Understanding the Joint Impacts of Cognitive, Social, and Geographic Proximities on the Performance of Innovation Collaboration Between Knowledge-Intensive Business Services and the Manufacturing Industry: Empirical Evidence From China.Ting Zhao, Meng Yang, Zhijuan Cao & Xiang Wang - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
Most previous empirical studies just addressed the influence of geographical proximity on interactive learning regarding the collaboration between knowledge-intensive business service and manufacturing industries. Drawing upon the social cognitive and knowledge-based perspective, this study bridged the research gaps by investigating the joint effects of geographical proximity and two representative non-geographic-proximities in fostering manufacturing firms’ innovation performance. In terms of the empirical analysis, we applied a research sample that involves the data of various manufacturing industries in 260 cities of China from (...)

Yang Zhu Research in the Twentieth Century: With a Focus on Guo Moruo, Meng Wentong, Hou Wailu, and Liu Zehua.Feng Cao - 2019 - Contemporary Chinese Thought 50 (3-4):144-163.
Cao Feng describes two types of twentieth-century Yang Zhu-related scholarship. “Academic history” is represented by Meng Wentong and Guo Moruo; it focused on textual analysis and largely expanded the network of lineages related to Yang Zhu, reaching into Huang-Lao scholarship. “Intellectual history” since 1949 is represented by Hou Wailu and Liu Zehua. It portrays Yang Zhu’s thought system in terms of Marxist and post-Marxist ideology, respectively. Cao warns against the ideological coloring of the latter type and (...)

Marriage, Health, and Old-Age Support: Risk to Rural Involuntary Bachelors’ Family Development in Contemporary China.Yang Meng, Bo Yang, Shuzhuo Li & Marcus W. Feldman - 2021 - Asian Bioethics Review 13 (1):77-89.
In the traditional system of Chinese families, individuals are embedded in the institution of the family with defined obligations to enhance family development. As a consequence of the male-biased sex ratio at birth in China since the 1980s, an increasing number of surplus rural males have been affected by a marriage squeeze becoming involuntary bachelors. Under China’s universal heterosexual marriage tradition, family development of rural involuntary bachelors has largely been ignored, but in China’s gender-imbalanced society, it is necessary to adopt (...)

Development and Validation of Ethical Computer Self-Efficacy Measure: The Case of Softlifting. [REVIEW]Feng-Yang Kuo & Meng-Hsiang Hsu - 2001 - Journal of Business Ethics 32 (4):299 - 315.
The concept of self-efficacy is concerned with people''s beliefs in their ability to produce given attainment. It has been widely applied to study human conduct in various settings. This study, based on Albert Bandura''s social cognitive theory, proposes the employment of self-efficacy for investigating people''s ethical conduct related to computer use. Specifically, an ethical computer self-efficacy (ECSE) construct concerning software piracy is developed and validated. The measurement model of the construct was rigorously tested and validated through confirmatory factor analysis. The (...)

    The Effect of Organization-Based Self-Esteem and Deindividuation in Protecting Personal Information Privacy.Meng-Hsiang Hsu & Feng-Yang Kuo - 2003 - Journal of Business Ethics 42 (4):305 - 320.
In this research we apply the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to study decisions related to information privacy protection. A TPB-based model was proposed to investigate whether organization-based self-esteem and perceived deindividuation can be employed to measure the strength of the perceived behavioral control construct. In addition, we examined if the addition of a causal path linking subjective norms to attitudes and another causal path linking organization-based self-esteem to subjective norms enhanced our research model's predicting power. Our study shows that (...)

Consumers play an important role as one of the main actors in food safety social co-governance. To create a pattern of food safety social co-governance, the active and effective participation of consumers is critical. To encourage consumers to participate in food safety social co-governance voluntarily and positively, we attempted to develop and preliminarily validate a multidimensional questionnaire on consumer psychological capital that could be used to measure the degree of consumer participation in food safety social co-governance. The aim of the (...)

