Special Topic: Filial Piety: The Root of Morality or the Source of Corruption?Guo Qiyong - 2007 - Dao: A Journal of Comparative Philosophy 6 (1):21-37.
Qingping åŠ‰æ¸ å¹³ has published a series of articles criticizing Confucian ethics in its modern context (see various articles by Liu), which has drawn the attention of many scholars. My friends and I have debated with him and his allies on this issue (See Guo 2002, Yang Haiwen 2002, Yang Zebo 2003, 2004a, 2004b, Ding 2003, 2005a, 2005b, Gong 2004, Guo and Gong 2004, and Wen 2005). Guo Xiang on Self-so Knowledge.Paul J. D’Ambrosio - 2016 - Asian Philosophy 26 (2):119-132.
ABSTRACTThe perspective on zhi 知 is often identified as a key distinction between the Zhuangzi 莊子 and its most famous commentator, Guo Xiang 郭象. Many scholars who recognize this distinction observe that zhi almost always has negative connotations in Guo Xiang’s writing, whereas certain types of knowledge can be positive in the Zhuangzi In this way, Guo Xiang’s comments on zhi seem to stray from the ‘original meaning’ of the Zhuangzi, and are often dismissed as inaccurate mis-readings, imbued with mysticism (...)

An Exposition of Zhou Yi Studies in Modern Neo-Confucianism.Guo Qiyong - 2006 - Frontiers of Philosophy in China 1 (2):185-203.
The representatives of modern Neo-Confucianism all greatly value Yi Zhuan and regard it as one of their spiritual resources, and give their own creative interpretations and transformations. Xiong Shili's ontological-cosmological theory takes "qian yuan" as its center; Ma Yifu has a theory of ontology-cultivation centered on "nature-principle"; Fang Dongmei has a metaphysics of production and reproduction; Mou Zongsan takes the view of "completely knowing the fathomless and understanding transformation" as a moral metaphysics; and in Tang Junyi there is a theory (...)

Distributed Acoustic Sensing Coupling Noise Removal Based on Sparse Optimization.Jianyou Chen, Junrui Ning, Wenchao Chen, Xiaokai Wang, Wei Wang & Gulan Zhang - 2019 - Interpretation 7 (2):T373-T382.
The industry treats the distributed acoustic sensing system, which uses an optical fiber cable in vertical seismic profiling data acquisition, as a new and fast-growing technology. The high-quality data set acquired from the DAS acquisition system can produce high-precision VSP images and obtain more detailed checkshots. However, in field data, the acquired VSP data set suffers from strong coherent DAS coupling noise. Many factors may cause coherent DAS coupling noise, such as the cable slapping and ringing due to the physical (...)

The study aims to help characterize the sort of structures about which people can acquire unconscious knowledge. It is already well established that people can implicitly learn n-grams and also repetition patterns. We explore the acquisition of unconscious structural knowledge of symmetry. Chinese Tang poetry uses a specific sort of mirror symmetry, an inversion rule with respect to the tones of characters in successive lines of verse. We show, using artificial poetry to control both n-gram structure and repetition patterns, that (...)

From Interpretation to Construction: Guo Xiang's Ontological Individualism.Vincent Shen - 2013 - Journal of Chinese Philosophy 40 (S1):171-188.
Guo Xiang's ontological individualism represents a case of philosophical construction based on his interpretation of the Zhuangzi. His concept of the self-transformation of the individual who is self-born, with self-nature and without dependence on others supports the idea of individual autonomy. Nevertheless, each individual's act for self-interest still benefits other individuals in a non-teleological mutual accommodation. The path from duhua of each individual on the level of existence, to the xiangyin among individuals on the level of action consequence, to the (...)

An experiment explored the acquisition of conscious and unconscious knowledge of semantic prosody in a second language under incidental and intentional learning conditions. Semantic prosody is the conotational coloring of the semantics of a word, largely uncaptured by dictionary definitions. Contrary to some claims in the literature, we revealed that both conscious and unconscious knowledge were involved in the acquisition of semantic prosody. Intentional learning resulted in similar unconscious but more conscious knowledge than incidental learning. The results are discussed in (...)

Tikhonov Regularized Variable Projection Algorithms for Separable Nonlinear Least Squares Problems.Zhengqing Fu & Lanlan Guo - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-9.
This paper considers the classical separable nonlinear least squares problem. Such problems can be expressed as a linear combination of nonlinear functions, and both linear and nonlinear parameters are to be estimated. Among the existing results, ill-conditioned problems are less often considered. Hence, this paper focuses on an algorithm for ill-conditioned problems. In the proposed linear parameter estimation process, the sensitivity of the model to disturbance is reduced using Tikhonov regularisation. The Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm is used to estimate the nonlinear parameters. (...)

