    Mittag-Leffler Modules.Philipp Rothmaler - 1997 - Annals of Pure and Applied Logic 88 (2-3):227-239.
The main theorem characterizes Mittag-Leffler modules as ‘positively atomic’ modules . This is applied to reduced products of Mittag-Leffler modules and pure-semisimple.

Some Results and Problems on Complex Germs with Definable MittagLeffler Stars.A. J. Wilkie - 2013 - Notre Dame Journal of Formal Logic 54 (3-4):603-610.
Working in an o-minimal expansion of the real field, we investigate when a germ of a complex analytic function has a definable analytic continuation to its MittagLeffler star. As an application we show that any algebro-logarithmic function that is complex analytic in a neighborhood of the origin in $\mathbb {C}$ has an analytic continuation to all but finitely many points in $\mathbb {C}$.

Ein aufgefundener früher Brief Kummers am Beginn seiner Korrespondenz mit Jacobi.Reinhard Bölling - 2005 - NTM Zeitschrift für Geschichte der Wissenschaften, Technik und Medizin 13 (4):238-257.
It is known that C. G. J. Jacobi wrote his first two letters to E. E. Kummer in the year 1834. Thanks to a find in the archive of the Mittag-Leffler Institute there is now the missing link , Kummer’s reply letter to Jacobi’s first letter. This letter seems to be the earliest one from Kummer still in existence (at least to a mathematician). Kummer tells in his letter about his situation as a teacher in Liegnitz, gives further (...)

Stability Analysis of Fractional-Order Bidirectional Associative Memory Neural Networks with Mixed Time-Varying Delays.Zhanying Yang & Jie Zhang - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-22.
This paper studies the stability analysis of fractional-order bidirectional associative memory neural networks with mixed time-varying delays. The orders of these systems lie in the interval 1,2. Firstly, a sufficient condition is derived to ensure the finite-time stability of systems by resorting to some analytical techniques and some elementary inequalities. Next, a sufficient condition is obtained to guarantee the global asymptotic stability of systems based on the Laplace transform, the mean value theorem, the generalized Gronwall inequality, and some properties of (...)

  13. Finite-Time Stability Criteria for a Class of High-Order Fractional Cohen–Grossberg Neural Networks with Delay.Zhanying Yang, Jie Zhang, Junhao Hu & Jun Mei - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-11.
This paper focuses on a class of delayed fractional Cohen–Grossberg neural networks with the fractional order between 1 and 2. Two kinds of criteria are developed to guarantee the finite-time stability of networks based on some analytical techniques. This method is different from those in some earlier works. Moreover, the obtained criteria are expressed as some algebraic inequalities independent of the MittagLeffler functions, and thus, the calculation is relatively simple in both theoretical analysis and practical applications. Finally, the (...)

Fractional Soliton Dynamics and Spectral Transform of Time-Fractional Nonlinear Systems: A Concrete Example.Sheng Zhang, Yuanyuan Wei & Bo Xu - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-9.
In this paper, the spectral transform with the reputation of nonlinear Fourier transform is extended for the first time to a local time-fractional Korteweg-de vries equation. More specifically, a linear spectral problem associated with the KdV equation of integer order is first equipped with local time-fractional derivative. Based on the spectral problem with the equipped local time-fractional derivative, the local tfKdV equation with Lax integrability is then derived and solved by extending the spectral transform. As a result, a formula of (...)

We characterize rings over which every cotorsion module is pure injective in terms of certain descending chain conditions and the Ziegler spectrum, which renders the classes of von Neumann regular rings and of pure semisimple rings as two possible extremes. As preparation, descriptions of pure projective and MittagLeffler preenvelopes with respect to so-called definable subcategories and of pure generation for such are derived, which may be of interest on their own. Infinitary axiomatizations lead to coherence results previously known (...)

