Sin, Grace, and Human Responsibility: Reflections on Justification by Faith Alone in the Age of Globalization.Anselm K. Min - 2017 - Neue Zeitschrift für Systematicsche Theologie Und Religionsphilosophie 59 (4):572-594.
SummaryI offer reflections on the doctrine of justification by faith alone in the light of the many challenges of globalization. I briefly characterize globalization as the new context of contemporary theology in the first part, and go on in the second part to defend its relevance as a radical and total critique of life today in its nihilistic pursuit of creaturely arrogance, greed, and pleasure, and argue for the particular urgency of promoting the love and solidarity of Others beyond the (...)

    Formation, Grace, and Pneumatology: Or, Where's the Spirit in Gregory's Augustine?James K. A. Smith - 2011 - Journal of Religious Ethics 39 (3):556-569.
Eric Gregory's Politics and the Order of Love takes up an audacious project: enlisting Saint Augustine in order to "help imagine a better liberalism." This article first provides a summary of Gregory's argument, focusing on his emphasis on love as a "motivation" for neighborly care, and hence democratic participation. This involves tracing the theme of motivation in the book, which is tied to his articulation of liberal perfectionism and an emphasis on civic virtue. In conclusion I raise the question of (...)

How Do Clinical Psychologists Make Ethical Decisions? A Systematic Review of Empirical Research.Becky Grace, Tony Wainwright, Wendy Solomons, Jenna Camden & Helen Ellis-Caird - 2020 - Clinical Ethics 15 (4):213-224.
Given the nature of the discipline, it might be assumed that clinical psychology is an ethical profession, within which effective ethical decision-making is integral. How then, does this ethical decision-making occur? This paper describes a systematic review of empirical research addressing this question. The paucity of evidence related to this question meant that the scope was broadened to include other professions who deliver talking therapies. This review could support reflective practice about what may be taken into account when making ethical (...)

Grace, Natura Pura, and the Metaphysics of Status.Mark K. Spencer - 2017 - Proceedings of the American Catholic Philosophical Association 91:127-143.
Christian Personalists have objected to Thomism’s claim that humans could have existed in a state of pure nature, on the grounds that this claim entails that historical states like grace do not give fundamental meaning to us, that these states are merely accidental, and that it led to modern secularism. I show that Thomism can affirm its traditional claims regarding grace and pure nature, while denying the first two implications, by developing the Thomistic metaphysics of status. In Thomism (...)

Concepts and Categories: What is the Evidence for Neural Specialisation?Lorraine K. Tyler & Helen E. Moss - 2001 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 24 (3):495-496.
Humphreys and Forde argue that semantic memory is divided into separate substores for different kinds of information. However, the neuro-imaging results cited in support of this view are inconsistent and often methodologically and statistically unreliable. Our own data indicate no regional specialisation as a function of semantic category or domain and support instead a distributed unitary account.

We estimate that 208,000 deep brain stimulation devices have been implanted to address neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders worldwide. DBS Think Tank presenters pooled data and determined that DBS expanded in its scope and has been applied to multiple brain disorders in an effort to modulate neural circuitry. The DBS Think Tank was founded in 2012 providing a space where clinicians, engineers, researchers from industry and academia discuss current and emerging DBS technologies and logistical and ethical issues facing the field.
