Extinction and Persistence in Mean of a Novel Delay Impulsive Stochastic Infected Predator-Prey System with Jumps.Guodong Liu, Xiaohong Wang, Xinzhu Meng & Shujing Gao - 2017 - Complexity 2017:1-15.
In this paper, we explore an impulsive stochastic infected predator-prey system with Lévy jumps and delays. The main aim of this paper is to investigate the effects of time delays and impulse stochastic interference on dynamics of the predator-prey model. First, we prove some properties of the subsystem of the system. Second, in view of comparison theorem and limit superior theory, we obtain the sufficient conditions for the extinction of this system. Furthermore, persistence in mean of the system is also (...)

Pore Types, Pore-Network Analysis, and Pore Quantification of the Lacustrine Shale-Hydrocarbon System in the Late Triassic Yanchang Formation in the Southeastern Ordos Basin, China.Robert G. Loucks, Stephen C. Ruppel, Xiangzeng Wang, Lucy Ko, Sheng Peng, Tongwei Zhang, Harry D. Rowe & Patrick Smith - 2017 - Interpretation: SEG 5 (2):SF63-SF79.
Continental Upper Triassic Yanchang “black shales” in the southeastern Ordos Basin have been proven to be unconventional gas reservoirs. Organic-matter-lean and organic-matter-rich argillaceous mudstones form reservoirs that were deposited in a deeper water lacustrine setting during lake highstands. In the stratified lake, the bottom waters were dysaerobic to anoxic. This low-energy and low-oxygen lake-bottom setting allowed types II and III organic matter to accumulate. Interbedded with the argillaceous mudstones are argillaceous arkosic siltstones deposited by gravity-flow processes. Rock samples from the (...)

Strategies in Forecasting Outcomes in Ethical Decision-Making: Identifying and Analyzing the Causes of the Problem.Michael D. Mumford, Chase E. Thiel, Jared J. Caughron, Xiaoqian Wang, Alison L. Antes & Cheryl K. Stenmark - 2010 - Ethics and Behavior 20 (2):110-127.
This study examined the role of key causal analysis strategies in forecasting and ethical decision-making. Undergraduate participants took on the role of the key actor in several ethical problems and were asked to identify and analyze the causes, forecast potential outcomes, and make a decision about each problem. Time pressure and analytic mindset were manipulated while participants worked through these problems. The results indicated that forecast quality was associated with decision ethicality, and the identification of the critical causes of the (...)

Chemostratigraphic Insights Into Fluvio-Lacustrine Deposition, Yanchang Formation, Upper Triassic, Ordos Basin, China.Harry Rowe, Xiangzeng Wang, Bojiang Fan, Tongwei Zhang, Stephen C. Ruppel, Kitty L. Milliken, Robert Loucks, Ying Shen, Jianfeng Zhang, Quansheng Liang & Evan Sivil - 2017 - Interpretation: SEG 5 (2):SF149-SF165.
A chemostratigraphic study of a 300 m long core recovered from the southeastern central Ordos depocenter reveals thick intervals of fine-grained, organic-rich lacustrine strata, interpreted to represent deepwater deposition under meromictic conditions during lake highstand phases, interspersed with thick intervals of arkosic sandstones, reflective of fluvio-deltaic deposition during lake lowstand phases. Along with elevated concentrations of %Al, traditionally a proxy for clay content, maximum total-organic-carbon values in the deepwater lacustrine facies reach 8%, with average values of approximately 3%. The fine-grained, (...)

Forty-six core samples were collected from a deep well that penetrated organic-rich layers of the Chang 7, 8, and 9 members of the Yanchang Formation in the Ordos Basin. Tests for total organic content, Rock-Eval pyrolysis, X-ray diffraction mineralogy, and molecular composition of gases released from rock crushing were conducted. Analytical results indicate that TOC and clay contents are elevated. The organic matter -rich mudstone in the Triassic Yanchang Fm suggests good-to-excellent source potential for oil generation. Its thermal maturity is (...)

Hydrocarbon Storage Space Within Lacustrine Gas Shale of the Triassic Yanchang Formation, Ordos Basin, China.Xiangzeng Wang, Lixia Zhang, Chengfu Jiang & Bojiang Fan - 2015 - Interpretation: SEG 3 (2):SJ15-SJ23.
The Triassic Yanchang Formation lacustrine shale is a source of conventional oil accumulation in the Ordos Basin, China. The Yanchang Formation, a hybrid system of organic-rich shale, interbedded silty shale, and siltstone, is believed to be a potential unconventional oil and gas play. Our crossdisciplinary investigation of the storage space included the outcrop description, core observation, thin sections, and scanning electron microscope pore imaging. We evaluated the results from these techniques to reveal that the storage space within the Yanchang Formation (...)

