ObjectiveTo investigate the attitudes of Chinese parents regarding the storage of dried blood spots collected for newborn screening (NBS) and their use in research.MethodsWe conducted a hospital-based survey of parents and examined parental attitudes regarding (a) allowing NBS sample storage, (b) permitting use of children’s NBS samples for research with parental permission, and (c) permitting use of children’s NBS samples for research without parental permission.ResultsThe response rate was 52 percent. Of parents surveyed, 68 percent would permit their infant’s NBS sample (...) to be stored for at least some length of time. If permission is obtained, 69 percent of parents “strongly agreed” or “agreed” to permit use of the NBS sample for research. If permission is not obtained, only 14 percent of parents “strongly agreed” or “agreed.” There was no significant association between permitting use of NBS samples for research and parental gender, education, household income, number of children, or site of residence.ConclusionsThis is the first survey of Chinese parents regarding the use of NBS samples for different types of research, with results indicating that most parents would permit their infant’s sample to be stored and would support the use of NBS dried blood spots for research purposes. With the rapid development of sensor technology for automated driving applications, the fusion, analysis, and application of multimodal data have become the main focus of different scenarios, especially in the development of mobile edge computing technology that provides more efficient algorithms for realizing the various application scenarios. In the present paper, the vehicle status and operation data were acquired by vehicle-borne and roadside units of electronic registration identification of motor vehicles. In addition, a motion model and an identification system for (...) the single-vehicle lane-change process were established by mobile edge computing and self-organizing feature mapping. Two scenarios were modeled and tested: lane change with no vehicles in the target lane and lane change with vehicles in the target lane. It was found that the proposed method successfully identified the stochastic parameters in the process of driving trajectory simulation, and the standard deviation between simulation and the measured results obeyed a normal distribution. The proposed methods can provide significant practical information for improving the data processing efficiency in automated driving applications, for solving single-vehicle lane-change applications, and for promoting the formation of a closed loop from sensing to service. The question of what determines brain laterality for auditory cognitive processing is unresolved. Here, we demonstrate a swap of hemisphere dominance from right to left during semantic interpretation of Chinese lexical tones in native speakers using simultaneously recorded mismatch negativity response and behavioral reaction time during dichotic listening judgment. The mismatch negativity, which is a brain wave response and indexes auditory processing at an early stage, indicated right hemisphere dominance. In contrast, the behavioral reaction time, which reflects auditory processing at (...) a later stage, indicated a right ear listening advantage, or left hemisphere dominance. The observed swap of hemisphere dominance would not occur when the lexical tone was substituted with a meaningless pure tone. This swap reveals dependence of hemisphere labor division initially on acoustic and then on functional cues of auditory inputs in the processing from sound to meaning. (shrink)
Adopting fair value measurement may bring more earnings fluctuations and induce irrational psychology and radical financing behavior of managers. Based on behavioral corporate governance theory, using the sample of Chinese A-share nonfinancial listed companies during 2007–2017, this paper empirically examines the regulatory effect of fair value measurement, that is, whether fair value measurement affects the company's financing decisions when managers have irrational psychological characteristics, i.e., overconfidence. The study found that overconfident managers of the company that have fair value measurement assets (...) will be more aggressive for debt decisions, indicating that fair value measurement has a positively regulatory effect on overconfident managers. Anxious major depressive disorder is a common subtype of major depressive disorder; however, its unique neural mechanism is not well-understood currently. Using multimodal MRI data, this study examined common and specific alterations of amygdala subregions between patients with and without anxiety. No alterations were observed in the gray matter volume or intra-region functional integration in either patient group. Compared with the controls, both patient groups showed decreased functional connectivity between the left superficial amygdala and the left putamen, and between the (...) right superficial amygdala and the bilateral anterior cingulate cortex and medial orbitofrontal cortex, while only patients with anxiety exhibited decreased activity in the bilateral laterobasal and superficial amygdala. Moreover, the decreased activity correlated negatively with the Hamilton depression scale scores in the patients with anxiety. These findings provided insights into the pathophysiologic processes of anxious major depressive disorder and may help to develop new and effective treatment programs. (shrink)
