS Theological Studies 70 (3):01-10.
In this article the public-theological motives in the film As it is in heaven is analised to demonstrate the film producer Kay Pollack's ideal to communicate through the film that people should live their lives here and now authentically without seeking excuses for being happy. In this article the principles of narratology is applied in the analysis of the film's plot, characterisation, plotted time and narrated spaces. It is also argued that the protagonist in the film can be regarded as (...)

  25. What We Regret Most Are Lost Opportunities: A Theory of Regret Intensity.Keith Markman, Denise Beike & Figen Karadogan - 2009 - Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin 35 (3):385-397.
A recent theory (Roese & Summerville, 2005) has suggested that regret is intensified by perceptions of future opportunity. In this work, however, it is proposed that feelings of regret are more likely elicited by perceptions of lost opportunity: People regret outcomes that could have been changed in the past but can no longer be changed and for which people experience low psychological closure. Consistent with the lost opportunity principle, Study 1 revealed that regretted experiences in the most commonly regretted (...)

Of Love and Music in Book 5 of Rousseau's the Confessions.Üner Daglier - 2023 - Philosophy and Literature 47 (2):265-279.
Abstract:In book 5 of his historically controversial autobiography, the Confessions, Jean-Jacques Rousseau describes his involvement in a perfectly harmonious ménage à trois centered around the charming Mme. de Warens. Despite his assertions to the contrary, however, the text indicates that Rousseau harbored jealous feelings and banked on Mme. de Warens's passion for music to gain an edge over his rival, Claude Anet. But Rousseau's apparently sincere denial of jealous feelings and lost hold over Mme. de Warens's romantic imagination after Anet's (...)
