Chaotic Behaviors in a Nonlinear Game of Two-Level Green Supply Chain with Government Subsidies.Chang-Feng Zhu & Qing-Rong Wang - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-12.
In this paper, a two-level green supply chain composed of a manufacturer and a retailer is taken as the background. Considering the consumer’s double consumption preference and the manufacturer’s green product R&D investment, a differential game model of the green supply chain under the government cost subsidy strategy is constructed. Firstly, the equilibrium points of the system are solved and their stability is discussed and analyzed. Secondly, the dynamic evolution process of Nash equilibrium under the parameters of green degree, green (...)

Prediction of Fish Migration Caused by Ocean Warming Based on SARIMA Model.Feng Xu, Yu-Ang Du, Hong Chen & Jia-Ming Zhu - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-9.
Herring and mackerel are two of the most important pillars of Scottish fisheries. In recent years, global warming has caused a gradual rise in ocean temperatures. In order to survive and reproduce, herring and mackerel populations will migrate. This will have a huge impact on Scotland’s fisheries. Therefore, we need to predict the relocation of fish stocks in advance, make timely adjustments to the fishing range, and minimize the loss of the fishing industry. In this article, we subdivide the research (...)

Dynamical Regulation of mRNA Distribution by Cross-Talking Signaling Pathways.Chunjuan Zhu, Guosheng Han & Feng Jiao - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-11.
Gene transcription is a random process in single cells manifested by the observed distribution of mRNA copy numbers in homogeneous cell populations. A central question is to understand how mRNA distribution is modulated under environmental changes. In this work, we initiate a theoretical study on mRNA distribution dynamics for the stochastic transcription model that involves cross-talking signaling pathways to direct gene activation in response to external signals. We first express the distribution in mathematical dynamical formulas under both moderate and high (...)

Adaptive Hybrid Soft-Sensor Model of Grinding Process Based on Regularized Extreme Learning Machine and Least Squares Support Vector Machine Optimized by Golden Sine Harris Hawk Optimization Algorithm.Wei Xie, Jie-Sheng Wang, Cheng Xing, Sha-Sha Guo, Meng-wei Guo & Ling-Feng Zhu - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-26.
Soft-sensor technology plays a vital role in tracking and monitoring the key production indicators of the grinding and classifying process. Least squares support vector machine, as a soft-sensor model with strong generalization ability, can be used to predict key production indicators in complex grinding processes. The traditional crossvalidation method cannot obtain the ideal structure parameters of LSSVM. In order to improve the prediction accuracy of LSSVM, a golden sine Harris Hawk optimization algorithm was proposed to optimize the structure parameters of (...)

End-of-life decision making frequently occurs in the intensive care unit (ICU). There is a lack of information on how a do-not-resuscitate (DNR) order affects treatments received by critically ill patients in ICUs. The objectives of this study were: (1) to compare the use of life support therapies between patients with a DNR order and those without; (2) to examine life support therapies prior to and after the issuance of a DNR order; and (3) to determine the clinical factors that influence (...)

Cao Feng describes two types of twentieth-century Yang Zhu-related scholarship. “Academic history” is represented by Meng Wentong and Guo Moruo; it focused on textual analysis and largely expanded the network of lineages related to Yang Zhu, reaching into Huang-Lao scholarship. “Intellectual history” since 1949 is represented by Hou Wailu and Liu Zehua. It portrays Yang Zhu’s thought system in terms of Marxist and post-Marxist ideology, respectively. Cao warns against the ideological coloring of the latter type and admires the scholarly (...)

    Zhu Xi's Grasp of Buddhism and its Limitations.Chen-Feng Tsai - 2018 - Contemporary Chinese Thought 49 (3-4):186-206.
Zhu Xi was familiar with Buddhism in youth. After devoting himself to Confucianism at age 30, he became critical of Buddhism. The author shows that Zhu Xi made two basic criticisms of Chinese Buddhism: He criticized, first, that many of the Chinese Buddhist sutras were forged texts, not based on Sanskrit originals, and that the basic Chinese Buddhist concepts were incoherent. However, Zhu Xi hadn’t fully mastered Buddhist history or thought.

