Deviant Action and Self-Narration: A Qualitative Survey Through Atlas.Ti.Patrizia Patrizi - 2005 - Journal for the Theory of Social Behaviour 35 (2):171–188.
This paper has its roots in qualitative analysis of accounts produced by an Italian serial killer. Theoretical references are related to symbolic interactionism and its developments in the field of psychology and criminology. The whole contribution is aimed to twofold purposes: A) to provide a set of criteria specifically addressed to study deviant action as system of meanings into two related contexts: the single action itself and the whole life history. According this point, paper introduces the concept of “deviant career” (...)

Progression and Verification of Situation Calculus Agents with Bounded Beliefs.Giuseppe De Giacomo, Yves Lespérance, Fabio Patrizi & Stavros Vassos - 2016 - Studia Logica 104 (4):705-739.
We investigate agents that have incomplete information and make decisions based on their beliefs expressed as situation calculus bounded action theories. Such theories have an infinite object domain, but the number of objects that belong to fluents at each time point is bounded by a given constant. Recently, it has been shown that verifying temporal properties over such theories is decidable. We take a first-person view and use the theory to capture what the agent believes about the domain of interest (...)

    Francesco Patrizi da Cherso's Criticism of Aristotle's Logic Francesco Patrizi da Cherso's Criticism of Aristotle's Logic.Luc Deitz - 2007 - Vivarium 45 (1):113-124.
Francesco Patrizi da Cherso's Discussiones peripateticae are one of the most comprehensive analyses of the whole of Aristotelian philosophy to be published before Werner Jaeger's Aristoteles. The main thrust of the argument in the Discussiones is that whatever Aristotle had said that was true was not new, and that whatever he had said that was new was not true. The article shows how Patrizi proves this with respect to the Organon, and deals with the implications for the history (...)

Francesco Patrizi da Cherso's Concept of Space and its Later Influence.John Henry - 1979 - Annals of Science 36 (6):549-573.
This study considers the contribution of Francesco Patrizi da Cherso to the development of the concepts of void space and an infinite universe. Patrizi plays a greater role in the development of these concepts than any other single figure in the sixteenth century, and yet his work has been almost totally overlooked. I have outlined his views on space in terms of two major aspects of his philosophical attitude: on the one hand, he was a devoted Platonist and (...)

Scholars dealing with Jessenius’ attitude towards Patrizi’s thoughts differ radically in their assessment of Jessenius’ intentions: Jessenius’ approach has been considered to be badly done plagiarism, a purely opportunistic act, an honest but not long-lasting fascination with Patrizi’s Platonism, or a correct understanding of Patrizi’s grasp of his own philosophy. The reason for the dissimilarities could be said to be the interpretation of the form of Jessenius’ reception of Francesco Patrizi’s philosophy is usually only based on (...)

Francesco Patrizi E Sei Errori di Aristotele Nella Definizione Del Tempo.

  19. The Concept of Panaugia According to Francesco Patrizi and John Amos Comenius.Jan Cizek - 2016 - Archiwum Historii Filozofii I Myśli Społecznej 61 (61):153-164.
The paper deals with the question of the relation between Francesco Patrizi and John Amos Comenius, especially in the regard to the metaphysics of light and its concept panaugia. It is without doubt that Comenius adopted the basic principles of his conception of the metaphysics of light from Patrizi. The light is crucial not only for the metaphysics of both authors; it also figures as a central part of their epistemological conceptions, which are de facto identical. Although (...) and Comenius deal with the concept panaugia and understand the metaphysics of light in the same sense, they differ in their further handling of it. While Patrizi focuses on the natural-philosophical aspect of panaugia, Comenius further elaborates the epistemological and panorthotical aspect of the metaphysics of light. (shrink)
