    Third-Party Certification, Sponsorship, and Consumers’ Ecolabel Use.Nicole Darnall, Hyunjung Ji & Diego A. Vázquez-Brust - 2018 - Journal of Business Ethics 150 (4):953-969.
While prior ecolabel research suggests that consumers’ trust of ecolabel sponsors is associated with their purchase of ecolabeled products, we know little about how third-party certification might relate to consumer purchases when trust varies. Drawing on cognitive theory and a stratified random sample of more than 1200 consumers, we assess how third-party certification relates to consumers’ use of ecolabels across different program sponsors. We find that consumers’ trust of government and environmental NGOs to provide credible environmental information encourages consumers’ use (...)

    English and Chinese Children’s Motion Event Similarity Judgments.Yinglin Ji & Jill Hohenstein - 2018 - Cognitive Linguistics 29 (1):45-76.
This study explores the relationship between language and thought in similarity judgments by testing how monolingual children who speak languages with partial typological differences in motion description respond to visual motion event stimuli. Participants were either Chinese- or English-speaking, 3-year-olds, 8-year-olds and adults who judged the similarity between caused motion scenes in a match-to-sample task. The results suggest, first of all, that the two younger groups of 3-year-olds are predominantly path-oriented, irrespective of language, as evidenced by their significantly longer fixation (...)

The Foot-mounted Inertial Pedestrian-Positioning System based on the Micro-Inertial Measurement Unit is a good choice for the forest fire fighters when the Global Navigation Satellite System is unavailable. Zero Velocity Update provides a solution for reducing cumulative positioning errors caused by the integral calculation of the inertial navigation. However, the performance of ZUPT is highly affected by the low accuracy and high noise of the MIMU. The accuracy of conventional ZUPT for attitude alignment is reduced by the zero offset of (...)

A Worldwide Examination of Exchange Market Quality: Greater Integrity Increases Market Efficiency.Michael J. Aitken, Frederick H. de B. Harris & Shan Ji - 2015 - Journal of Business Ethics 132 (1):147-170.
We develop a framework for assessing security market quality, relating five elements of market design to three metrics of market integrity and two metrics of market efficiency. We empirically implement this integrity–efficiency MQ framework by testing a hypothesis that trade-based ramping manipulation at the close raises execution costs on 24 security markets worldwide. Estimating a simultaneous equations model of ramping incidence, spreads, and the probability of deploying real-time surveillance, we show that quoted bid-ask spreads are positively related to the incidence (...)

Weight Lifting Trajectory Optimization for Variable Stiffness Actuated Robot.Chen Ji, Minxiu Kong & Ruifeng Li - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-12.
Variable stiffness actuator is a new actuation of robot which is inspired by motor control of human arm. And it is promising way to exploit the human-like performance and human-like motion. However, due to the mechanical complexity and redundancy of the actuators, it is not trivial to control the variable stiffness actuated robot to perform a human-like motion. In this paper, the weight lifting problem with variable stiffness actuated robot is studied. Then, the original problem is formulated as a constrained (...)

Everyday-Life Business Deviance Among Chinese SME Owners.Junzhe Ji, Pavlos Dimitratos, Qingan Huang & Taoyong Su - 2019 - Journal of Business Ethics 155 (4):1179-1194.
Despite its prevalence in emerging economies, everyday-life business deviance and its antecedents have received surprisingly little research attention. Drawing on strain theory and the business-ethics literature, we develop a socio-psychological explanation for this deviance. Our analysis of 741 owners of Chinese small- and medium-sized enterprises suggests that materialism and trust in institutional justice affect EBD both directly and indirectly in a relationship mediated by the ethical standards of SME owners. These findings have important implications for researching deviant business behavior within (...)

    National Survey of Client's Perceptions of Chinese Psychotherapist Practices.Jing-Bo Zhao, Jian-Lin Ji, Fang Tang, Qing-Yun Du, Xue-Ling Yang, Zhen-Zhi Yang, Yan-Fei Hou & Xiao-Yuan Zhang - 2012 - Ethics and Behavior 22 (5):362 - 377.
The present study is a cross-sectional survey that investigates ethical practices among Chinese psychotherapists from the perspective of a large representative sample of Chinese clients (N?=?1,100). In reports from clients, we found that psychotherapists did poorly in providing informed consent and had other ethical difficulties in the therapeutic setting and with dual relationships. We conclude that Chinese culture, especially Confucianism, had significant impact on the attitudes toward the psychotherapists' ethical practices, which complicated ethical dilemmas. It is important for cross-cultural psychotherapists (...)

The study of political thought has progressed to the study of philosophical thought; the study of the philosophical thought in certain of his representative writings has progressed to the study of his philosophical thought in the entire historical period; and the study of the philosophical thought of Mao Zedong the individual (...)

Early Cretaceous Redbeds From the Minle Basin, Hexi Corridor, Northwest China: Mineralogy and Geochemistry Implications for Paleoweathering, Provenance, and Tectonic Settings.Yaxiong Sun, Wenlong Ding, Yang Gu, Gang Zhao, Siyu Shi, Baocheng Jiao & Xiang Ji - 2019 - Interpretation 7 (2):T525-T545.
Redbeds with a large thickness in the lower Cretaceous record abundant geologic information in the Minle Basin. We have conducted the paleoweathering conditions, provenance, and tectonic settings based on mineralogy and geochemistry. Our results indicate that mudstone samples are characterized by abundant illite with negligible amounts of K-feldspars and analcime. The lower part of the lower Cretaceous is rich in quartz, whereas the upper part is dominated by dolomite and analcime. We suggest that this is caused by the decreasing input (...)

A Differential Evolution-Oriented Pruning Neural Network Model for Bankruptcy Prediction.Yajiao Tang, Junkai Ji, Yulin Zhu, Shangce Gao, Zheng Tang & Yuki Todo - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-21.
Financial bankruptcy prediction is crucial for financial institutions in assessing the financial health of companies and individuals. Such work is necessary for financial institutions to establish effective prediction models to make appropriate lending decisions. In recent decades, various bankruptcy prediction models have been developed for academics and practitioners to predict the likelihood that a loan customer will go bankrupt. Among them, Artificial Neural Networks have been widely and effectively applied in bankruptcy prediction. Inspired by the mechanism of biological neurons, we (...)

Fluid Saturation Evolution with Imbibition in Unconventional Natural Gas Reservoirs.Mianmo Meng, Hongkui Ge, Yinghao Shen, Wenming Ji & Fei Ren - 2018 - Interpretation 6 (4):T849-T859.
Hydraulic fracturing plays an important role in developing unconventional natural gas. The large amount of fracturing fluid retention becomes a significant phenomenon in gas fields. Much research has been carried out to explain this mechanism. Imbibition is regarded as one of the important factors and has been investigated extensively. However, the saturation evolution of different types of fluids has been less researched during imbibition. A porosity experiment combined with an imbibition experiment was conducted to research the fluids-saturation evolution. There are (...)
