    Trois politiques d'intégration dans l'espace francophone.Nobutaka Miura - 2004 - Hermes 40:325.

The formation of sect Shinto in modernizing Japan.Nobutaka Inoue & Mark Teeuwen - 2002 - Japanese Journal of Religious Studies 29:405–427.
This essay analyzes the formation of sect Shinto in the second half of the nineteenth century. It is pointed out that the Shinto sects that constituted sect Shinto were constructed on the basis of preexisting infrastructures, which had developed in response to the profound social changes accompa- nying the modernization process of the Bakumatsu and Meiji periods. Sect Shinto took shape in a cross3re between the impact of modernization from below, and the vicissitudes of Meiji religious policy from above. The (...)

    JNK‐interacting protein 4 is a central molecule for lysosomal retrograde trafficking.Yukiko Sasazawa, Nobutaka Hattori & Shinji Saiki - 2023 - Bioessays 45 (11):2300052.
Lysosomal positioning is an important factor in regulating cellular responses, including autophagy. Because proteins encoded by disease‐responsible genes are involved in lysosomal trafficking, proper intracellular lysosomal trafficking is thought to be essential for cellular homeostasis. In the past few years, the mechanisms of lysosomal trafficking have been elucidated with a focus on adapter proteins linking motor proteins to lysosomes. Here, we outline recent findings on the mechanisms of lysosomal trafficking by focusing on adapter protein c‐Jun NH2‐terminal kinase‐interacting protein (JIP) 4, (...)

Objectives: This study aimed to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to improve subjective well-being (SWB), including evaluative, hedonic, and eudemonic well-being, and the mental component of quality of life (QOL) of working population. Methods: A literature search was conducted, using PubMed, Embase, PsycINFO, and PsycARTICLES. Eligible studies included those that were RCTs of any intervention, conducted among healthy workers, measured SWB as a primary outcome, and original articles in English. Study characteristics, intervention, outcomes, and (...)

    Molecular aspects of atrial natriuretic peptides.Toshiko Imamura & Yoshiaki Miura - 1986 - Bioessays 5 (2):66-75.
Peptides possessing both natriuretic and smooth muscle relaxant activities have been isolated from heart atria and their structures have been determined. The peptides designated ANP (atrial natriuretic peptide) regulate salt and water balance and blood pressure. The scope of this article is to provide a summary of recent research developments directed towards understanding the molecular nature of atrial natriuretic peptides.

Tacit acceptance of compliments after tellings of accomplishment: Contingent management of preferences in Japanese ordinary conversation.Akiko Imamura - 2022 - Discourse Studies 24 (2):206-230.
This study investigates Japanese compliments produced at a distinct sequential position and how the complimentees treat the compliments. In ordinary conversation, speakers sometimes talk about their accomplishments. Drawing on Conversation Analysis and multimodal interaction analysis, the study demonstrates how telling recipients deploy compliments at the possible completion of such tellings of accomplishment. The analysis also shows how the tellers deal with the complimentary telling responses, taking into consideration the design of tellings and the possibility of engaging in self-praise. The study (...)

The loss that has no name:: Social womanhood of foreign wives.Anne E. Imamura - 1988 - Gender and Society 2 (3):291-307.
The data from a sample of wives living in countries not their own led to a challenge of the assumption that womanhood is an ascribed status. The article contrasts social womanhood with biological womanhood and shows the ways wives attempted to bridge the gaps between definitions of womanhood in their own and in their husbands' societies. If womanhood is an achieved status, further work is needed to define the dimensions and the criteria for this status.

BackgroundFunctional changes after spinal cord injury are related to changes in cortical plasticity. These changes can be measured with electroencephalography and has potential to be used as a clinical biomarker.MethodIn this longitudinal study participants underwent a total of 30 sessions of robotic-assisted gait training over a course of 6 weeks. The duration of each session was 30 min. Resting state EEG was recorded before and after 30-session rehabilitation therapy. To measure gait, we used the Walking Index for Spinal Cord Injury (...)

    Defining end-of-life care from perspectives of nursing ethics.S. Izumi, H. Nagae, C. Sakurai & E. Imamura - 2012 - Nursing Ethics 19 (5):608-618.
Despite increasing interests and urgent needs for quality end-of-life care, there is no exact definition of what is the interval referred to as end of life or what end-of-life care is. The purpose of this article is to report our examination of terms related to end-of-life care and define end-of-life care from nursing ethics perspectives. Current terms related to end-of-life care, such as terminal care, hospice care, and palliative care, are based on a medical model and are restrictive in terms (...)

Murasaki’s Epistemological Awakening: Buddhist Philosophical Roots of The Tale of Genji.Sandra A. Wawrytko - 2022 - Journal of Chinese Philosophy 49 (1):36-49.
I approach Murasaki Shikibu’s marvelous literary pearl The Tale of Genji (Genji Monogatari) as analogous to glistening orbs that “come out of the disease of suffering oysters,” the suffering being the death of her beloved husband Fujiwara no Nobutaka (950?–1001). In addition to drawing evidence from the novel itself, I have relied on Murasaki’s lesser-known Poetic Memoirs and Diary that offer important insights into her state of mind and circumspect literary style. The Lotus Sūtra is the key that unlocks (...)

In the fifth version of our response-paper [26] to Imamura’s criticism, we recall that NonStandard Neutrosophic Logic was never used by neutrosophic community in no application, that the quarter of century old neutrosophic operators (1995-1998) criticized by Imamura were never utilized since they were improved shortly after but he omits to tell their development, and that in real world applications we need to convert/approximate the NonStandard Analysis hyperreals, monads and binads to tiny intervals with the desired accuracy – (...)

Deleuze, Japanese Cinema, and the Atom Bomb: The Spectre of Impossibility.David Deamer - 2014 - New York, NY, USA: Bloomsbury.
Deleuze, Japanese Cinema, and the Atom Bomb establishes the first ever sustained encounter between Gilles Deleuze’s Cinema books and post-war Japanese cinema, exploring how Japanese films responded to the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. From the early days of occupation and political censorship to the social and cultural freedoms of the 1960s and beyond, the book examines how images of the nuclear event appear in post-war Japanese cinema. -/- Using Deleuze’s taxonony of cinema, each chapter begins by focusing upon (...)