Human gait phase recognition is a significant technology for rehabilitation training robot, human disease diagnosis, artificial prosthesis, and so on. The efficient design of the recognition method for gait information is the key issue in the current gait phase division and eigenvalues extraction research. In this paper, a novel voting-weighted integrated neural network is proposed to detect different gait phases from multidimensional acceleration signals. More specifically, it first employs a gait information acquisition system to collect different IMU sensors data fixed (...) on the human lower limb. Then, with dimensionality reduction and four-phase division preprocessing, key features are selected and merged as unified vectors to learn common and domain knowledge in time domain. Next, multiple refined DNNs are transferred to design a multistream integrated neural network, which utilizes the mixture-granularity information to exploit high-dimensional feature representative. Finally, a voting-weighted function is developed to fuse different submodels as a unified representation for distinguishing small discrepancy among different gait phases. The end-to-end implementation of the VWI-DNN model is fine-tuned by the loss optimization of gradient back-propagation. Experimental results demonstrate the outperforming performance of the proposed method with higher classification accuracy compared with the other methods, of which classification accuracy and macro-F1 is up to 99.5%. More discussions are provided to indicate the potential applications in combination with other works. (shrink)
In the development of technology for smart cities, the installation and deployment of electronic motor vehicle registration identification have attracted great attention in terms of smart transportation in recent years. Vehicle velocity measurement is one of the fundamental data collection efforts for motor vehicles. The velocity detection using electronic registration identification of motor vehicles is constrained by the detection algorithm, the material of the automobile windshield, the placement of the decals, the installation method of the signal reader, and the angle (...) of the antenna. The software and hardware for electronic motor vehicle registration identification produced in the standard manner cannot meet the accuracy of velocity detection for all scenarios. Based on the actual application requirements, we propose a calibration method for the numerical output of the automobile velocity detector based on edge computing of the optimized multiple reader/writer velocity values and based on a particle swarm-optimized radial basis function neural network. The proposed method was tested on a two-way eight-lane road, and the test results showed that it can effectively improve the accuracy of velocity detection using electronic registration identification of motor vehicles. Compared with the actual velocity, 87.12% of all the data samples had an error less than 5%, and 91.76% of the data samples for vehicles in the center lane had an error less than 5%. By calibrating the electronic vehicle velocity based on the registration identification, the accuracy of velocity detection in different application environments can be improved. Moreover, the method can establish an accurate foundation for application in traffic flow management, environmental protection, traffic congestion fee collection, and special vehicle traffic management. This paper studies the multiconsensus problem of multiagent networks based on sampled data information via the pulse-modulated intermittent control which is a general control framework unifying impulsive control, intermittent control, and sampling control. Two kinds of multiconsensus, including stationary multiconsensus and dynamic multiconsensus of multiagent networks, are taken into consideration in such control framework. Based on the eigenvalue analysis and algebraic graph theory, some necessary and sufficient conditions on the feedback gains and the control period are established to ensure the (...) multiconsensus. The finite-time asynchronous stabilization problem has received great attention because of the wide application of actual engineering. In this paper, we consider the problem of finite-time asynchronous stabilization for nonlinear hidden Markov jump systems with linear parameter varying. Compared with the existing research results on Markov jump systems, this paper considers the HMJSs which contain both the hidden state and the observed state in continuous-time case. Moreover, we consider the parameters of the systems are time varying. The aim of the (...) paper is to design a proper observation-mode-based asynchronous controller such that the closed-loop HMJSs with linear parameter varying be stochastically finite-time bounded with H ∞ performance. Then, we give some sufficient conditions to solve the SFTB- H ∞ asynchronous controller by considering the stochastic Lyapunov–Krasovskii functional methods. Filtering based state of charge estimation with an equivalent circuit model is commonly extended to Lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicle or similar energy storage applications. During the last several decades, different implementations of online parameter identification such as Kalman filters have been presented in literature. However, if the system is a moving EV during rapid acceleration or regenerative braking or when using heating or air conditioning, most of the existing works suffer from poor prediction of state and state estimation error (...) covariance, leading to the problem of accuracy degeneracy of the algorithm. On this account, this paper presents a particle filter-based hybrid filtering method particularly for SOC estimation of Li-ion cells in EVs. A sampling importance resampling particle filter is used in combination with a standard Kalman filter and an unscented Kalman filter as a proposal distribution for the particle filter to be made much faster and more accurate. Test results show that the error on the state estimate is less than 0.8% despite additive current measurement noise with 0.05 A deviation. (shrink)