Existence and Stability of Square-Mean S-Asymptotically Periodic Solutions to a Fractional Stochastic Diffusion Equation with Fractional Brownian Motion.Jia Mu, Jiecuo Nan & Yong Zhou - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-15.
In this paper, a generalized Gronwall inequality is demonstrated, playing an important role in the study of fractional differential equations. In addition, with the fixed-point theorem and the properties of MittagLeffler functions, some results of the existence as well as asymptotic stability of square-mean S-asymptotically periodic solutions to a fractional stochastic diffusion equation with fractional Brownian motion are obtained. In the end, an example of numerical simulation is given to illustrate the effectiveness of our theory results.

Homotopy Analysis Method for Three Types of Fractional Partial Differential Equations.Haidong Qu, Zihang She & Xuan Liu - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-13.
In this paper, three types of fractional order partial differential equations, including the fractional Cauchy–Riemann equation, fractional acoustic wave equation, and two-dimensional space partial differential equation with time-fractional-order, are considered, and these models are obtained from the standard equations by replacing an integer-order derivative with a fractional-order derivative in Caputo sense. Firstly, we discuss the fractional integral and differential properties of several functions which are derived from the Mittag-Leffler function. Secondly, by using the homotopy analysis method, the exact (...)

According to him, our practice of praising and blaming people for the epistemic appropriateness of their beliefs provides us with good reason to think that meta-beliefs can establish basing relations independently of any causal relation. Korcz writes.

This article examines the interlinked impacts of gender and race on occupational prestige, segregation, and earnings. Included are occupations about which Bose and Rossi reported prestige ranks and about which the 1980 census reported earnings and relevant gender/race breakdowns. White men are used as the comparison group. Contrasted to them are the gender/race groups of white women, Black men, Black women, Asian-American men, Asian-American women, Hispanic men, and Hispanic women. Race has a more powerful impact than gender on the prestige (...)

New Shmagency Worries.Olof Leffler - 2019 - Journal of Ethics and Social Philosophy 15 (2):121-145.
Constitutivism explains norms in terms of their being constitutive of agency, actions, or certain propositional attitudes. However, the shmagency objection says that if we can be shmagents – like agents, minus the norm-explaining features of agency – we can avoid the norms, so the explanation fails. This paper extends this objection, arguing that constitutivists about practical norms suffer from it despite their recent attempts to solve it. The standard response to the objection is that it is self-defeating for agents to (...)

This paper explores how participation in passionate avocations _ leisure pursuits both generating and requiring heavy personal identity investments_ affects the public interface between the "real " world and the alternate world of the passionate avocation. We use the world of dog sport enthusiasts to problematize polar conceptualizations of certain important aspects of social life. The Foundations of Agency – and Ethics?Olof Leffler - 2016 - Philosophia 44 (2):547-563.
In this article, I take off from some central issues in Paul Katsafanas’ recent book Agency and the Foundations of Ethics. I argue that Katsafanas’ alleged aims of action fail to do the work he requires them to do. First, his approach to activity or control is deeply problematic in the light of counterexamples. More importantly, the view of activity or control he needs to get his argument going is most likely false, as it requires our values to do work (...)

    A Meno Problem for Evidentialism.Daniel M. Mittag - 2014 - Southern Journal of Philosophy 52 (2):250-266.
The original Meno problem is to explain why knowledge is more valuable than mere true belief. In this paper I argue that evidentialists face an additional Meno problem, a Meno problem that, to date, no evidentialist has considered. Specifically, evidentialists must account for the additional epistemic value of a doxastically justified doxastic attitude as compared to a doxastic attitude that is merely propositionally justified. I consider the nature of the problem facing evidentialism and critically discuss two attempts to account for (...)

This chapter reviews developments and difficulties in the nonverbal behavior literature. Despite the atheoretical bias of the discipline, four implicit models may be found there-the ethological, the enculturation, the internal states, and the situational resource models. After reviewing research based on these models, we conclude that the situational resource paradigm has much to offer nonverbal theorizing.
