‘See No Evil, Read No Evil’: The Failing Role of Turkish Newspapers in Coverage of Turkey’s 2016 Coup Attempt.Lyndon C. S. Way, Gökçen Karanfil & Aytunç Erçifci - 2018 - Critical Discourse Studies 15 (5):481-499.
ABSTRACTOn 15 July 2016, a group of soldiers tried to wrestle political control of Turkey from the elected government. The ‘coup attempt’ was declared over within approximately 10 h, but not before more than 300 civilians, police and soldiers had died. This paper examines how Turkish newspapers which are known to be ‘oppositional’ represented events of the night and the following few days before a state of emergency was declared which silenced almost all opposition. Through a close examination of images (...)

Some Applications of Infinitely Long Formulas.H. Jerome Keisler - 1965 - Journal of Symbolic Logic 30 (3):339-349.
Introduction. This paper is a sequel to our paper [3]. In that paper we introduced the notion of a finite approximation to an infinitely long formula, in a language L with infinitely long expressions of the type considered by Henkin in [2]. The results of the paper [3] show relationships between the models of an infinitely long sentence and the models of its finite approximations. In the present paper we shall apply the main result of [3] to prove a number (...)

    Personal Religiousness and Ethical Judgements: An Empirical Analysis. [REVIEW]James W. Clark & Lyndon E. Dawson - 1996 - Journal of Business Ethics 15 (3):359 - 372.
It has been acknowledged on numerous occasions that personal religiousness is a potential source of ethical norms, and consequently, an influence in ethical evaluations. An extensive literature review provides little in the way of empirical investigation of this recognized affect. This investigation conceptualizes religiousness as a motivation for ethical action, and discovers significant differences in ethical judgements among respondents categorized by personal religious motivation. Suggestions as to the source of these differences, and the implications which they offer to managers are (...)

    Nonfallacious Rhetorical Strategies: Lyndon Johnson’s Daisy Ad. [REVIEW]Scott Jacobs - 2006 - Argumentation 20 (4):421-442.
The traditional concepts of rhetorical strategy and argumentative fallacy cannot be readily reconciled. Doing so requires escaping the following argument: All argumentation involves rhetorical strategies. All rhetorical strategies are violations of logical or dialectical ideals. All violations of logical or dialectical ideals are fallacies. Normative pragmatics provides a perspective in which rhetorical strategies can be seen to have the potential for constructive contributions to argumentation and in which fallacies are not simply violations of ideals. One kind of constructive contribution, framing (...)

    Morale publique, lien social, lien religieux.

Relational Rights and Responsibilities: Revisioning the Family in Liberal Political Theory and Law.Martha Minow & Mary Lyndon Shanley - 1996 - Hypatia 11 (1):4 - 29.
This article discusses three main orientations in recent works of legal and political theory about the family-contract-based, community-based, and rights-based-and argues that none of these takes adequate account of two paradoxical features of family life and of the family's relationship to the state. A coherent political and legal theory of the family in the contemporary United States requires recognition of the relational rights and responsibilities intrinsic to family life.

'Humanist Community Workers': A Project for Australian Humanism.Storey Lyndon - 2017 - Australian Humanist, The 125:9.
Storey, Lyndon Humanism is an approach to life in its own right: it is not simply the rejection of religion. Nor is it just the continuing on of religiously inspired values without an accompanying belief in God. Humanism relies on exploring human potential, including our potential for such things as compassion, love, and to find a path to a fulfilling and meaningful life. Humanism is an essentially social set of beliefs with its emphasis on common humanity and it can (...)

Positive Humanism as an Alternative to Religion.Lyndon Storey - 2015 - Australian Humanist, The 116:3.
Storey, Lyndon Positive humanism is based on the idea that there is a positive potential in human beings. This includes the potential to help others, to find joy and meaning in life, and to use reason and creativity. It is not a guarantee of future perfection, but a positive potential. Acknowledging and nurturing this potential can improve an individual's chances of finding happiness and fulfilment in life, and a society's chances of becoming more harmonious and fulfilling for its members. Uniform Lyndon interpolation property in propositional modal logics.Taishi Kurahashi - 2020 - Archive for Mathematical Logic 59 (5-6):659-678.
We introduce and investigate the notion of uniform Lyndon interpolation property which is a strengthening of both uniform interpolation property and Lyndon interpolation property. We prove several propositional modal logics including \, \, \ and \ enjoy ULIP. Our proofs are modifications of Visser’s proofs of uniform interpolation property using layered bisimulations Gödel’96, logical foundations of mathematics, computer science and physics—Kurt Gödel’s legacy, Springer, Berlin, 1996). Also we give a new upper bound on the complexity of uniform interpolants (...)

Lyndon’s Interpolation Property for the Logic of Strict Implication.Narbe Aboolian & Majid Alizadeh - forthcoming - Logic Journal of the IGPL.
The main result proves Lyndon’s and Craig’s interpolation properties for the logic of strict implication ${\textsf{F}}$, with a purely syntactical method. A cut-free G3-style sequent calculus $ {\textsf{GF}} $ and its single-succedent variant $ \textsf{GF}_{\textsf{s}} $ are introduced. $ {\textsf{GF}} $ can be extended to a G3-variant of the sequent calculus GBPC3 for Visser’s basic logic. Also a simple syntactic proof of known embedding result of $ {\textsf{F}} $ into $ {\textsf{K}} $ is provided. An extension of $ {\textsf{F}} (...)

With each projective geometry we can associate a Lyndon algebra. Such an algebra always satisfies Tarski's axioms for relation algebras and Lyndon algebras thus form an interesting connection between the fields of projective geometry and algebraic logic. In this paper we prove that if G is a class of projective geometries which contains an infinite projective geometry of dimension at least three, then the class L(G) of Lyndon algebras associated with projective geometries in G has an undecidable (...)
