  1. Business Students' Perception of Ethics and Moral Judgment: A Cross-Cultural Study. [REVIEW]Mohamed M. Ahmed, Kun Young Chung & John W. Eichenseher - 2003 - Journal of Business Ethics 43 (1-2):89 - 102.
Business relations rely on shared perceptions of what is acceptable/expected norms of behavior. Immense expansion in transnational business made rudimentary consensus on acceptable business practices across cultural boundaries particularly important. Nonetheless, as more and more nations with different cultural and historical experiences interact in the global economy, the potential for misunderstandings based on different expectations is magnified. Such misunderstandings emerge in a growing literature on "improper" business practices – articulated from a narrow cultural perspective. This paper reports an ongoing research (...)

The Application of an Artificial Neural Network for 2D Coordinate Transformation.Mamoun Ubaid Mohammed, Oday Y. M. Alhamadani & Ahmed Imad Abbas - 2022 - Journal of Intelligent Systems 31 (1):739-752.
Clark1880, WGS1984, and ITRF08 are the reference systems used in Iraq. The ITRF08 and WGS84 represent the global reference frames. In the majority of instances, the transformation from one coordinate system to another is required. The ability of the artificial neural network to identify the connection between two coordinate systems without the need for a mathematical model is one of its most significant benefits. In this study, an ANN was employed for two-dimensional coordinate transformation from local Clark1880 to the global (...)

Risk attitude is known to be a key determinant of various economic and financial choices. Behavioral studies that aim to evaluate the role of risk attitudes in contexts of this type, therefore, require tools for measuring individual risk tolerance. Recent developments in decision theory provide such tools. However, the methods available can be time consuming. As a result, some practitioners might have an incentive to prefer “fast and frugal” methods to clean but more costly methods. In this article, we focus (...)

In early 2020 COVID-19 turned the whole world into place of horror, capitals into ghost-towns, and hospitals into tombs. But this was not the first time the world was hit by such a catastrophic pandemic. Many countries have hit by innumerable plagues, epidemics and pandemics. It is important to keep these terrible incidents in the collective memory so that precautions are taken and they do not happen again. In 1947, a huge spread of cholera hit Egypt leaving thousands of death (...)

The standardized precipitation index is one of the most widely used indices for characterizing and monitoring drought in various regions. SPI's applicability has regional and time-scale constraints when it observes in several homogeneous climatic regions with similar characteristics. It also does not provide sufficient knowledge about precipitation deficits and the spatiotemporal evolution of drought. Therefore, a new method, the regional spatially agglomerative continuous drought probability monitoring system, is proposed to obtain spatiotemporal information and monitor drought characteristics more expeditiously. The proposed (...)

A Solution to Unexploded Ordnance Detection Problem From its Magnetic Anomaly Using Kaczmarz Regularization.Maha Abdelazeem & Mohamed M. Gobashy - 2016 - Interpretation: SEG 4 (3):SH61-SH69.
Old military events pose a critical and severe problem for many countries, including the Egyptian northwestern coast. These result in extensive areas of surface/subsurface landmines that affect the economic development plans of many countries. Detection of these landmines becomes a target for many geophysical research teams. Currently, unconventional near-surface flight technologies, such as quad-hexacopters instead of regular land surveys, are used for safety reasons in the acquisition phase. We have introduced a new processing and modeling technique of magnetic data conducted (...)

We show that the U.S. anti-discriminatory laws prohibiting discrimination in the workplace based on sexual orientation and gender identity identities) spur innovation, which ultimately leads to higher firm performance. We use the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index of 398 U.S. firms between 2011 and 2014, and find a significantly positive relationship between CEI and firm innovation. We also find that an interacting effect of CEI and firm innovation leads to higher firm performance. We use our understanding of Rawls’ Theory (...)

In this note we give an interpretation of cylindric algebras as algebras of sentences of first order logic. We show that the isomorphism types of such algebras of sentences coincide with the class of neat reducts of cylindric algebras. Also we show how this interpretation sheds light on some recent results. This is done by likening Henkin's Neat Embedding Theorem to his celebrated completeness proof.