  13. Skin Color and Attractiveness Modulate Empathy for Pain: An Event-Related Potential Study.Xiong di YangLi, Yinya Zhang, Zuoshan Li & Jing Meng - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
Although racial in-group bias in empathy for pain has been reported, empathic responses to others’ pain may be influenced by other characteristics besides race. To explore whether skin color and attractiveness modulate empathy for pain, we recorded 24 participants’ reactions to painful faces from racial in-group members with different skin color and attractiveness using event-related potentials. Results showed that, for more attractive painful faces, dark skin faces were judged as less painful and elicited smaller N2 amplitudes than fair- and wheatish-skinned (...)

Application of Sum of Squares Method in Nonlinear H∞ Control for Satellite Attitude Maneuvers.Fanwei Meng, Dini Wang, Penghui Yang & Guanzhou Xie - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-10.
The Hamilton–Jacobi–Issacs inequality is the most basic relation in nonlinear H∞ design, to which no effective analytical solution is currently available. The sum of squares method can numerically solve nonlinear problems that are not easy to solve analytically, but it still cannot solve HJI inequalities directly. In this paper, an HJI inequality suitable for SOS is firstly derived to solve the problem of nonconvex optimization. Then, the problems of SOS in nonlinear H∞ design are analyzed in detail. Finally, a two-step (...)

Can’T Disconnect Even After-Hours: How Work Connectivity Behavior After-Hours Affects Employees’ Thriving at Work and Family.Yang Yang, Rui Yan & Yan Meng - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
As more organizations adopt telecommuting or working from home, the work-connected behavior of their employees during non-working hours increases, weakening the boundary between work and family. However, no study has clearly identified whether and how work connectivity behavior after-hours affects employees’ work and family status. Therefore, using role theory, we explored the mechanisms by which WCBA affects employees’ thriving at work and family through work–family enrichment and work–family conflict, and compared the impact of different levels of support for family members (...)

Window opening behavior in residential buildings has important theoretical significance and practical value for improving energy conservation, indoor thermal comfort, and indoor air quality. Climate and cultural differences may lead to different window opening behavior by residents. Currently, research on residential window opening behavior in northwest China has focused on indoor air quality, and few probabilistic models of residential window behaviors have been established. Therefore, in this study, we focused on an analysis of factors influencing window opening behavior and the (...)

This paper proposes a new manifold-based dimension reduction algorithm framework. It can deal with the dimension reduction problem of data with noise and give the dimension reduction results with the deviation values caused by noise interference. Commonly used manifold learning methods are sensitive to noise in the data. Mean computation, a denoising method, is an important step in data preprocessing but leads to a loss of local structural information. In addition, it is difficult to measure the accuracy of the dimension (...)

Many factors can impact the location data of microseismic events, including natural fractures, rock lithology, in situ stress, and hydraulic-fracturing parameters. The distribution of microseismic events generally tends toward highly brittle areas or areas with brittle minerals. Moreover, location data of microseismic events lack effective evaluation methods. Therefore, we have developed a method to use lithologic information and prestack seismic data to explain the distribution of well Tian Xing microseismic events. We have analyzed the brittleness of the target formation through (...)

Within the last decade, there has been a dramatic bloom in ridesharing businesses along with the emergence of new enabling technologies. A central issue in ridesharing, which is also important in the general domain of cost-sharing in economics and computer science, is that the sharing of cost implies positive externalities and hence coordination problems for the network users. We investigate these problems experimentally in the present study. In particular, we focus on how sequential observability of transportation mode choices can be (...)

An ultradeep, faulted karst reservoir of Ordovician carbonate was discovered in the Shunbei area of the Tarim Basin. Fractured-cavity reservoirs buried beneath the large thickness of upper Ordovician mudstone were formed along the fault-karst belts. The hydrocarbon accumulation in these reservoirs is controlled by the fault system, and the oil-gas accumulation was affected by karstification and hydrothermal reformation. Previous studies and 2D modeling revealed that the reservoirs had “bright spot” amplitude responses like “string beads,” and they have developed along the (...)
