For the lower Silurian Longmaxi marine shale reservoir in the Jiaoshiba area, Sichuan Basin, China, the traditional P-impedance is insensitive for predicting good reservoirs. As an integral indicator of borehole radioactivity that is substantially corresponding to the organic richness, the uranium curve is qualified to identify the abundance of organic matter. Therefore, to efficiently comprehend the shale distribution in the Jiaoshiba area, we have adopted a so-called pseudo-P-impedance, which is constructed from the P-impedance and the uranium log and spatially computed (...) from impedance inversion of the zero-offset seismic. The [Formula: see text] log shows an obvious correlation with the organic richness of the shale. The thickness of the high-quality shale derived from the inverted [Formula: see text] cube shows a higher correlation with the log data compared to the traditional P-impedance cube. The distribution of predicted high-quality shale is strongly influenced by the fault systems: Although the fault development zone might lead to a distorted image of the seismic and weak shale evaluation, the shale gas cannot be efficiently preserved in these places, and high-quality shale reservoirs are mainly distributed in the not-faulted area and show a general northeast–southwest trend. In previous experiments on unconscious thought, information was presented to participants in one continuous session; however, in daily life, information is delivered in a temporally partitioned way. We examined whether unconscious thought could equally integrate temporally scattered information when making overall evaluations. When presenting participants with information in two temporally partitioned sessions, participants’ overall evaluation was based on neither the information in the first session nor that in the second session ; instead, information in both sessions were equally integrated to (...) reach a final judgment. Conscious thought, however, overemphasized information in the second session. Experiments 3 and 4 further ruled out possible influencing factors including differences in the distributions of positive/negative attributes in the first and second sessions and on-line judgment. These findings suggested that unconscious thought can integrate information from a wider range of periods during an evaluation, while conscious thought cannot. (shrink)
People are the most important factors of economy and the primary carriers of social culture. Cross-border migration brings economic and cultural impacts to the origin and destination and is also a key to reflect the international relations of related countries. In fact, the migration relationships of countries are complex and multilateral, but most traditional migration models are bilateral. Network theories could provide a better description of global migration to show the structure and statistical characteristics more clearly. Based on the estimated (...) migration data and disparity filter algorithm, the networks describing the global multilateral migration relationships have been extracted among 200 countries over fifty years. The results show that the global migration networks during 1960–2015 exhibit a clustering and disassortative feature, implying globalized and multipolarized changes of migration during these years. The networks were embed into a Poincaré disk, yielding a typical and hierarchical “core-periphery” structure, which is associated with angular density distribution, and has been used to describe the “multicentering” trend since 1990s. Analysis on correlation and evolution of communities indicates the stability of most communities, yet some structural changes still exist since 1990s, which reflect that the important historical events are contributable to regional and even global migration patterns. Recently, collaborative representation-based classification and its many variations have been widely applied for various classification tasks in pattern recognition. To further enhance the pattern discrimination of CRC, in this article we propose a novel extension of CRC, entitled discriminative, competitive, and collaborative representation-based classification. In the proposed DCCRC, the class discrimination information is fully utilized for promoting the true class of each testing sample to dominantly represent the testing sample during collaborative representation. The class discrimination information is well considered in (...) the newly designed discriminative l2-norm regularization that can decrease the ability of representation from the interclasses of each testing sample. Simultaneously, a competitive l2-norm regularization is introduced to the DCCRC model with the class discrimination information with the aim of enhancing the competitive ability of representation from the true class of each testing sample. The effectiveness of the proposed DCCRC is explored by extensive experiments on the several public face databases and some real numerical UCI data sets. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed DCCRC achieves the superior performance over the state-of-the-art representation-based classification methods. (shrink)
In contrast to the rapid integration of the world economy, many regional trade agreements have also emerged since the early 1990s. This contradiction has encouraged scholars and policymakers to explore the true effects of RTAs, including both regional and global trade relationships. This paper defines synthesized trade resistance and decomposes it into natural and artificial factors. Here, we separate the influence of geographical distance, economic volume, and overall increase in transportation and labor costs and use the expectation maximization algorithm to (...) optimize the parameters and quantify the trade purity indicator, which describes the true global trade environment and relationships among countries. This indicates that although global and most regional trade relations gradually deteriorated during the period 2007–2017, RTAs generate trade relations among members, especially contributing to the relative prosperity of European Union and North American Free Trade Agreement countries. In addition, we apply the network to reflect the purity of the trade relations among countries. The effects of RTAs can be analyzed by comparing typical trade unions and trade communities, which are presented using an empirical network structure. This analysis shows that the community structure is quite consistent with some trade unions, and the representative RTAs constitute the core structure of international trade network. However, the role of trade unions has weakened, and multilateral trade liberalization has accelerated in the past decade. This means that more countries have recently tended to expand their trading partners outside of these unions rather than limit their trading activities to RTAs. (shrink)