According to a widely credited model in the business ethics literature, ethical decisions are a function of two kinds of factors, personal and situational, and these factors interact with each other. According to a contrary view of decision making that is widely held in some areas of business research, individuals’ decisions about ethical issues are purely a function of their self-interest.The laboratory experiment reported in this paper provides a test of the person-situation interactionist model, using the general theoretical and experimental (...)

In recent years, scholars have sought to investigate the impact that ethical leaders can have within organisations. Yet, only a few theoretical perspectives have been adopted to explain how ethical leaders influence subordinate outcomes. This study therefore draws on social rules theory to extend our understanding of the mechanisms linking ethical leadership to employee attitudes. We argue that ethical leaders reduce disengagement, which in turn promotes higher levels of job satisfaction and organisational commitment, as well as lower turnover intentions. Co-worker (...)

Drawing on social exchange theory, this study examines a mechanism, namely organizational social capital, through which self-sacrificial leadership is related to two types of employee behaviours: organizational citizenship behaviours and counterproductive behaviours. The results of two different studies in Egypt showed that self-sacrificial leadership is positively related to OSC which, in turn, is positively related to OCBs and negatively related to CPBs. Overall, the findings suggest that self-sacrificial leaders are more likely to achieve desirable employee behaviours through improving the quality (...)

High-Resolution Water-Saturation Prediction Using Geostatistical Inversion and Neural Network Methods.Islam A. Mohamed, Mahmoud Hemdan, Ahmed Hosny & Mohamed Rashidy - 2019 - Interpretation 7 (2):T455-T465.
One of the main challenges that we face is the accurate prediction of pore-fluid properties with the highest possible resolution. The seismic resolution is the most limiting factor, especially in our case, in which the main reservoirs are deepwater turbidite channels and their thin beds typically fall below the seismic tuning thickness. Therefore, we designed a new workflow that combines the geostatistical inversion and the neural network analysis with the aim of predicting a 3D high-resolution water saturation, overcoming the limitation (...)

Improved Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System Using Gray Wolf Optimization: A Case Study in Predicting Biochar Yield.Ahmed A. Ewees & Mohamed Abd Elaziz - 2019 - Journal of Intelligent Systems 29 (1):924-940.
This paper presents an alternative method for predicting biochar yields from biomass thermochemical processes. As biochar is considered a renewable and sustainable energy source, it has received more attention. Several methods have been presented to predict biochar, such as neural network and least square support vector machine. However, each of them has its own drawbacks, such as getting stuck in a local optimum, which occurs in NN, and lack of uncertainty and time complexity, as in LS-SVM. Therefore, this paper avoids (...)

Diabetes is a major public health issue that affects the nations of our time to a large extent and is described as a non-communicable epidemic. Diabetes mellitus is a common disease where there is too much sugar (glucose) floating around in your blood. This occurs because either the pancreas can’t produce enough insulin or the cells in body have become resistant to insulin. The concentration in this paper is on diagnosis diabetes by designing a proposed expert system. The main goal (...)

A Grey Wolf Optimizer for Text Document Clustering.Hasan Rashaideh, Ahmad Sawaie, Mohammed Azmi Al-Betar, Laith Mohammad Abualigah, Mohammed M. Al-Laham, Ra’ed M. Al-Khatib & Malik Braik - 2019 - Journal of Intelligent Systems 29 (1):814-830.
Text clustering problem is a leading process in many key areas such as information retrieval, text mining, and natural language processing. This presents the need for a potent document clustering algorithm that can be used effectively to navigate, summarize, and arrange information to congregate large data sets. This paper encompasses an adaptation of the grey wolf optimizer for TCP, referred to as TCP-GWO. The TCP demands a degree of accuracy beyond that which is possible with metaheuristic swarm-based algorithms. The main (...)