We investigated the implicit learning of a linguistically relevant variable in a natural language context . Trial by trial subjective measures indicated that exposure to a form–animacy regularity led to unconscious knowledge of that regularity. Under the same conditions, people did not learn about another form–meaning regularity when a linguistically arbitrary variable was used instead of animacy . Implicit learning is constrained to acquire unconscious knowledge about features with high prior probabilities of being relevant in that domain.

A Path Analysis of Greenwashing in a Trust Crisis Among Chinese Energy Companies: The Role of Brand Legitimacy and Brand Loyalty.Rui Guo, Lan Tao, Caroline Bingxin Li & Tao Wang - 2017 - Journal of Business Ethics 140 (3):523-536.
For many energy companies in China, green brand strategy is becoming an important approach to enhance competitive advantage. However, greenwashing behaviors result in a crisis of trust. Existing research focuses on green marketing, but is silent on the institutional view of the trust crisis resulting from greenwashing by energy brands. Thus, this study takes a decoupling perspective from institutional theory and considers legitimacy, energy policy management, and green brand theories to shed light on the path from the decoupling of an (...)

Vector Correlation of Amplitude Variation with Azimuth and Curvature in a Post-Hydraulic-Fracture Barnett Shale Survey.Shiguang Guo, Sumit Verma, Qing Wang, Bo Zhang & Kurt J. Marfurt - 2016 - Interpretation: SEG 4 (1):SB23-SB35.
Knowledge of induced fractures can help to evaluate the success of reservoir stimulation. Seismic P-waves through fracturing media can exhibit azimuthal variation in traveltime, amplitude, and thin-bed tuning, so amplitude variation with azimuth can be used to evaluate the hydraulic-fracturing-caused anisotropy. The Barnett Shale of the Fort Worth Basin was the first large-scale commercial shale gas play. We have analyzed two adjacent Barnett Shale seismic surveys: one acquired before hydraulic fracturing and the other acquired after hydraulic fracturing by more than (...)

Happy But Uncivil? Examining When and Why Positive Affect Leads to Incivility.Remus Ilies, Cathy Yang Guo, Sandy Lim, Kai Chi Yam & Xinxin Li - 2020 - Journal of Business Ethics 165 (4):595-614.
In this paper, we examine the interactive effects of positive affect and perspective-taking on workplace incivility and family incivility, through moral disengagement. We draw from broaden-and-build and moral disengagement theories to suggest a potential negative consequence of positive affect. Specifically, we argue that positive affect increases incivility toward coworkers and spouses through moral disengagement among employees with low, but not high perspective-taking. Data from two time-lagged field studies and one online experiment provide support for our hypotheses. These findings suggest that (...)

Formation of Autapse Connected to Neuron and Its Biological Function.Chunni Wang, Shengli Guo, Ying Xu, Jun Ma, Jun Tang, Faris Alzahrani & Aatef Hobiny - 2017 - Complexity 2017:1-9.
Autapse is a specific synapse connected to the neuron via close loop, and its functional adjusting is described by applying time-delayed feedback on the membrane potential of the neuron. This paper discussed the possible formation mechanism and biological function of autapse connection on neurons. We believe that the formation and growth of autapse connected to neuron can be associated with injury on axon and blocking in signal transmission; thus auxiliary loop is developed to form an autapse. When autapse is set (...)

While previous research has established that employees who have a more conscientious leader are more likely to perceive that their leader is ethical, the underlying mechanisms and boundary conditions of this linkage remain unknown. In order to better understand the relationship between leader conscientiousness and ethical leadership, we examine the potential mediating role of leader moral reflectiveness, as well as the potential moderating role of decision-making autonomy. Drawing from social cognitive theory, results from two samples of workgroup leaders and their (...)

Lump Solutions and Interaction Solutions for the Dimensionally Reduced Nonlinear Evolution Equation.Baoyong Guo, Huanhe Dong & Yong Fang - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-9.
In this paper, by means of the Hirota bilinear method, a dimensionally reduced nonlinear evolution equation is investigated. Through its bilinear form, lump solutions are obtained. We construct interaction solutions between lump solutions and one soliton solution by choosing quadratic functions and exponential function. Interaction solutions with the combinations of exponential functions and sine function are also given. Meanwhile, the figures of these solutions are plotted. The dynamical characteristics and properties of obtained solutions are discussed, respectively. The results show that (...)

The organic-rich Lower Silurian Longmaxi and Upper Ordovician Wufeng Shale is one of the most important marine shale gas plays in southern China, with relatively high thermal maturity and complex structural evolution. The delineation of the Jiaoshiba shale gas play has been highly successful for the LSLUOWS in the Fuling area of southeastern Sichuan Basin. The drilling targets the basal part of the LSLUOWS, where the approximately 38–45 m of organic-rich section corresponds to a maturity range around 2.2%–3.0% Ro, with (...)