Customized bus services are conducive to improving urban traffic and environment, and have attracted widespread attention. However, the problems encountered in the new customized bus mode include the large difference between the basis of customized bus passenger flow data analysis and the basis of the traditional bus passenger flow data analysis, and the difficulty in different vehicle scheduling caused by the combination of traditional and customized bus modes. We propose a customized bus passenger flow analysis algorithm and multi-destination customized bus (...) line capacity scheduling algorithm, and display them in an intuitive way. The experimental results show that the algorithm model established in this paper can basically meet the data requirements of operation and management, and can provide decision support for customized bus line planning. Based on the event study method, this paper conducts the analysis on the short-term performance of 1302 major mergers and acquisitions in China from 2006 to 2019 and takes the cumulative abnormal return as the measurement index. After comparing the five abnormal return calculation models, it is found that the commonly used market model method and the market adjustment method have statistical defects while the Elman feedback neural network model is capable of good nonlinear prediction ability. The study shows that (...) M&A can create considerable short-term performance for Chinese listed company shareholders. The CAR in window period reached 14.45% with a downward trend, which is the win-win result achieved through the cooperation between multiple parties and individuals driven by their respective rights and interests in the current macro-microeconomic environment in China. Time-varying formation-containment problems for a second-order multiagent system are studied via pulse-modulated intermittent control in this paper. A distributed control framework utilizing the neighbors’ positions and velocities is designed so that leaders in the multiagent system form a formation, and followers move to the convex hull formed by each leader. Different from the traditional formation-containment problems, this paper applies the PMIC framework, which is more common and more in line with the actual control scenarios. Based on the knowledge of matrix (...) theory, algebraic graph theory, and stability theory, some sufficient conditions are given for the time-varying formation-containment problem of the second-order multiagent system. We have refined entropy theory to explore the meaning of the increasing sequence data on nucleic acids and proteins more conveniently. The concept of selection constraint was not introduced, only the analyzed sequences themselves were considered. The refined theory serves as a basis for deriving a method to analyze non-coding regions (NCRs) as well as coding regions. Positions with maximal entropy might play the most important role in genome functions as opposed to positions with minimal entropy. This method was tested (...) in the well-characterized coding regions of 12 strains of Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV) and non-coding regions of 20 strains of CSFV. It is suitable to analyze nucleic acid sequences of a complete genome and to detect sensitive positions for mutagenesis. An ultradeep, faulted karst reservoir of Ordovician carbonate was discovered in the Shunbei area of the Tarim Basin. Fractured-cavity reservoirs buried beneath the large thickness of upper Ordovician mudstone were formed along the fault-karst belts. The hydrocarbon accumulation in these reservoirs is controlled by the fault system, and the oil-gas accumulation was affected by karstification and hydrothermal reformation. Previous studies and 2D modeling revealed that the reservoirs had “bright spot” amplitude responses like “string beads,” and they have developed along the (...) strike-slip faults. However, describing such a complex fault-controlled karst system is still a difficult problem that has not been well addressed. We have sought to instruct the attribute expression of faulted karst reservoirs in the northern part of the Tarim Basin. We applied coherence and fault likelihood seismic attributes to image faults and fractures zones. We then used a trend analysis method to calculate the residual impedance from the impedance of the acoustic inversion, using the fact that residual impedance has higher lateral resolution in reservoir predictions. Finally, we integrated the coherence, FL, and residual impedance attributes into a new seismic attribute, the “fault-vuggy body,” with a certain fusion coefficient. The fault-vuggy body attribute establishes a connection between faults and karst cavities. This method could help in the characterization and prediction of carbonate faulted karst reservoirs. Available drilling data were used to validate that the fused fault-vuggy body attribute was an effective reservoir prediction method. As the seismic sections and slices along the layer help delineate, the distribution of bright spots and strike-slip faults indicates that the main strike-slip fault zones are the most favorable reservoirs in the Shunbei Oil and Gas Field. This question is rethought through a rereading of three major Western