Homeomorphism Mapping Based Neural Networks for Finite Time Constraint Control of a Class of Nonaffine Pure-Feedback Nonlinear Systems.Jianhua Zhang, Quanmin Zhu, Yang Li & Xueli Wu - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-11.
In this study, an accurate convergence time of the supertwisting algorithm is proposed to build up a framework for nonaffine nonlinear systems’ finite-time control. The convergence time of the STA is provided by calculating the solution of a differential equation instead of constructing Lyapunov function. Therefore, precise convergence time is presented instead of estimation of the upper bound of the algorithm’s reaching time. Regardless of affine or nonaffine nonlinear systems, supertwisting control provides a general solution based on virtual control law (...)

Chemostratigraphic Insights Into Fluvio-Lacustrine Deposition, Yanchang Formation, Upper Triassic, Ordos Basin, China.Harry Rowe, Xiangzeng Wang, Bojiang Fan, Tongwei Zhang, Stephen C. Ruppel, Kitty L. Milliken, Robert Loucks, Ying Shen, Jianfeng Zhang, Quansheng Liang & Evan Sivil - 2017 - Interpretation: SEG 5 (2):SF149-SF165.
A chemostratigraphic study of a 300 m long core recovered from the southeastern central Ordos depocenter reveals thick intervals of fine-grained, organic-rich lacustrine strata, interpreted to represent deepwater deposition under meromictic conditions during lake highstand phases, interspersed with thick intervals of arkosic sandstones, reflective of fluvio-deltaic deposition during lake lowstand phases. Along with elevated concentrations of %Al, traditionally a proxy for clay content, maximum total-organic-carbon values in the deepwater lacustrine facies reach 8%, with average values of approximately 3%. The fine-grained, (...)

An Examination of the Association Between Gender and Reporting Intentions for Fraudulent Financial Reporting.Steven Kaplan, Kurt Pany, Janet Samuels & Jian Zhang - 2009 - Journal of Business Ethics 87 (1):15-30.
We report the results of a study that examines the association between gender and individuals’ intentions to report fraudulent financial reporting using non-anonymous and anonymous reporting channels. In our experimental study, we examine whether reporting intentions in response to discovering a fraudulent financial reporting act are associated with the participants’ gender, the perpetrator’s gender, and/or the interaction between the participants’ and perpetrator’s gender. We find that female participants’ reporting intentions for an anonymous channel are higher than for male participants; the (...)

Taking advantage of the China’s recent anti-corruption campaign, we attempt to examine the effect of public governance on a firm’s incentive to commit fraud. Using enforcement actions data from the Chinese Securities Regulatory Commission from 2004 to 2014, we find that, due to enhanced public governance, firms are less likely to commit fraud in the post-campaign period than in the pre-campaign period. We further show that the effect of public governance is more evident in privately held listed firms, in firms (...)

Individuals’ Perceptions of the Legitimacy of Emerging Market Multinationals: Ethical Foundations and Construct Validation.Jianhong Zhang, David L. Deephouse, Désirée van Gorp & Haico Ebbers - forthcoming - Journal of Business Ethics:1-25.
Entry of new organizations, including multinational enterprises from emerging markets, raises the ethical question of will they benefit society. The concept of legitimacy answers this question because it is the overall assessment of the appropriateness of organizational ends and means. Moreover, gaining legitimacy enables EMNEs to succeed in new host countries. Past work examined collective level indicators of the legitimacy of MNEs, but recent research recognizes the importance of individuals’ perceptions as the micro-foundation of legitimacy. This study first uses new (...)

Dynamic Green Innovation Decision of the Supply Chain with Innovating and Free-Riding Manufacturers: Cooperation and Spillover.Feifei Zhang, Zaixu Zhang, Yawei Xue, Jian Zhang & Yang Che - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-17.
Green innovation for supply chain has attracted much academic attention. Yet, there is no adequate understanding of how spillover and cooperation can impact the enterprises’ green innovation decisions in the presence of free-rider. Besides, the dynamic impact of green innovation on emission is still lack of attention. We develop a differential game model that explicitly considers a supply chain with two types of manufacturers to examine the dynamics of green innovation. The analysis reveals that under the noncooperation mode, the emissions (...)

