Lack of Improvement in Scientific Integrity: An Analysis of WoS Retractions by Chinese Researchers.Lei Lei & Ying Zhang - 2018 - Science and Engineering Ethics 24 (5):1409-1420.
This study investigated the status quo of article retractions by Chinese researchers. The bibliometric information of 834 retractions from the Web of Science SCI-expanded database were downloaded and analysed. The results showed that the number of retractions increased in the past two decades, and misconduct such as plagiarism, fraud, and faked peer review explained approximately three quarters of the retractions. Meanwhile, a large proportion of the retractions seemed typical of deliberate fraud, which might be evidenced by retractions authored by repeat (...)

Shale heterogeneity is important for micro- to macroscale-quality reservoir prediction. We evaluated the multiscale heterogeneity in shale based on thin-section observation, field emission scanning electron microscope observation, low-pressure [Formula: see text] adsorption analysis, mercury intrusion porosimetry, organic carbon analysis, and bulk chemical analysis by X-ray powder diffraction. We evaluated the results in which the heterogeneity of minerals and organic matter in shale was shown by disorderly and unsystematically distributed mineral grains, lamina, and rapid lithology at multiple scales. The random arrangement (...)

Parameters of Social Preference Functions: Measurement and External Validity.Christoph Graf, Rudolf Vetschera & Yingchao Zhang - 2013 - Theory and Decision 74 (3):357-382.
Most of the existing literature on social preferences either tests whether certain characteristics of the social context influence individual decisions, or tries to estimate parameters of social preference functions describing such behavior at the level of the entire population. In the present paper, we are concerned with measuring parameters of social preference functions at the individual level. We draw upon concepts developed for eliciting other types of utility functions, in particular the literature on decision making under incomplete information. Our method (...)

Treat Floating People Fairly: How Compensation Equity and Multilevel Social Exclusion Influence Prosocial Behavior Among China’s Floating Population.Yidong Tu, Ying Zhang, Yongkang Yang & Shengfeng Lu - forthcoming - Journal of Business Ethics:1-16.
The hundreds of millions of floating people in China who leave their hometown for a new city to improve their standard of living constitute an important phenomenon, but as yet the ethical predicaments they face, such as low compensation equity and high social exclusion, have attracted little attention. With a national sample of 125,626 floating people in China, this study investigated how and when compensation equity influences prosocial behavior through the lens of justice theory. This study found that floating people’s (...)

    A Kernel Probabilistic Model for Semi-Supervised Co-Clustering Ensemble.Yinghui Zhang - 2019 - Journal of Intelligent Systems 29 (1):143-153.
Co-clustering is used to analyze the row and column clusters of a dataset, and it is widely used in recommendation systems. In general, different co-clustering models often obtain very different results for a dataset because each algorithm has its own optimization criteria. It is an alternative way to combine different co-clustering results to produce a final one for improving the quality of co-clustering. In this paper, a semi-supervised co-clustering ensemble is illustrated in detail based on semi-supervised learning and ensemble learning. (...)

Previous studies have reported abnormal amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation and regional homogeneity in patients with migraine without aura using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging. However, how whole brain functional connectivity pattern homogeneity and its corresponding functional connectivity changes in patients with migraine without aura is unknown. In the current study, we employed a recently developed whole brain functional connectivity homogeneity method to identify the voxel-wise changes of functional connectivity patterns in 21 patients with migraine without aura and 21 gender and (...)

BackgroundPublic health guidelines have recommended that elective medical procedures, including deep brain stimulation surgery for Parkinson’s disease, should not be scheduled during the coronavirus pandemic to prevent further virus spread and overload on health care systems. However, delaying DBS surgery for PD may not be in the best interest of individual patients and is not called for in regions where virus spread is under control and inpatient facilities are not overloaded.MethodsWe administered a newly developed phone questionnaire to 20 consecutive patients (...)

Dynamics of a Nonlinear Energy Harvesting System in Time-Delayed Feedback Control Under Stochastic Excitations.Shuling Zhang, Ying Zhang, Zhongkui Sun & Xiaxia Duan - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-9.
A time-delayed feedback control is applied to a nonlinear piezoelectric energy harvesting system excited by additive and multiplicative Gaussian white noises to improve its energy harvesting performance. An equivalent decoupling system can be obtained by using a variable transformation. Based on the standard stochastic averaging method, the Fokker–Plank–Kolmogorov equation and the stationary probability density functions of the amplitude, displacement, and velocity of the harvester are obtained, respectively. In addition, the approximate expressions of mean square electric voltage and the mean extracted (...)

To reveal the mechanisms of firms’ technological strategic choices between innovation and imitation, an evolutionary game model is proposed from the perspective of the behavioral biases. First, behavioral biases such as reference point dependence, loss aversion, and probability weighting can be defined and modeled based on the prospect theory. Second, according to the firm theory, a Cournot or Stackelberg game modeled with a technology spillover effect and intellectual property protection is applied to portray the interaction between firms. Third, an improved (...)

My Own Face Looks Larger Than Yours: A Self-Induced Illusory Size Perception.Ying Zhang, Li Wang & Yi Jiang - 2021 - Cognition 212:104718.
Size perception of visual objects is highly context dependent. Here we report a novel perceptual size illusion that the self-face, being a unique and distinctive self-referential stimulus, can enlarge its perceived size. By using a size discrimination paradigm, we found that the self-face was perceived as significantly larger than the other-face of the same size. This size overestimation effect was not due to the familiarity of the self-face, since it could be still observed when the self-face was directly compared with (...)

Performance-Based Accountability and Teacher Emotions: Role of Zhongyong Thinking.Ying Zhang & Kwok Kuen Tsang - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
Teachers’ emotions may be affected by structural reforms of education that emphasizes performance-based accountability and by individual psychological processes like thinking style, but there is a lack of research concerning the relationship between the three factors. In this study, thus, we attempted to test the influence of PBA on teacher emotions and to examine whether the relationship was moderated by a zhongyong thinking style in a Chinese context. A sample of 402 primary and secondary schoolteachers from Hubei, Liaoning, and Beijing (...)