philosophers, Hegel, Husserl, and Heidegger, and a Chinese philosopher, Feng Youlan. Philosophy is seen, on the one hand, to dialecticize its other but necessarily to fall short of its aim and, on the other, to claim for itself (...) uniqueness and originality but necessarily to be constituted by and through an other. Dissolved oxygen sensor is the key of dissolved oxygen measurement and it is usually implemented by electrochemical method, which measures dissolved oxygen content by the diffusion rate of molecular oxygen through film. However, the film on the electrochemical sensor probe is most likely to be blocked up by the waterborne contaminant, which may reduce the service life of the sensor and the indirect influence on the sensor’s current. This is caused by changes of water temperature, which may lead to the (...) decline in the accuracy of the sensor’s output. This paper suggests a new method to implement the intelligent dissolved oxygen sensor. Our method mainly aims at ultrasonic automatic cleaning, automatic adjustment, and adaptation for the changes of temperature, which can not only regularly clean the dissolved oxygen sensor probe but also automatically calibrate the instruments based on the changes of temperature by combining software and hardware. The experiments show that the ultrasonic cleaning technology can not only increase the service life of the sensor by cleaning the film on the probe safely and effectively but also improve the accuracy of the sensor’s output. Our method also has the advantages of simple structure, high accuracy of measurement, long service life, convenience, and stability, which is suitable for application and popularization. (shrink)
This paper proposes a consistency check method for hesitant fuzzy sets with confidence levels by employing a distance measure. Firstly, we analyze the difference between each fuzzy element and its corresponding attribute comprehensive decision value and then obtain a comprehensive distance measure for each attribute. Subsequently, by taking the relative credibility as the weight, we assess the consistency of hesitant fuzzy sets. Finally, numerical examples are put forward to verify the effectiveness and reliability of the proposed method.
ObjectivesThis study aims to systematically analyze the effects of mind–body exercises on post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms, depression, and anxiety in patients with PTSD. Furthermore, it intends to provide scientific evidence-based exercise prescriptions.MethodsChinese and English databases were used as data sources to search for studies on the effects of mind–body exercises on symptoms associated with patients with PTSD from January 1980 to November 2020. After a rigorous screening, 16 eligible randomized controlled trials were included in the meta-analysis.ResultsMind–body exercises exerted a significant (...) effect on PTSD symptoms [standard mean difference = −0.41, 95% confidence interval −0.64 to −0.19, p < 0.001], depression, and anxiety among patients with PTSD. Subgroup analysis demonstrated that 60–150 min per session for 8–16 weeks of mindfulness was more effective in improving symptoms in patients with PTSD under 45 years of age compared with other subgroups. For depression, 150–180 min of yoga exercises once per week was effective. For anxiety, the frequency, timing, duration, and type of mind–body exercises that are most effective in relieving anxiety in patients with PTSD cannot be determined at this time due to the limited number of eligible RCTs.ConclusionsMind–body exercises were found to be significantly effective in improving PTSD symptoms, depression, and anxiety in patients with PTSD. Therefore, they can be used as an adjunct to intervention for symptoms of patients with PTSD. In cased-hole acoustic logging, estimating the formation velocity is often problematic when the casing is poorly bonded with the formation. The overwhelmingly large casing waves dominate the measured waveforms and overlap with the low-coherence, weak formation arrival, contributing to the failure of conventional semblance processing method. To tackle this problem, we have developed a filtered frequency semblance array waveform signal processing technique. The multiple filter technique is first used to filter the measured waveforms. We then apply the [Formula: see text]th (...) root stacking method to the filtered signals. Consequently, the coherence of the formation signal on the obtained 3D semblance correlogram is significantly enhanced and clearly separated with the casing waves. We have applied the method to process synthetic and field cased-hole acoustic waveform data. Our results indicate that the new method significantly enhances the coherence of the desired formation signal and simultaneously estimates the formation of the P- and S-wave velocity. (shrink)
This article examines past and present moral education practices in Chinese families. It begins with a brief overview of Confucian thought on moral education and its lasting influence on Chinese moral ethos. It then identifies the types of moral values emphasised by Chinese parents, as well as the kinds of moral education literature they use for teaching. It proceeds to analyse the methods employed by Chinese parents to instil moral values in everyday contexts. Using evidence from research and recent news (...) reports on Chinese moral conduct, the author argues that the moral socialisation practices in Chinese families may be problematic, despite their best intentions. The article concludes by suggesting alternative family moral education approaches for future consideration. (shrink)