Multiparty Evolutionary Game Model in Coal Mine Safety Management and Its Application.Rongwu Lu, Xinhua Wang, Hao Yu & Dan Li - 2018 - Complexity 2018:1-10.
Coal mine safety management involves many interested parties and there are complex relationships between them. According to game theory, a multiparty evolutionary game model is established to analyze the selection of strategies. Then, a simplified three-party model is taken as an example to carry out detailed analysis and solution. Based on stability theory of dynamics system and phase diagram analysis, this article studies replicator dynamics of the evolutionary model to make an optimization analysis of the behaviors of those interested parties (...)

Seismic Time-Frequency Decomposition by Using a Hybrid Basis-Matching Pursuit Technique.Xingjian Wang, Bo Zhang, Fangyu Li, Jie Qi & Bo Bai - 2016 - Interpretation: SEG 4 (2):T239-T248.
Analyzing the time-frequency features of seismic traces plays an important role in seismic stratigraphy analysis and hydrocarbon detection. The current popular time-spectrum analysis methods include short-time Fourier transform, continuous wavelet transform, S-transform, and matching pursuit, among which MP is the most tolerant of the window/scalar effect. However, current MP algorithms do not consider the interfering effects of seismic events on the estimation of optimal wavelets in each decomposition iteration. The interfered reflection seismic events may result in inaccurate estimation of optimal (...)

China has a longstanding tradition of stressing the values of harmony and coherence, and Chinese society has often been portrayed as a culture in which conflict avoidance is viewed more positively than direct confrontation and argumentation. In order to evaluate the validity of this claim, this paper sketches Chinese people’s feelings and understandings about interpersonal arguing by reporting results of a data collection in China, using measures of argumentativeness, verbal aggressiveness, argument frames, and personalization of conflict. These results were compared (...)

The current study uses a sensemaking model and thinking strategies identified in earlier research to examine ethical decision making. Using a sample of 163 undergraduates, a low-fidelity simulation approach is used to study the effects personal involvement (in causing the problem and personal involvement in experiencing the outcomes of the problem) could have on the use of cognitive reasoning strategies that have been shown to promote ethical decision making. A mediated model is presented which suggests that environmental factors influence reasoning (...)

Comparative philosophy between two disparate cultural-philosophic traditions, such as Western and Chinese philosophy, has become a new trend of philosophical fashion in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. Having learned from the past, contemporary comparative philosophers cautiously safeguard their comparative studies against two potential pitfalls, namely cultural universalism and cultural relativism. The Orientalism that assumed the superiority of the Occidental has become a memory of the past. The historical pendulum has apparently swung to the other extreme. The more recent (...)

Adolescent Sports Behavior and Social Networks: The Role of Social Efficacy and Self-Presentation in Sports Behavior.Lei Lei, Huifang Zhang & Xin Wang - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-10.
Social networks are a complex system that members communicate, create new connections or destroy existing connections, and further deliver major impacts on each member’s life. Given the spread of the Internet and increased academic pressure, sedentary and prescreen behaviors are very common among adolescents; meanwhile, sports behaviors are gradually decreasing. This situation has had an adverse effect on health. This paper used a questionnaire survey to investigate the influence of social networks on adolescent sports behavior, including the intermediary role of (...)

Kuhn's alleged taxonomic interpretation of incommensurability is grounded on an ill defined notion of untranslatability and is hence radically incomplete. To supplement it, I reconstruct Kuhn's taxonomic interpretation on the basis of a logical-semantic theory of taxonomy, a semantic theory of truth-value, and a truth-value conditional theory of cross-language communication. According to the reconstruction, two scientific languages are incommensurable when core sentences of one language, which have truth values when considered within its own context, lack truth values when considered within (...)

Recent studies lead to the paradoxical conclusion that the act of affirming one's egalitarian or prosocial values and virtues might subsequently facilitate prejudiced or self-serving behavior, an effect previously referred to as ?moral credentialing.? The present study extends this paradox to the domain of academic misconduct and investigates the hypothesis that such an effect might be limited by the extent to which misbehavior is rationalizable. The power load prediction is significant in a sustainable power system, which is the key to the energy system’s economic operation. An accurate prediction of the power load can provide a reliable decision for power system planning. However, it is challenging to predict the power load with a single model, especially for multistep prediction, because the time series load data have multiple periods. This paper presents a deep hybrid model with a serial two‐level decomposition structure. First, the power load data (...)

Despite Donald Davidson's influential criticism of the very notion of conceptual schemes, the notion continues enjoying its popularity in contemporary philosophy and, accordingly, conceptual relativism is still very much alive. There is one major reason responsible for Davidson's failure which has not been widely recognized: What Davidson attacks fiercely is not the very notion, but a notion of conceptual schemes, namely, the Quinean notion of conceptual schemes and its underlying Kantian scheme-content dualism. However, such a notion simply cannot carry the (...)