Drawing from the dual process model of morality and life history theory, the present research examined the role of cognitive and emotional processes as bridges between basic environmental challenges and other-centered moral orientation. In two survey studies, cognitive and emotional processes represented by future-oriented planning and emotional attachment, respectively, or by perspective taking and empathic concern, respectively, positively predicted other-centeredness in prosocial moral reasoning and moral judgment dilemmas based on rationality or intuition. Cognitive processes were more closely related to rational (...)

Negative Publicity Effect of the Business Founder’s Unethical Behavior on Corporate Image: Evidence From China. [REVIEW]Dong-Hong Zhu & Ya-Ping Chang - 2013 - Journal of Business Ethics 117 (1):111-121.
The unethical behavior of a business founder often leads to negative publicity which substantially affects positive corporate image. The amount of negative publicity relating to business founders’ unethical behavior is on the rise in the age of online social media in China. Based on the stimulus–response theory and balance theory, this paper developed a theoretical model to examine how negative publicity about a business founder’s unethical behavior affects corporate image. The proposed model was tested by the partial least squares technique. (...)

This paper is an investigation of the degree of incommensurability between Western scientific medicine and traditional Chinese medicine, focusing on the practice and theory of acupuncture. We describe the structure of traditional Chinese medicine, oriented around such concepts as yin, yang, qi, and xing, and discuss how the conceptual and explanatory differences between Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine generate impediments to their comparison and evaluation. We argue that the linguistic, conceptual, ontological, and explanatory impediments can to a large extent (...)

The rapid developments in sensor technology and mobile devices bring a flourish of social images, and large-scale social images have attracted increasing attention to researchers. Existing approaches generally rely on recognizing object instances individually with geo-tags, visual patterns, etc. However, the social image represents a web of interconnected relations; these relations between entities carry semantic meaning and help a viewer differentiate between instances of a substance. This article forms the perspective of the spatial relationship to exploring the joint learning of (...)

An Eco-Inefficiency Dominance Probability Approach for Chinese Banking Operations Based on Data Envelopment Analysis.Feng Li, Lunwen Wu, Qingyuan Zhu, Yanling Yu, Gang Kou & Yi Liao - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-14.
Data envelopment analysis has proven to be a powerful technique for assessing the relative performance of a set of homogeneous decision-making units. A critical feature of conventional DEA approaches is that only one or several sets of optimal virtual weights are used to aggregate the ratio performance efficiencies, and thus, the efficiency scores might be too extreme or even unrealistic. Alternatively, this paper aims at developing a new performance dominance probability approach and applying it to analyze the banking operations in (...)

The problem of Confucius has been the subject of a most heated debate in philosophy circles for several years. Prior to 1962, the major points of debate were: whether the philosophical thought of Confucius is idealistic or materialistic; whether the political thought of Confucius represents [the interests of] the ruined slaveholders or the newly emerged landlord class; and whether the thoughts of Confucius are reactionary or progressive. However, since the spring of 1962 a new trend began to appear. Articles glorifying (...)

A large number of studies demonstrated that major depressive disorder is characterized by the alterations in brain functional connections which is also identifiable during the brain’s “resting-state.” But, in the present study, the approach of constructing functional connectivity is often biased by the choice of the threshold. Besides, more attention was paid to the number and length of links in brain networks, and the clustering partitioning of nodes was unclear. Therefore, minimum spanning tree analysis and the hierarchical clustering were first (...)

Tight sands have pore systems with complex structures and widely distributed pore sizes. We have studied the characteristics of these pore systems to better understand their important role in the accumulation and migration mechanisms of oil and gas reservoirs, which may enhance our ability to evaluate reservoir quality and predict reservoir production. To this end, we carried out thin-section analysis, scanning electron microscopy, pressure-controlled porosimetry, and rate-controlled porosimetry to describe the pore systems of a typical tight-sand reservoir in East Asia. A pathogenic connection between autoreactive T cells, fungal infection, and carcinogenesis has been demonstrated in studies of human autoimmune polyendocrinopathy-candidiasis-ectodermal dystrophy as well as in a mouse model in which kinase-dead Ikkα knock-in mice develop impaired central tolerance, autoreactive T cell–mediated autoimmunity, chronic fungal infection, and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, which recapitulates APECED. IκB kinase α is one subunit of the IKK complex required for NF-κB activation. IKK/NF-κB is essential for central tolerance establishment by regulating the development of medullary thymic (...)
