À partir de trois angles d’emblemata portés par d’épaisses plaques de mortier, l’étude envisage l’iconographie, la technique et l’usage de trois panneaux mosaïqués (fin iie‑début ier s.) découverts à Délos. Deux d’entre eux proviennent d’un sanctuaire (Kynthion, Samothrakeion) et le troisième d’une maison. Celui du Kynthion représente un visage qui n’avait pas été reconnu jusqu’ici. Aucun de ces trois panneaux figurés n’a été fixé dans un pavement ou une paroi. L’examen de ces documents conduit à reconnaître l’existence de panneaux mosaïqués (...) – des pinakes – éléments mobiliers dont les correspondants en peinture sont connus depuis longtemps. Les sources iconographiques et textuelles peuvent venir à l’appui de cette interprétation des vestiges. (shrink)

En este artículo intentaremos demostrar que precisamente una aparente confusión de Plutarco, desconocemos si intencionada o no, nos puso en contacto con el sentido ordinario que el término "Biblioteke" tendrá posteriormente hasta la actualidad. Llegar a esta conclusión supone un detallado análisis de la fundación de la Biblioteca de Alejandría atendiendo a su punto de partida desde la aplicación de la filosofía aristotélica a la configuración no sólo de un espacio ordenado para libros sino de un ámbito imaginario de lectura (...) desde el que se establece el mundo de relaciones helenístico. Este monopolio que, como industria del libro, nace y se desarrolla con la filología alejandrina, por obra de Calimaco y sus Pínakes se convierte en una "guía" platónica para la generalización de la biblioteca como una entidad de posible reproducción en cualquier parte, cambiando así el primitivo sentido del término e incluso su función restringida a un solo lugar. Finalmente, un análisis preciso de la frase de Plutarco nos confirmará en esta interpretación. (shrink)

The article presents the preliminary results of the author’s study of the unedited homily De transfiguratione et eleemosyna, ascribed to John Chrysostom. The question of the manuscript tradition is first discussed. The article shows that Maurice Sachot is right when he indicates only the manuscript Romanus Angelicus gr. 125 as a manuscript witness of this homily and that the other two witnesses indicated by Pinakes are erroneous. Then, the descriptions of the folios that preserve the homily are analysed in (...) the light of a new examination of them. This re-examination shows that hitherto several sources that inspired the compiler have gone unnoticed. This is followed by a brief summary of the contents of the homily and an analysis of the passages in which almsgiving is mentioned.Contribution: The article offers a re-examination of the folios 353v–361 from the manuscript Romanus Angelicus gr. 125, the first presentation of the content of the homily De transfiguratione et eleemosyna, and tries to shed light on the association of the theme of the Transfiguration with almsgiving. Thanks to the experimental nature of the conference where this research was originally discussed, the article offers a quick survey of the production, circulation and reception of manuscripts with philosophical texts in the Byzantine world, under a new methodology. In the first part, some of the most important manuscripts of philosophical texts are ‘stratigraphically’ analized: in this way, historiographical totem as the so-called «premier humanisme byzantin» or the «macedonian Renaissance» are discussed and revised. In the second part, I examine literary (...) evidences about the circulation of philosophical works in the different periods of Byzantine history, prudently trying to connect them with the quantitative datas which can be inferred from databases as the Mertens-Pack 3 and Pinakes. F. 1v-9v of the codex Vat. gr. 1020, which is dated to the first half of the 14th century, contains seven unknown and anonymous letters, the last one mutilated. In this study, at first, the ascription of the letters to Maximus Neamonites as proposed by the database of the PINAKES is rejected, and a number of assumptions are made concerning the name of their writer in the light of the little prosopographical information offered. The content is studied, as well (...) as the style of the letters and their place in the literary context of the Palaiologan Rennaisance of the 13th-14th centuries. A critical edition of the letters completes the article. (shrink)

The aim of this paper is to prove how what is apparently a mistake made by Plutarch, wheter deliberate or not, in his reference to the arson attack of Caesar´s soldiers in Alexandria as the end of the famous Library, show us the common sense of the term “bibliotheke” from that time up to now. Coming to this conclusion has required a detailed analysis of the Library of Alexandria since its birth applying Aristotelian doctrine to its configuration not only as (...) an organized space for books but also as an imaginary reading room from which the helenistic world of relations is established. In a second approach, we focus the attention on the change occurred in this collection with the introduction of alphabetical order and, then, with the philological activity of Callimachus. As a result of his Pinakes, the platonic concept of daimon, “guide”, became the first characteristic o a philologist or librarian. Using the information ordered in the Pinakes anybody could be a librarian and find a library anywhere. The old megále bibliotheke of Alexandría remains only with the idea of the conservation of original papyrus. This is de reason of the enigmatic sentence of Plutarch announcing the end of this situation caused by the action of the fire. (shrink)

en La présente étude entreprend de réévaluer la figure de la déesse Perséphone telle qu’elle apparaît dans une partie du corpus des lamelles funéraires en or. Il s’agit de montrer que l’importance régionale de la Perséphone de Locres a contribué à la représentation de la déesses dans les lamelles destinées à être utilisées en Grande Grèce. Des représentations mythiques et cultuelles sur les tablettes en terre cuite (pinakes) dédiées à cette déesse révèlent non seulement une « reine chtonienne », (...) mais aussi une divinité concernée par les sphères du mariage et de la naissance. Ces compétences entrent en résonance avec les notions de transition et de renaissance attestées dans les textes des lamelles d’or. Grâce à son importance régionale, la Perséphone de Locres fonctionnait comme une figure familière, capable d’ancrer dans le terreau existant des croyances locales l’expérience nouvelle et individuelle de l’initiation exprimée sur les lamelles. La Cátedra de Historia Naval, impulsada por la Armada Española y la Universidad de Murcia, tiene entre sus objetivos investigar y difundir la Historia y el Patrimonio Naval y Marítimo. Con objeto acercar el conocimiento científico y la información divulgativa versada en esta materia al usuario, nuestra institución no se limita a utilizar los canales clásicos de comunicación como pueden ser los artículos y las monografías, entre otros, sino que, en su apuesta por las Humanidades Digitales, hace un uso pro-activo (...) de un blog y de unos perfiles en las redes sociales que, aparentemente, nos hacen contactar con el lector virtual de manera eficaz. Con el objetivo de seguir mejorando, a través del presente trabajo se analizan qué temas han suscitado un mayor interés entre los lectores de nuestras herramientas sociales, a través del estudio de las publicaciones de nuestra bitácora 2.0 y del reflejo de éstas en nuestra página en Facebook. La respuesta nos ayudará a conocer mejor los intereses y necesidades de información de los usuarios y, consecuentemente, podremos seguir perfeccionando los puentes digitales que hemos tendido entre ellos y la Historia y del Patrimonio Naval y Marítimo.
