Fact or Fiction: Children’s Acquired Knowledge of Islam through Mothers’ Testimony.Nicole Marie Summers & Falak Saffaf - 2019 - Journal of Cognition and Culture 19 (1-2):195-215.
One way in which information about the unknown is socialized to children is through adult testimony. Sharing false testimony about others with children may foster inaccurate perceptions and may result in prejudicially based divisions amongst children. As part of a larger study, mothers were instructed to read and discuss an illustrated story about Arab-Muslim refugees from Syria with their 6- to 8-year-olds. Parent-child discourse during two pages of this book was examined for how mothers used Islam as a talking point. (...)

Belief in Jinn Possession Scale: Development and validation.Nida Falak Naz & Naeem Aslam - 2024 - Archive for the Psychology of Religion 46 (1):88-105.
In spite of scientific developments, paranormal beliefs remain widespread, especially in South Asian societies. Numerous disorders connected to possession and trance have been theorized in recent years. In this study, three community samples were used to develop a comprehensive scale of Belief in Jinn Possession Scale (BJPS) and to examine its consistency and relevance. The BJPS scale was proposed to be multidimensional with four factors displaying satisfactory internal consistency reliability estimated by the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) ( n = 300). (...)

Solar and lunar observations at Istanbul in the 1570s.John M. Steele & S. Mohammad Mozaffari - 2015 - Archive for History of Exact Sciences 69 (4):343-362.
From the early ninth century until about eight centuries later, the Middle East witnessed a series of both simple and systematic astronomical observations for the purpose of testing contemporary astronomical tables and deriving the fundamental solar, lunar, and planetary parameters. Of them, the extensive observations of lunar eclipses available before 1000 AD for testing the ephemeredes computed from the astronomical tables are in a relatively sharp contrast to the twelve lunar observations that are pertained to the four extant accounts of (...)
