Fault Damage Zone at Subsurface: A Case Study Using 3D Seismic Attributes and a Clay Model Analog for the Anadarko Basin, Oklahoma.Zonghu Liao, Hui Liu, Zheng Jiang, Kurt J. Marfurt & Ze’ev Reches - 2017 - Interpretation: SEG 5 (2):T143-T150.
Using 3D seismic attributes and the support of a clay model that served as an analog, we mapped and analyzed a 32 km long, north–south-striking, right-lateral fault in the Woodford Shale, Anadarko Basin, Oklahoma, USA. Volumetric coherence, dip azimuth, and curvature delineated an approximately 1.5 km wide damage zone with multiple secondary faults, folds, and flexures. The clay analog enabled us to identify these features as belonging to a complex transpressional Riedel structure. We also suggest that the damage zone contains (...)

Transformational Leadership and Perceived Overqualification: A Career Development Perspective.Man Zhang, Fan Wang, Haolin Weng, Ting Zhu & Huiyun Liu - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
Drawing on social information processing theory and a career development perspective, we examined the effect of transformational leadership on the perceived overqualification via career growth opportunities, and how the supervisor–subordinate guanxi moderates the relationship between transformational leadership and perceived overqualification. We tested this proposal using three waves of lagged data collected from 351 company employees in the Yangtze River Delta region in China. The results revealed that transformational leadership had an indirect effect on perceived overqualification through career growth opportunities, and (...)

Pattern Formation in a Reaction-Diffusion Predator-Prey Model with Weak Allee Effect and Delay.Hua Liu, Yong Ye, Yumei Wei, Weiyuan Ma, Ming Ma & Kai Zhang - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-14.
In this paper, we establish a reaction-diffusion predator-prey model with weak Allee effect and delay and analyze the conditions of Turing instability. The effects of Allee effect and delay on pattern formation are discussed by numerical simulation. The results show that pattern formations change with the addition of weak Allee effect and delay. More specifically, as Allee effect constant and delay increases, coexistence of spotted and stripe patterns, stripe patterns, and mixture patterns emerge successively. From an ecological point of view, (...)

Global Robust Exponential Synchronization of Multiple Uncertain Neural Networks Subject to Event-Triggered Strategy.Jin-E. Zhang & Huan Liu - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-16.
This paper proposes the event-triggered strategy for multiple neural networks with parameter uncertainty and time delay. By establishing event-triggered mechanism and using matrix inequality techniques, several sufficient criteria are obtained to ensure global robust exponential synchronization of coupling NNs. In particular, the coupling matrix need not be the Laplace matrix in this paper. In addition, the lower bounds of sampling time intervals are also found by the established event-triggered mechanism. Eventually, three numerical examples are offered to illustrate the obtained results.

Removing Vacant Chairs: Does Independent Directors’ Attendance at Board Meetings Matter?Huilong Liu, Hong Wang & Liansheng Wu - 2016 - Journal of Business Ethics 133 (2):375-393.
In this paper we investigate whether independent directors’ attendance at board meetings enhances investor protection using a difference-in-difference approach. We find that independent directors’ attendance alleviates tunneling. This effect is more pronounced in non-state-owned enterprises than in state-owned enterprises. The reinforcement of external supervision substitutes for the role of independent directors’ attendance and this substitution effect is more significant in non-SOEs. Together, these results imply that independent directors’ attendance at board meetings can play an important role in protecting investors, especially (...)

The He8 and Shan1 members deposited by braided river are major pay zones of the Sulige western region, Ordos Basin. In these two members, the P-wave impedance ranges of gas-bearing reservoir and the surrounding lithologies are highly overlapped. The gas-bearing reservoir cannot be feasibly recognized by the conventional poststack seismic data. In addition, the seismic reflection of the Shan1 member showing mid-weak amplitude distributes discontinuously within the whole seismic survey, leading to difficulties in tracking seismic events and delineating the plane (...)

Comparing More Revision and Fixed-Point Theories of Truth.Qiqing Lin & Hu Liu - 2021 - Journal of Philosophical Logic 50 (4):615-671.
Kremer presented three approaches of comparing fixed-point and revision theories of truth in Kremer, 363–403, 2009). Using these approaches, he established the relationships among ten fixed-point theories suggested by Kripke in, 690–716, 1975) and three revision theories presented by Gupta and Belnap in. This paper continues Kremer’s work. We add five other revision theories to the comparisons, including the theory proposed by Gupta in, 1–60, 1982), the theory proposed by Herzberger in, 61–102, 1982), the theory based on fully-varied revision sequences (...)

A Dynamic Thermal-Allocation Solution to the Complex Economic Benefit for a Data Center.Hui Liu, Wenyu Song, Tianqi Jin, Zhiyong Wu, Fusheng Yan & Jie Song - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-12.
Data centers, which provide computing services and gain profits, are indispensable to every city in the information era. They offer computation and storage while consuming energy and generate thermal discharges. To maximize the economic benefit, the existing research studies on the data center workload management mostly leverage the dynamical power model, i.e., the power-aware workload allocation. Nevertheless, we argue that for the complex relationship between the economic benefit and so many attributes, such as computation, energy consumption, thermal distribution, cooling, and (...)

Considering the instability of nonlinear dynamics, the deductive inference rule Modus ponens itself is not enough to guarantee the validity of reasoning sequences in the real physical world, and similar results cannot necessarily be obtained from similar causes. Some kind of stability hypothesis should be added in order to draw meaningful conclusions. Hence, the uncertainty of deductive inference appears to be like that of inductive inference, and the asymmetry between deduction and induction becomes unrecognizable such as to undermine the basis (...)

On Formalizing Causation Based on Constant Conjunction Theory.Hu Liu & Xuefeng Wen - 2013 - Review of Symbolic Logic 6 (1):160-181.
Constant conjunction theory of causation had been the dominant theory in philosophy for a long time and regained attention recently. This paper gives a logical framework of causation based on the theory. The basic idea is that causal statements are empirical, and are derived from our past experience by observing constant conjunction between objects. The logic is defined on linear time structures. A causal statement is evaluated at time points, such that its value depends on what has been in the (...)

According to actual needs, the principles for the construction of environmental emissions of products are proposed, and a detailed exergoeconomic analysis model is established (...)

Sources of urban data are generally categorized as one of the three types: official, social, and sensorial, which are from the government and enterprises, social networks of citizens, and the sensor network. These types typically differ significantly from each other but are consolidated together for the smart urban services. Awareness logic is a successful way to circumvent the problem of omniscience so that actual belief is modelled in a reasonable way. In this paper, we suggest a new method modelling awareness and actual belief by using two-dimensional logics. We show that the two-dimensional logics are flexible tools. In seismic mapping of reservoirs, it is usually difficult to identify a single layer in a thin interbed formation. The main reason for this is interference of adjacent layers in the thin beds. We have developed a slice method basis spectral decomposition workflow to decrease this interference rely on the good vertical resolution of the thin layers, which is not always achievable. To overcome this, we have developed two frequencies at which the thin-bed response is weakest at a fixed time. (...)
