The Character and Economic Preference of City Network of China: A Study Based on the Chinese Global Fortune 500 Enterprises.Xinzheng Zhao, Jing Su, Jing Chao, Xiaoqiong Liu, Tongsheng Li, Yang Rui & Jun Yang - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-11.
Based on the data of Chinese enterprises that entered the Fortune 500 list in 2015, this paper utilizes the eclectic model to construct the inter-city association network. Using the network analysis method, the spatial connection characteristics of 311 inter-city networks at prefecture level and above and 20 urban agglomerations networks in China are examined, respectively. The research found the following: the overall connectivity of city network is poor, the centripetal concentration is strong, and the network is not complete. The city (...)

Transferable Feature Representation for Visible-to-Infrared Cross-Dataset Human Action Recognition.Yang Liu, Zhaoyang Lu, Jing Li, Chao Yao & Yanzi Deng - 2018 - Complexity 2018:1-20.
Recently, infrared human action recognition has attracted increasing attention for it has many advantages over visible light, that is, being robust to illumination change and shadows. However, the infrared action data is limited until now, which degrades the performance of infrared action recognition. Motivated by the idea of transfer learning, an infrared human action recognition framework using auxiliary data from visible light is proposed to solve the problem of limited infrared action data. In the proposed framework, we first construct a (...)

The Effect of Shame on Anger at Others: Awareness of the Emotion-Causing Events Matters.Ruida Zhu, Zhenhua Xu, Honghong Tang, Jiting Liu, Huanqing Wang, Ying An, Xiaoqin Mai & Chao Liu - 2019 - Cognition and Emotion 33 (4):696-708.
ABSTRACTNumerous studies have found that shame increases individuals’ anger at others. However, according to recent theories about the social function of shame and anger at others, it is possible that shame controls individuals’ anger at others in specific conditions. We replicated previous findings that shame increased individuals’ anger at others’ unfairness, when others were not aware of the individual’s experience of shameful events. We also found for the first time that shame controlled or even decreased individuals’ anger at others’ unfairness, (...)

    The Attitudes of Neonatal Professionals Towards End-of-Life Decision-Making for Dying Infants in Taiwan.Li-Chi Huang, Chao-Huei Chen, Hsin-Li Liu, Ho-Yu Lee, Niang-Huei Peng, Teh-Ming Wang & Yue-Cune Chang - 2013 - Journal of Medical Ethics 39 (6):382-386.
The purposes of research were to describe the neonatal clinicians' personal views and attitudes on neonatal ethical decision-making, to identify factors that might affect these attitudes and to compare the attitudes between neonatal physicians and neonatal nurses in Taiwan. Research was a cross-sectional design and a questionnaire was used to reach different research purposes. A convenient sample was used to recruit 24 physicians and 80 neonatal nurses from four neonatal intensive care units in Taiwan. Most participants agreed with suggesting a (...)

Improving Urban Resilience Through Green Infrastructure: An Integrated Approach for Connectivity Conservation in the Central City of Shenyang, China.Zhimin Liu, Chunliang Xiu & Chao Ye - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-15.
Green infrastructure as an operational physical framework is being increasingly recognized as the most cost-effective way to mitigate and adapt to social-ecological challenges through multifunctional ecosystem services. Conserving the connectivity of GI is conducive to maintaining biodiversity and facilitating ecological processes, which contributes to promote urban resilience and implies that urban governance has made a conscious effort to prepare for uncertainties. Though important, there are few studies on operating GI practically to navigate urban resilience. Based on interdisciplinary knowledge and multiple (...)

Source-to-Sink System in the South Bank of Qinghai Lake.Wenmao Xu, Zaixing Jiang, Ji Chen, Chao Liu & Lingyu Dong - 2018 - Interpretation: SEG 6 (1):T109-T126.
In the south bank of Qinghai Lake, numerous alluvial fans and coastal deposits have been formed. In terms of their developmental positions and relationships, the denudation system, depositional system, and transportation system consist of source-to-sink systems. Based on the field-investigation evidence and literature survey, it was confirmed that the developmental processes of these “source-to-sink” systems can be divided into three stages: the Early-Late Pleistocene stage, from 39 to 23 ka BP; Late Pleistocene-Early Holocene stage, from 39 to 10.7 ka BP; (...)
