  9. Sourcing in an Increasingly Expensive China: Four Swedish Cases. [REVIEW]Tony Fang, Caroline Gunterberg & Emma Larsson - 2010 - Journal of Business Ethics 97 (1):119 - 138.
China has long enjoyed its position as the world's cheapest production country. However, this position is being shaken due to the increasingly rising costs in China in pace with China's rapid economic development. China's New Labour Contract Law which took effect from 1 January 2008 has further pushed the labour costs in China in general. The purpose of this article is to arrive at an in-depth understanding of why foreign firms conduct sourcing in China where sourcing is becoming increasingly expensive. (...)

The Moderating Effect of Impression Management on the Organizational Politics–Performance Relationship.Yei-Yi Chen & WenChang Fang - 2008 - Journal of Business Ethics 79 (3):263-277.
This study investigates the complexities in the relationship between perceptions of organizational politics and performance ratings by examining the moderating effect of impression management on that relationship. Expectancy theory was employed to better understand the moderating effect. We proposed that two kinds of impression management tactics occurred: supervisor-focused and job-focused, respectively. It was hypothesized that increased exercise of impression management would mitigate the negative effects of perceptions of organizational politics and performance ratings. Data were collected from 290 full-time employees of (...)

    Ockham Algebras with Balanced Double Pseudocomplementation.Jie Fang - 2008 - Studia Logica 90 (2):189-209.
    In this paper, we introduce a variety bdO of Ockham algebras with balanced double pseudocomplementation, consisting of those algebras of type where is an Ockham algebra, is a double p -algebra, and the operations and are linked by the identities [ f ( x )]* = [ f ( x )] + = f 2 ( x ), f ( x *) = x ** and f ( x + ) = x ++ . We give a description of the (...)

Financial Compensation for Deceased Organ Donation in China.X. Wu & Q. Fang - 2013 - Journal of Medical Ethics 39 (6):378-379.
In March 2010, China launched a pilot programme of deceased donor organ donation in 10 provinces and cities. However, the deceased donor donation rate in China remains significantly lower than in Spain and other Western countries. In order to provide incentive for deceased donor organ donation, five pilot provinces and cities have subsequently launched a financial compensation policy. Financial compensation can be considered to include two main forms, the ‘thank you’ form and the ‘help’ form. The ‘thank you’ form is (...)

Ethically Questionable Behavior in Sales Representatives — An Example From the Taiwanese Pharmaceutical Industry.Ya-Hui Hsu, Wenchang Fang & Yuanchung Lee - 2009 - Journal of Business Ethics 88 (1):155 - 166.
Recent corporate disgraces and corruption have heightened concerns about ethically questionable behavior in business. The construct of ethically questionable behavior is an under-portrayed area of management field research, and deserves further studying, especially in sales positions. This study uses four variables from the human resource management field to explain the ethically questionable behavior of sales representatives in the pharmaceutical industry. These variables include frame pattern, commission structure, behavior control type, and marketing norm perceptions. This work uses a 2  2 (...)

    Holistic Modeling: An Objection to Weisberg’s Weighted Feature-Matching Account.Wei Fang - forthcoming - Synthese:1-22.
Michael Weisberg’s account of scientific models concentrates on the ways in which models are similar to their targets. He intends not merely to explain what similarity consists in, but also to capture similarity judgments made by scientists. In order to scrutinize whether his account fulfills this goal, I outline one common way in which scientists judge whether a model is similar enough to its target, namely maximum likelihood estimation method. Then I consider whether Weisberg’s account could capture the judgments involved (...)

    Congruence Coherent Symmetric Extended de Morgan Algebras.T. S. Blyth & Jie Fang - 2007 - Studia Logica 87 (1):51-63.
An algebra A is said to be congruence coherent if every subalgebra of A that contains a class of some congruence on A is a union of -classes. This property has been investigated in several varieties of lattice-based algebras. These include, for example, de Morgan algebras, p-algebras, double p-algebras, and double MS-algebras. Here we determine precisely when the property holds in the class of symmetric extended de Morgan algebras.

Congruences on a Balanced Pseudocomplemented Ockham Algebra Whose Quotient Algebras Are Boolean.Jie Fang & Lei-Bo Wang - 2010 - Studia Logica 96 (3):421-431.
In this note we shall describe the lattice of the congruences on a balanced Ockham algebra with the pseudocomplementation whose quotient algebras are boolean. This is an extension of the result obtained by Rodrigues and Silva who gave a description of the lattice of congruences on an Ockham algebra whose quotient algebras are boolean.

The Poverty of Philosophy: "Ethics and Mathematics".J. Fang - 1988 - Philosophia Mathematica 3 (2):59-86.
For a solid case in the much neglected area of study, morals of knowledge in concrete, mathematicians are asked to face squarely the well-known fact since archimedes: the status of mathematics as a handmaid of military science, as is exemplified best today by computer scientists . also at issue here is the question: is the science less guilty of war crime if employed against the humanity in entirety than when abused against one particular race or nation? "l'art pour l'art" must (...)

Policy Stable States in the Graph Model for Conflict Resolution.Dao-Zhi Zeng, Liping Fang, Keith W. Hipel & D. Marc Kilgour - 2004 - Theory and Decision 57 (4):345-365.
A new approach to policy analysis is formulated within the framework of the graph model for conflict resolution. A policy is defined as a plan of action for a decision maker (DM) that specifies the DM’s intended action starting at every possible state in a graph model of a conflict. Given a profile of policies, a Policy Stable State (PSS) is a state that no DM moves away from (according to its policy), and such that no DM would prefer to (...)

    Anoixism and Its Idealistic Pursuit.Weilin Fang - 2015 - Cultura 12 (2):73-80.
Anoixism is a new contemporary philosophy which has spread from Asia to Europe in recent years. Anoixism lists openness as its first principle, accepting and acknowledging every doctrine and philosophy in the world. Phoenixist liberalism and Anoixist naturalism are two main parts of Phoenixist ethics. It starts from human nature and respects every individual's human rights through Phoenixist Constitutionalism. Phoenixist ethics insists on respecting freedom to the maximum degree through its principle of openness, supporting "ethics with the least amount of (...)
