A proof of topological completeness for S4 in.Grigori Mints & Ting Zhang - 2005 - Annals of Pure and Applied Logic 133 (1-3):231-245.
The completeness of the modal logic S4 for all topological spaces as well as for the real line , the n-dimensional Euclidean space and the segment etc. was proved by McKinsey and Tarski in 1944. Several simplified proofs contain gaps. A new proof presented here combines the ideas published later by G. Mints and M. Aiello, J. van Benthem, G. Bezhanishvili with a further simplification. The proof strategy is to embed a finite rooted Kripke structure for S4 into a subspace (...)

When Does Corporate Social Responsibility Backfire in Acquisitions? Signal Incongruence and Acquirer Returns.Tingting Zhang, Zhengyi Zhang & Jingyu Yang - 2022 - Journal of Business Ethics 175 (1):45-58.
This study examines whether an acquirer’s pre-announcement corporate social responsibility (CSR) engagement can provide an insurance-like effect to preserve acquirer returns during the announcement of an acquisition event. Drawing on stakeholder theory and signaling theory, we posit that CSR engagement accrues positive moral capital for an acquirer and sends a positive signal indicating the acquirer’s altruism, both of which temper stakeholders’ negative responses and prevent a reduction in market returns around the announcement of an acquisition. However, high-CSR engagement could backfire (...)

The Integrity of Financial Analysts: Evidence from Asymmetric Responses to Earnings Surprises.Rui Lu, Wenxuan Hou, Henry Oppenheimer & Ting Zhang - 2018 - Journal of Business Ethics 151 (3):761-783.
This paper investigates the integrity of financial analysts by examining their recommendation responses to large quarterly earnings surprises. Although there is no significant difference in recommendation changes between affiliated and unaffiliated analysts in response to positive earnings surprises, affiliated analysts are more reluctant than unaffiliated analysts to downgrade stock recommendations in response to negative earnings surprises. The evidence implies that conflicts of interest undermine the integrity of financial analysts. We further examine the effects of reputation concern and the Global Research (...)

Unpacking boredom factors of Chinese foreign language major students in translation classes: A sequential mixed methods study.Tingyu Zhang - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
Though largely ignored by educators and researchers, boredom, an aversive emotion, is the hurdle for many translation learners to be professional. It is all the more important to unpack the boredom factors of Chinese foreign language major students in translation classes, which will serve in promoting students’ engagement in L2 classes and translator cultivation. By using a sequential mixed approach, this study conducted a thematic analysis and built a structural equation model. Quantitative data were gleaned from 483 foreign major college (...)

  11. Has the Resignation of Independent Directors Holding Government Positions Improved Firm Performance?—A Quasi-Natural Experiment From China.Tingting Zhang, Yanxi Li & Deshuai Hou - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
The Organization Department of the Communist Party of China announced the Opinions on Further Regulation on Party and Political Leaders and Cadres Working Part-Time in Enterprises to force the resignation of government officials holding the position of independent director in listed companies. This paper empirically examines the impact of the GID resignation on firm performance using a difference-in-differences model, which is an exogenous event with a “natural experiment.” The study finds that after the promulgation of the Opinions, firms that lose (...)

Construction and Analysis of Emotion Computing Model Based on LSTM.Huiping Jiang, Rui Jiao, Zequn Wang, Ting Zhang & Licheng Wu - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-12.
The electroencephalogram is the most common method used to study emotions and capture electrical brain activity changes. Long short-term memory processes the temporal characteristics of data and is mostly used for emotional text and speech recognition. Since an EEG involves a time series signal, this article mainly studied the introduction of LSTM for emotional EEG recognition. First, an ALL-LSTM model with a four-layered LSTM network was established in which the average accuracy rate for emotional classification reached 86.48%. Second, four EEG (...)

Impact of Group Art Therapy Using Traditional Chinese Materials on Self-Efficacy and Social Function for Individuals Diagnosed With Schizophrenia.Jie Tong, Wei Yu, Xiwang Fan, Xirong Sun, Jie Zhang, Jiechun Zhang & Tingting Zhang - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 11.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of group art therapy using traditional Chinese materials on improving the self-efficacy and social function of individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia. In China, little research has been conducted on patients to measure the effectiveness of group art therapy, especially using traditional Chinese materials. To address this research gap, 104 individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia were tested in a group art therapy program that included 30 treatment sessions and used a wide variety of (...)

Efficacy of twice-daily high-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation on associative memory.Qiang Hua, Yuanyuan Zhang, Qianqian Li, Xiaoran Gao, Rongrong Du, Yingru Wang, Qian Zhou, Ting Zhang, Jinmei Sun, Lei Zhang, Gong-jun Ji & Kai Wang - 2022 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 16.
ObjectivesSeveral studies have examined the effects of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation on associative memory but findings were inconsistent. Here, we aimed to test whether twice-daily rTMS could significantly improve AM.MethodsIn this single-blind, sham-controlled experiment, 40 participants were randomized to receive twice-daily sham or real rTMS sessions for five consecutive days. The stimulation target in left inferior parietal lobule exhibiting peak functional connectivity to the left hippocampus was individually defined for each participant. Participants completed both a picture-cued word association task and (...)

Development of a Complex Network-Based Integrated Multilayer Urban Growth and Optimisation Model for an Efficient Urban Traffic Network.Rui Ding, Yilin Zhang, Ting Zhang & Can Ma - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-16.
Previous research studies of traffic networks are mainly based on planar networks and less considered the influence of multilayer networks, which illustrate and represent different appropriate urban traffic modes. Development of rail and road networks is inseparable from the development of a prosperous urban area; thus, research on multilayer networks has scientific potential and fulfils a real need. In this paper, a framework of complex network based integrated multilayer urban growth and optimisation model is proposed, to analyse the complex relationships (...)
