    A Bertrand Duopoly Game with Long-Memory Effects.Baogui Xin, Fangrui Cao, Wei Peng & Abdelalim A. Elsadany - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-7.
Reconsidering the Bertrand duopoly game based on the concept of long short-term memory, we construct a fractional-order Bertrand duopoly game by extending the integer-order game to its corresponding fractional-order form. We build such a Bertrand duopoly game, in which both players can make their decisions with long-memory effects. Then, we investigate its Nash equilibria, local stability, and numerical solutions. Using the bifurcation diagram, the phase portrait, time series, and the 0-1 test for chaos, we numerically validate these results and illustrate (...)

    DLI: A Deep Learning-Based Granger Causality Inference.Wei Peng - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-6.
Integrating autoencoder, long short-term memory, and convolutional neural network, we propose an interpretable deep learning architecture for Granger causality inference, named deep learning-based Granger causality inference. Two contributions of the proposed DLI are to reveal the Granger causality between the bitcoin price and S&P index and to forecast the bitcoin price and S&P index with a higher accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate that there is a bidirectional but asymmetric Granger causality between the bitcoin price and S&P index. And the DLI performs (...)

The Impact of Human Health Co-Benefits on Evaluations of Global Climate Policy.Noah Scovronick, Mark Budolfson, Francis Dennig, Frank Errickson, Marc Fleurbaey, Wei Peng, Robert H. Socolow, Dean Spears & Fabian Wagner - 2019 - Nature Communications 2095 (19).
The health co-benefits of CO2 mitigation can provide a strong incentive for climate policy through reductions in air pollutant emissions that occur when targeting shared sources. However, reducing air pollutant emissions may also have an important co-harm, as the aerosols they form produce net cooling overall. Nevertheless, aerosol impacts have not been fully incorporated into cost-benefit modeling that estimates how much the world should optimally mitigate. Here we find that when both co-benefits and co-harms are taken fully into account, optimal (...)

Functional Network Alterations as Markers for Predicting the Treatment Outcome of Cathodal Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation in Focal Epilepsy.Jiaxin Hao, Wenyi Luo, Yuhai Xie, Yu Feng, Wei Sun, Weifeng Peng, Jun Zhao, Puming Zhang, Jing Ding & Xin Wang - 2021 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 15.
Background and PurposeTranscranial direct current stimulation is an emerging non-invasive neuromodulation technique for focal epilepsy. Because epilepsy is a disease affecting the brain network, our study was aimed to evaluate and predict the treatment outcome of cathodal tDCS by analyzing the ctDCS-induced functional network alterations.MethodsEither the active 5-day, −1.0 mA, 20-min ctDCS or sham ctDCS targeting at the most active interictal epileptiform discharge regions was applied to 27 subjects suffering from focal epilepsy. The functional networks before and after ctDCS were (...)

Carbon Tax, Subsidy, and Emission Reduction: Analysis Based on DSGE Model.Haoran Li & Wei Peng - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-10.
Carbon emission has negative externalities, which will cause severe natural and social problems. In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to carbon emission reduction issue both in academic and application fields. This paper aims to explore the impact of punitive carbon tax and incentive carbon emission reduction subsidy on economy and environment through the dynamic stochastic general equilibrium framework. The results show that both carbon tax and carbon emission reduction subsidy policies can help to reduce carbon emissions (...)

Two Kinds of Fixed Point Theorems and Reverse Mathematics.Weiguang Peng & Takeshi Yamazaki - 2017 - Mathematical Logic Quarterly 63 (5):454-461.
In this paper, we investigate the logical strength of two types of fixed point theorems in the context of reverse mathematics. One is concerned with extensions of the Banach contraction principle. Among theorems in this type, we mainly show that the Caristi fixed point theorem is equivalent to math formula over math formula. The other is dedicated to topological fixed point theorems such as the Brouwer fixed point theorem. We introduce some variants of the Fan-Browder fixed point theorem and the (...)

  9. The Measurement of Chinese Sentence Semantic Complexity.Shuqin Zhu, Jihua Song, Weiming Peng, Dongdong Guo & Jingbo Sun - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-10.
The complexity of language is usually reflected in the complexity of sentences. At present, the research of sentence complexity mainly focuses on the analysis of syntactic complexity. In this paper, from the perspective of Leech's theory of sentence semantic structure, the predication structure is taken as the semantic unit to explore the sentence semantic complexity. The predication structures are extracted based on the result of sentence-based syntactic analysis, and then the linear expression sequence of a sentence is converted into a (...)
