Environmental Reporting: The U.K. Water and Energy Industries: A Research Note.Stephanie Stray - 2008 - Journal of Business Ethics 80 (4):697-710.
Last year the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) released a new set of revised guidelines upon environmental reporting practices for U.K companies. Two industrial sectors were selected – the Water industry and the Energy industry – and the most recent Environmental Reports produced by companies in these sectors were subjected to content analysis where the coding framework was heavily based on the DEFRA guidelines. Results are reported for the two industries separately and the two industries are (...)

  2. Misgendering and its Moral Contestability.Kapusta Stephanie - 2016 - Hypatia 31 (3):512-519.
In this article, I consider the harms inflicted upon transgender persons through “misgendering,” that is, such deployments of gender terms that diminish transgender persons’ selfrespect, limit the discursive resources at their disposal to define their own gender, and cause them microaggressive psychological harms. Such deployments are morally contestable, that is, they can be challenged on ethical or political grounds. Two characterizations of “woman” proposed in the feminist literature are critiqued from this perspective. When we consider what would happen to transgender (...)

    Remembering Stephanie.C. Brodsky - 2015 - Journal of Bioethical Inquiry 12 (1):33-49.
by Charlee BrodskyStephanie Byram was my friend. She died of breast cancer at age thirty-eight on June 9, 2001. She lived eight years after the disease was discovered. With her cancer diagnosis at age thirty, Stephanie’s life changed. She became more known to others than she would have otherwise. She always had a close circle of friends who were drawn to her because of her candor, her intellect, her impish humor, her steadiness, her sensitivity. But after her diagnosis, many more (...)

Documenting Women’s Postoperative Bodies: Knowing Stephanie and “Remembering Stephanie” as Collaborative Cancer Narratives.Mary K. DeShazer - 2014 - Journal of Bioethical Inquiry 11 (4):445-454.
Photographic representations of women living with or beyond breast cancer have gained prominence in recent decades. Postmillennial visual narratives are both documentary projects and dialogic sites of self-construction and reader-viewer witness. After a brief overview of 30 years of breast cancer photography, this essay analyzes a collaborative photo-documentary by Stephanie Byram and Charlee Brodsky, Knowing Stephanie , and a memorial photographic essay by Brodsky written ten years after Byram’s death, “Remembering Stephanie” . The ethics of representing women’s (...)

Prediction Model of Corrosion Current Density Induced by Stray Current Based on QPSO-Driven Neural Network.Chengtao Wang, Wei Li, Gaifang Xin, Yuqiao Wang & Shaoyi Xu - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-15.
The buried pipelines and metallic structures in subway systems are subjected to electrochemical corrosion under the stray current interference. The corrosion current density determines the degree and the speed of stray current corrosion. A method combining electrochemical experiment with the machine learning algorithm was utilized in this research to study the corrosion current density under the coupling action of stray current and chloride ion. In this study, a quantum particle swarm optimization-neural network model was built up to (...)

Peirce’s “Ideas, Stray or Stolen, About Scientific Writing” and the Relationship Between Methodeutic, Speculative Rhetoric, and the Universal Art of Rhetoric.Gabriele Gava - 2018 - Semiotica 2018 (220):221-234.
This paper is a reading of Peirce’s manuscript “Ideas, stray or stolen, about scientific writing.” The latter text has been considered to be a key for understanding the relationship between speculative rhetoric and methodeutic. While I agree that it includes essential reflections on the third branch of Peirce’s logic, I will argue that the classification of rhetoric studies that it contains cannot be used to clarify the way in which methodeutic and speculative rhetoric are related to one another. I (...)

Humean Critics, Imaginative Fluency, and Emotional Responsiveness: A Follow-Up to Stephanie Ross.Paul Guyer - 2008 - British Journal of Aesthetics 48 (4):445-456.
In ‘Humean Critics: Real or Ideal?’ (BJA 48 (2008): 20-28), Stephanie Ross argues that four of Hume's five criteria for qualified critics in “Of the Standard of Taste’, namely practise, comparison, freedom from prejudice, and good sense, should be understood as conditions for improving the basic constituent of taste, namely delicacy of perception, in real critics whose judgments can be canonical or guiding for the rest of us, but that delicacy of perception needs to be supplemented by what she (...)