A Novel Method to Evaluate Patient-Ventilator Synchrony During Mechanical Ventilation.Liming Hao, Shuai Ren, Yan Shi, Na Wang, Yixuan Wang, Zujin Luo, Fei Xie, Meng Xu, Jian Zhang & Maolin Cai - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-15.
The synchrony of patient-ventilator interaction affects the process of mechanical ventilation which is clinically applied for respiratory support. The occurrence of patient-ventilator asynchrony not only increases the risk of ventilator complications but also affects the comfort of patients. To solve the problem of uncertain patient-ventilator interaction in the mechanical ventilation system, a novel method to evaluate patient-ventilator synchrony is proposed in this article. Firstly, a pneumatic model is established to simulate the mechanical ventilation system, which is verified to be accurate (...)

The valve-controlled cylinder position servo system has the advantages of large output force and large power. As characteristics of nonlinearity and uncertainty exist in the hydraulic servo system, it is difficult for the traditional PID control to meet the requirements of high precision and control. The active disturbance rejection control considers the uncertainty of the system and external disturbances as the total disturbance. In this paper, the valve-controlled cylinder servo system is designed based on ADRC, its working principle is described, (...)

Neural Network-Based Nonlinear Fixed-Time Adaptive Practical Tracking Control for Quadrotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.Jianhua Zhang, Yang Li & Wenbo Fei - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-13.
This brief addresses the position and attitude tracking fixed-time practical control for quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles subject to nonlinear dynamics. First, by combining the radial basis function neural networks with virtual parameter estimating algorithms, a NN adaptive control scheme is developed for UAVs. Then, a fixed-time adaptive law is proposed for neural networks to achieve fixed-time stability, and convergence time is dependent only on control gain parameters. Based on Lyapunov analyses and fixed-time stability theory, it is proved that the fixed-time (...)

Accurate prediction of the S-wave velocity of highly heterogeneous coal measure strata using high-resolution logging can effectively identify high-quality reservoirs. We have used multipole array sonic logs to predict the S-wave velocity of coal measure strata based on the conventional empirical method, multiple regression method, and rock-matrix modulus extraction method. Moreover, we used a complex multiple parameter iterative computational method of forward calculation and inversion in the MME method. Our results indicate that the MME method can effectively extract several rock (...)

Data-driven methods are very useful for streamflow forecasting when the underlying physical relationships are not entirely clear. However, obtaining an accurate data-driven model that is sufficiently performant for streamflow forecasting remains often challenging. This study proposes a new data-driven model that combined the variational mode decomposition and the prediction models for daily streamflow forecasting. The prediction models include the autoregressive moving average, the gradient boosting regression tree, the support vector regression, and the backpropagation neural network. This theoretical study examines the ethics of international nurse recruitment from the conceptual framework of stakeholder interests. It argues that there are stakeholders at individual, institutional, national and international levels, with overlapping but, more often, different or even conflicting interests. Depending on the interests of given stakeholders, different conclusions regarding the ethics of international nurse recruitment may be reached. There is no right or wrong with these varying ethical positions because they reflect different beliefs and philosophies that are not amenable (...)

In this study, an applicable and effective method, which is based on a least-squares residual power series method, is proposed to solve the time-fractional differential equations. The least-squares residual power series method combines the residual power series method with the least-squares method. These calculations depend on the sense of Caputo. Firstly, using the classic residual power series method, the analytical solution can be solved. Secondly, the concept of fractional Wronskian is introduced, which is applied to validate the linear independence of (...)

Due to non-Gaussian stochastic disturbances imposed on heat sources, the quantized minimum error entropy is adopted to construct the performance index of superheating control systems. Furthermore, particle swarm optimization algorithm is applied to obtain optimal control law by minimizing the performance index. The implementation procedures of the presented superheating control system in an ORC-based waste heat recovery process are presented. The simulation results testify the effectiveness (...)

Intermittent Control for Cluster-Delay Synchronization in Directed Networks.Jianbao Zhang, Yi Wang, Zhongjun Ma, Jianlong Qiu & Fawaz Alsaadi - 2018 - Complexity 2018:1-9.
We investigate cluster-delay synchronization of a directed network possessing cluster structures by designing an intermittent control protocol. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, we proved that synchronization can be realized for oscillators in the same cluster and cluster-delay synchronization can be realized for the whole network. By simplifying the obtained sufficient conditions, we carry out a succinct and utilitarian corollary. In addition, comparative researches are carried out to show the differences and the usefulness of the obtained results with respect to other (...)
