Electrophysiological Proxy of Cognitive Reserve Index.Elvira Khachatryan, Benjamin Wittevrongel, Matej Perovnik, Jos Tournoy, Birgitte Schoenmakers & Marc M. Van Hulle - 2021 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 15.
Cognitive reserve postulates that individual differences in task performance can be attributed to differences in the brain’s ability to recruit additional networks or adopt alternative cognitive strategies. Variables that are descriptive of lifetime experience such as socioeconomic status, educational attainment, and leisure activity are common proxies of CR. CR is mostly studied using neuroimaging techniques such as functional MRI in which case individuals with a higher CR were observed to activate a smaller brain network compared to individuals with a lower (...)

Can Honesty Oaths, Peer Interaction, or Monitoring Mitigate Lying?Tobias Beck, Christoph Bühren, Björn Frank & Elina Khachatryan - 2020 - Journal of Business Ethics 163 (3):467-484.
We introduce several new variants of the dice experiment by Fischbacher and Föllmi-Heusi :525–547, 2013) to investigate measures to reduce lying. Hypotheses on the relative performance of these treatments are derived from a straightforward theoretical model. In line with previous research, we find that groups of two subjects lied at least to the same extent as individuals—even in a novel treatment where we assigned to one subject the role of being the other’s monitor. However, we find that our participants hardly (...)

Unfounded—conspiracy and health—beliefs about COVID-19 have accompanied the pandemic worldwide. Here, we examined cross-nationally the structure and correlates of these beliefs with an 8-item scale, using a multigroup confirmatory factor analysis. We obtained a two-factor model of unfounded (conspiracy and health) beliefs with good internal structure (average CFI = 0.98, RMSEA = 0.05, SRMR = 0.04), but a high correlation between the two factors (average latent factor correlation = 0.57). This model was replicable across 50 countries (total N = 13,579), (...)

Measurement Invariance of the Short Home Attachment Scale: A Cross-Cultural Study.Sofya Nartova-Bochaver, Sofia Reznichenko, Vasily Bardadymov, Milana Khachaturova, Victoria Yerofeyeva, Narine Khachatryan, Iryna Kryazh, Shanmukh Kamble & Zulkarnain Zulkarnain - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
The home environment is a particularly significant part of life that is supposed to satisfy inhabitants’ needs, form their identity, and contribute to psychological wellbeing. The construct of home attachment is especially relevant for students as a most mobile social group. This study is devoted to the validation of the Short Home Attachment Scale in a student sample from five countries. A total of 1,349 university students participated in the study and filled in the 14 items of HAS. In order (...)
