El presente trabajo recupera, caracteriza y evalúa el marco antropológico subyacente en la Declaración de los Derechos Humanos de 1948. Motor imagery provides a direct insight into action representations. The aim of the present study was to investigate the level of impairment of action monitoring in schizophrenia by evaluating the performance of schizophrenic patients on mental rotation tasks. We raised the following questions: Are schizophrenic patients impaired in motor imagery both at the explicit and at the implicit level? Are body parts more difficult for them to mentally rotate than objects? Is there any link between the performance and the hallucinating (...) symptom profile? The schizophrenic patients displayed the same pattern of performance as the control subjects . More particularly, schizophrenic patients’ reaction time varied as a function of the angular disparity of the stimuli. On the other hand, they were significantly slower and less accurate. Interestingly, patients suffering from hallucinations made significantly more errors than non-hallucinatory patients. We discussed these latter results in terms of deficit of the forward model. We emphasized the necessity to distinguish different levels of action, more or less impaired in schizophrenia. (shrink)

Focusing only in the phase of this internal Putnamian realism– and particularly exactly as it is expressed in Reason, Truth and History-this work tries to detect some of the places in the Critique of Pure Reason which could back up this statement and give it sense. La confusión de la finalidad física con algún tipo de noción formal lastra incluso la física filosófica de Aristóteles. Pathological tremor is a common but highly complex movement disorder, affecting ~5% of population older than 65 years. Different methodologies have been proposed for its quantification. Nevertheless, the discrimination between Parkinson’s disease tremor and essential tremor remains a daunting clinical challenge, greatly impacting patient treatment and basic research. Here, we propose and compare several movement-based and electromyography-based tremor quantification metrics. For the latter, we identified individual motor unit discharge patterns from high-density surface electromyograms and characterized the neural drive to a (...) single muscle and how it relates to other affected muscles in 27 Parkinson’s disease and 27 essential tremor patients. We also computed several metrics from the literature. The most discriminative metrics were the symmetry of the neural drive to muscles, motor unit synchronization, and the mean log power of the tremor harmonics in movement recordings. Noteworthily, the first two most discriminative metrics were proposed in this study. We then used decision tree modelling to find the most discriminative combinations of individual metrics, which increased the accuracy of tremor type discrimination to 94%. In summary, the proposed neural drive-based metrics were the most accurate at discriminating and characterizing the two most common pathological tremor types. (shrink)

The paradigmatic modern comprehension of physical movement falls short in thematizing the intervention in it of final causality. Even in Aristotle’s philosophical physics the final cause is confused with a formal notion. This paper seeks to understand the final physical cause as a real principle, non mental, guiding formal variation, which doesn’t act —or attract— without the other causes distinguished by the Stagirite, the influence of which in kinetic tricausalities is the ultimate reason for the evolutive unfolding of these in (...) the physical universe. A partir de lo sostenido por Aristóteles en el texto conclusivo del capítulo sexto del libro noveno de la Metafísica, donde describe la noción de acto distinguiendo la actividad anímica respecto del movimiento físico, parece viable sostener la tesis acerca de la extratemporalidad del pensar, al menos respecto del tiempo del cosmos.
Is there any way out -aside from the possibilities offered by skeptical and utilitarist thinking- to the problems which face modern science? Polo be-lieves that first it would be necessary to explain the reasons which pro-voke change in scientific models: why are the paradigms, and the views of reality which they propose, substitutable?
This paper deals with the third dimension in the Polian philosophical method, the abandonment of the mental limit, in correspondence with the habit of wisdom, and explains the intrinsical duality, or transparence, which characterizes the personal human being, theme of transcendental anthropology, distinguishing it from the extramental being studied in metaphysics.
This article offers a commentary on some passages of the Introduction to the second volume of the Antropología trascendental, where Polo proposes the act of human being according to the character of además, which is equivalent to the personal living in view of its conversion, on a transcendental level, with the personal freedom and the intimacy as higher transcendentals than those of principial being. In addition, the decrease of essential level proceeding from these personal transcendentals is equivalent to the essential (...) human life increasing without restriction, in which natural organic individual life is actively received, and which is thereby spiritually revitalized. In contrast to Heidegger's claim which establishes the end of metaphysics, it is generally upheld that Polo's proposal regrding the expansion -through anthropology- of the metaphysic's own transcendental reach permits supersedence without lessening perennity. Thus widening requires not only a thematical explanation but also a methodical one, upon which the congruency both of metaphysics and of anthropology, as different types of philosophy for the transcendental, can be established. This method springs forth from the detection of the limiting character that revolves (...) around mental presence. It is actuality understood as the least intellectual act in human knowledge, and deserts the intellective modality by means of superior intellectual acts. (shrink)
This paper deals with the Polian notion of liberty as one of the transcendentals that belongs to human personal being, in its equivalence to the purely methodical quality of the intrinsically dual “actuose” condition of the besides [“además”] character as act of being, which converts with the human person, and therefore in distinction with transcendental being as principle.
In this paper, after briefly reviewing and explaining the access to God in Polo's philosophy, according to the four ways of the "abandonment of mental limit" method, and showing what can be gained from each of them, I gloss the way of a possible access into the Intimacy of the divine as Origin. I hold that, while we cannot acquire an ultimate access to it, we can conclude at least that it is impossible for this Intimacy to be intrinsically solitary. (...) This paper discusses the will and the willfulness, especially their intellectual condition, even in what concerns to voluntary power, because we knoe the good with the unconditional extension as “other than being” in its essence, or possible of being.
Standing upon Leonardo Polo's interpretation about Aristotle's doctrine on sensitive cognition, some aspects of the sensorial organical inmutation required in it are examined, and a thesis concerning de common sense as center and root of sensibility -not only exterior, but also interior- is suggested. According to this thesis, even the sensorial and organical inmutations belonging to the other internal senses can return to de organ of the common sense, which becomes the central and radical organ. Therefore all sensible objectivation should (...) take place in the common sense. This conclusion does not agree with Polo's position. (shrink)
This paper glosses the Polian method of the abandonment of mental limit as a ‘transcendence’ of presence —which detains objectivising knowledge and separates it in its actuality from real activity and dynamism. In this way the extrapolatio of presential actuality as a form of the substantial being is avoided, as is its reduction to an effective determination —in the style of modality of assertive judgement. From these premises, Polo’s understanding of the real distinction of the potential essence and the act (...) of created being which transcends it —without separation from it—, as the inherent differentiation of possibilities temporally unfolded by said act, and finds that the real distinction between the radical primacy which pertains to the principle —extramental— act of being and to the intrinsically dual —personal human being. En el presente artículo analizamos el motivo de «los reyes de Etiopía y Nubia» en una de las familias textuales del Apocalipsis árabe del Pseudo Atanasio. El propósito de este trabajo es demostrar, mediante el análisis de los elementos que conforman el motivo, cómo los autores de obras apocalípticas trabajaron sobre la base de un material en buena medida estandarizado, al que denominamos testimonia, del que se sirvió cada autor en función de circunstancias varias. Esta labor plasmada en los (...) textos apocalípticos fue generada y desarrollada en el seno de una tradición textual y literaria en la que el recurso a la intertextualidad actuó como un mecanismo estructural determinante en la configuración, modelización y pervivencia de este género literario con el paso de los siglos entre las varias comunidades cristianas orientales.
