    Approach-avoidance: Potency in psychological research.John B. Gormly & Anne V. Gormly - 1981 - Bulletin of the Psychonomic Society 17 (5):221-223.
Women heard another person state attitudes that were either in high agreement or high disagreement with their own attitudes. The potency of an approach-avoidance dependent variable was compared with traditional dependent variables for this situation, ratings of inter-personal attraction. Eighty-five percent of those hearing high agreement volunteered to return to the laboratory to continue participation in the study at a later time. Nobody who heard high disagreement volunteered to return. This difference between the two treatment conditions was considerably greater than (...)

What should relational egalitarians believe?Anne-Sofie Greisen Hojlund - 2022 - Politics, Philosophy and Economics 21 (1):55-74.
Many find that the objectionable nature of paternalism has something to do with belief. However, since it is commonly held that beliefs are directly governed by epistemic as opposed to moral norms, how could it be objectionable to hold paternalistic beliefs about others if they are supported by the evidence? Drawing on central elements of relational egalitarianism, this paper attempts to bridge this gap. In a first step, it argues that holding paternalistic beliefs about others implies a failure to regard (...)

Avoiding Stigmatization in Paternalistic Health Policy.Anne-Sofie Greisen Hojlund - 2023 - Social Theory and Practice 49 (3):491-512.
How should we understand stigmatization in policies that force, induce, or nudge people to make healthier choices? Sometimes when health authorities try to alleviate (inequality in) lifestyle diseases by such means, stigmatization is reinforced and additional burdens are imposed on those who are already at a disadvantage. Distinguishing between policies that rely on stigma effects and policies that produce stigma as an unintended side effect, the paper argues that stigmatization is objectionable because it makes people’s lives worse, instrumentally as well (...)

Beyond the Boundary: Science, Industry, and Managing Symbiosis.Birgitte Gorm Hansen - 2011 - Bulletin of Science, Technology and Society 31 (6):493-505.
–Whether celebratory or critical, STS research on science-industry relations has focused on the blurring of boundaries and hybridization of codes and practices. However, the vocabulary of boundary and hybrid tends to reify science and industry as separate in the attempt to map their relation. Drawing on interviews with the head of a research center in plant biology, this article argues that biology and biotech are symbionts. In order to be viable and productive, symbiosis needs to be carefully managed and given (...)

The moral work of anthropology: ethnographic studies of anthropologists at work.Hanne Overgaard Mogensen & Birgitte Gorm Hansen (eds.) - 2021 - New York, N.Y.: Berghahn Books.
Looking at the ways in which anthropologists try to lead positive lives at work, this book investigates what kind of morality they perform in their occupations and what the impact of this morality is. The book includes ethnographic studies in four professional arenas: health care, business, management and interdisciplinary research. The discussion is positioned at the intersection of 'applied or public anthropology' and 'the anthropology of ethics' and analyses the ways in which anthropologists can carry out 'moral work' both inside (...)

  34. Etkileşimci Metafor Kuramının Eleştirisi.Alper Yavuz - 2019 - Kilikya Felsefe Dergisi / Cilicia Journal of Philosophy 6 (1):1-14.
Öz: Bu yazıda Elisabeth Camp'in metafor kuramını eleştireceğim. Camp'in tersine, olarak-görme etkisinin metafor için özsel olmadığını savunacağım. Bunların yanı sıra Camp'in metafor kuramının kimi değillenmiş metafor (...)

    Davidson’ın Metafor Kuramı Üzerine.Tuncay Turna - 2022 - Felsefe Arkivi 56:55-71.

Ḥāfiẓ as a Social Source for the Visually Impaired People.Yunus Bucuka - 2021 - Cumhuriyet İlahiyat Dergisi 25 (2):619-639.
Sacred texts are important sources for all religions. These resources have a variety of social functions, either implicit or explicit. Therefore, it is important to protect and transfer sacred texts in many cultures. For this reason, in many societies, it has become necessary to memorize these texts after they have been written down and to transfer them orally to the next generations. Thus, over time, various structures related to the memorization of these sacred texts have emerged. Being Ḥāfiẓ is an (...)
