Dieses philosophische Werk stammt von Johannes Reinke (1849-1931), einem bekannten Botaniker, der sich zunehmend mit philosophischen Fragen auseinandersetzte und als führender Vertreter des Neo-Vitalismus eine scharfe, religiös motivierte Abgrenzung zum Darwinismus vollzog.Die Auseinandersetzung mit Darwin ist auch ein Teil dieses Buches.

Die Musik hat im Schaffen des Philosophen Ernst Bloch (1885-1977) unbestritten einen hohen Stellenwert. Den Grundstein für die lebenslange Beschäftigung mit ihr legte er in seinem frühen Hauptwerk "Geist der Utopie", das 1918 in einer ersten und 1923 in einer stark überarbeiteten Fassung erschien. Reinke Schwinning kommentiert Schlüsselpassagen des zentralen, 150 Seiten starken Kapitels dieser Schrift: Blochs "Philosophie der Musik." Methodisch spürt der Autor den geistigen wie musikalischen Kontexten nach, die den Text umlagern. So deckt er intellektuelle Verbindungen zu (...) Richard Wagner, Hans Pfitzner, Arthur Schopenhauer, Friedrich Nietzsche, Immanuel Kant und anderen auf. Ausserdem erläutert er Blochs musikalische Bezüge, die sich auf die 'grossen Namen' beschränken: auf Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Wagner, Mahler oder Bruckner. Schliesslich fördert Schwinnings Kommentar die strukturelle und logische Stringenz von Blochs "Philosophie der Musik" zu Tage, die sich hinter dessen expressionistisch-komplexer Sprache verbirgt. The 2008 bailout is often taken as evidence of the domination of the US political system by large financial institutions. In fact, the bailout demonstrated the vulnerability of US banks to government pressure. Large banks in the United States could not defy regulators, because their future income depended on the US market. In Britain, by contrast, one bank succeeded in scuttling the preferred governmental solution of an industry-wide recapitalization, because most of its revenue came from outside the United Kingdom. This (...) was an exercise of structural power, but one that most contemporary scholarship on business power ignores or misclassifies, since it limits structural power to the automatic adjustment of policy to the possibility of disinvestment. We show that structural power can be exercised strategically, that it is distinct from instrumental power based on lobbying, and that it explains consequential variations in bailout design in the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Germany. Opponents of mainstream economics have not yet called attention to the lack of in-depth examination of the general scientific conception of modern economics. However, economic science cannot consistently fulfil the epistemological and ontological requirements of the scientific standards underlying this conception. What can be scientifically recognized as true cannot be answered, neither through the actual ontological structure of the object of observation nor through a methodological demarcation. These limitations necessarily lead to the claim for both a pragmatic and a radical (...) methodological pluralism. (shrink)

The author refers to his book “Die Selbstgestaltung des Lebendigen, synoptische Theorie des Lebens als ein Beitrag zu den philosophischen Grundlagen der Naturwissenschaft” and comments some basic theses of it, namely the body-soul-relation, the gestalt and the problem of the “soul” of the plant and the significance of these conceptions for the description and the understanding of the realizing itself of the living being. The Author prefers not to call a soul the transcendent order which is propre to a plant, (...) as to all what lives, and which is the consequence of their quality as a gestalt. He designs with J.Reinke the transcending order of the plant with the name “diaphysis”. He names his theory of life autotelism and has some hope that it can reconcile mecanism and vitalism in the idea of identity of the so called parallel processes in different ontological dimensions. The duality of body or organism and soul or “innen” is a result only of human thinking, really they are a whole together and do not work upon another, but what happens in the one of them, happens at the same moment in the other one like in a mirror. The unity of both has been stated so often, that it sounds rather trivial, but in the book cited above it is described and argued exactly in that sense that phenomene and gignomene in one and the same life process are correspondent structures in different ontological dimensions, coordinated to one another, as it were, like two mathematical co-ordinates.The author replies to a critic who has doubts about the possibility of our thinking to approximate to the problems in question. He designs that kind of thinking which is adequate to that purpose.L'auteur se réfère à son livre „Die Selbstgestaltung des Lebendigen, synoptiscne Theorie des Lebens als ein Beitrag zu den philosophischen Grundlagen der Naturwissenschaft” et commente quelques de ses thèses basales, à dire la relation du corps et de l'âme, la gestalt et le problème de l'âme de la plante et l'importance de ces notions pour la description et l'entendement de la réalisation de l'être vivant par lui-même. L'unité des deux est affirmée si souvent, que cela semble presque trivialement, mais dans le livre cité cela est décrit et argumenté exactement dans le sens, que phénomène et gignomène dans le même procès de vie sont structures correspondantes dans diverses dimensions ontologiques, qui sont coordonnées l'une à l'autre, pour ainsi dire, comme deux coordinates mathematiques.L'auteur replique à un critique qui doute qu'il y ait moyen pour notre méthode de penser de s'approcher aux problèmes en question. The paper focuses on the semiotic principles of the organisation of ecosystems, attempting to find concepts that point to relations and not to elements. (1) Consortium (the term introduced by Johannes Reinke around 1873) can be defined as a group of organisms connected via (sign) relations, or groups of interspecific semiosic links in biocoenosis. The consortial relations include trophic and topic relations, both implying a recognition (identification) of the object by an organism involved (these, i.e., are sign relations). These (...) relations are ecologically inheritable. (2) Umwelt (the term introduced by Jakob von Uexküll around 1909) can be defined as a set of relations an organism has in an ecosystem (as in a semiosphere). The formation of an umwelt is dependent on the modelling system of the organism. (3) Biophony (the term introduced by Bernie Krause around 2000) denotes the coordination of inter- and intra-species relations in a soundscape of a biological community. This can be seen as a special case of Komposition as defined by Jakob and Thure von Uexküll. (4) Ecological code (as introduced, e.g. by Alexander Levich around 1977) can be defined as the set of (sign) relations (regular irreducible correspondences) characteristic to an entire ecosystem. We also mention the concepts of ecomones and coactones (introduced by Marcel Florkin in 1965) as the substances which are responsible for mediation of ecological inter-individual relations. All the relations as sign-relations evidently imply both a static or structuralist description (in terms of codes), and a processual description (in terms of semiosis carried on by interpretation). We conclude that all the above mentioned concepts can be viewed as conceptually connected and are suitable for semiotic description of biological communities. (shrink)
