Arendt a écrit deux volumes dédiés à la pensée et la volonté qui sont réunis dans le texte La vie de l’esprit, mais en raison de sa mort inopportune, son travail consacré au jugement, et plus spécialement au jugement politique, n’a jamais été achevé. Cependant, nous disposons d’une quantité significative d’écrits sur ce thème, provenant de ses conférences sur la troisième Critique de Kant. Le jugement et la pensée sont essentiels pour empêcher ce qu’Arendt appelle «la banalité du mal». En (...) s’inspirant de saint Augustin et du travail d’Arendt sur Augustin, cet article entend démontrer qu’une autre forme de mal sérieux trouve sa racine dans ce qu’Augustin appelle la libido habendi et la libido dominandi, le désir ou la pulsion de dominer et posséder. Nous essaierons de montrer que la solution d’Arendt au problème de la banalité du mal peut aussi s’appliquer au désir et au plaisir très humains de causer ou d’infliger du mal. (shrink)
La verdad muda del cuerpo ofrece tanto una aproximación multidisciplinar a las herramientas y conceptos legados por Michel Foucault a los conocidos como estudios sociales de la medicina, como una visión de conjunto sobre la centralidad de la propia medicina y la psiquiatría y su influencia en la obra del pensador francés. Este compendio proporciona así una panorámica crítica sobre algunos de los temas siempre recurrentes en el corpus foucaultiano: las estrechas líneas que separan la enfermedad mental de la cordura; (...) la medicina como un agente privilegiado de control social en nuestras sociedades; las construcciones sobre lo normal y lo patológico, tantas veces emanadas de concepciones morales ocultadas por el discurso médico; la connivencia entre las ciencias del cuerpo y la mente y las estrategias capitalistas; etc. De la mano de algunos de los mejores conocedores del pensamiento de Foucault, historiadores y filósofos de la medicina, antropólogos de la salud y sociólogos médicos, este libro aspira así a achicar ese inmenso espacio, el que se refiere a Foucault y la medicina, que en lengua española no encontraba hasta hoy una obra de referencia. This book examines the human ability to participate in moments of joint feeling. It presents an answer to the question concerning the nature of our faculty to share in what might be called episodes of collective affective intentionality. The proposal develops the claim that our capacity to participate in such episodes is grounded in an ability central to our human condition: our capacity to care with one another about certain things. The author provides a phenomenologically adequate account of collective affective (...) intentionality that takes seriously the idea that feelings are at the core of our emotional relation to the world. He details a form of group emotional orientation that relies on the fact that the participating individuals have come to share a number of concerns. Readers will learn that at the heart of a collective affective intentional episode, one does not merely find a set of shared concerns, but also a particular mode of caring. In the end, the argument presented in this monograph makes plausible the idea that the emotions through which humans participate in moments of affective intentional community express our nature. In addition, it shows that the debate on collective affective intentionality also permits us to better understand the relationship between two conflicting philosophical pictures of ourselves: the idea that we are essentially social beings and the claim that we are creatures for whom our personal existence is an issue. Thus, aiming at an elucidation of the nature of our ability to feel together, the book offers a detailed account of what it is to situationally express our human nature by caring about something in a properly joint manner.
