Adaptive Sliding Mode Fixed-Time Tracking Control Based on Fixed-Time Sliding Mode Disturbance Observer with Dead-Zone Input.Hongbin Wang, Bo Su, Yueling Wang & Jing Gao - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-14.
Aiming at the problem of fixed-time trajectory tracking control for high-order dynamic systems with external time-varying disturbance and input dead-zone, an adaptive fixed-time sliding mode control algorithm is proposed by employing a fixed-time sliding mode disturbance observer and high-order fixed-time sliding mode algorithm. Firstly, a FTSMDO is presented for the problem that estimating the compound disturbance is composed of input dead-zone and time-varying external disturbance in the higher-order dynamic system, which cannot be measured accurately. Furthermore, for the case that the (...)

Patient Privacy and Autonomy: A Comparative Analysis of Cases of Ethical Dilemmas in China and the United States.Hui Zhang, Hongmei Zhang, Zhenxiang Zhang & Yuming Wang - 2021 - BMC Medical Ethics 22 (1):1-8.
Background Respect for patients’ autonomy is usually considered to be an important ethical principle in Western countries; privacy is one of the implications of such respect. Healthcare professionals frequently encounter ethical dilemmas during their practice. The past few decades have seen an increased use of courts to resolve intractable ethical dilemmas across both the developed and the developing world. However, Chinese and American bioethics differ largely due to the influence of Chinese Confucianism and Western religions, respectively, and there is a (...)

Decision and Coordination of Low-Carbon E-Commerce Supply Chain with Government Carbon Subsidies and Fairness Concerns.Qiang Han, Yuyan Wang, Liang Shen & Wenquan Dong - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-19.
More low-carbon products help fight climate change and environmental problems. Governments consider encouraging the manufacturer’s initiative of producing low-carbon products by providing subsidies. However, when the manufacturer sells low-carbon products through the e-commerce platform, fairness concerns arise because of the profit difference. So, this paper builds game models to study decision behavior in the low-carbon e-commerce supply chain when the manufacturer receives government carbon subsidies and has fairness concerns. Our findings show that consumers’ preference for low-carbon products will be conducive (...)

Robust Stabilization of Extended Nonholonomic Chained-Form Systems with Dynamic Nonlinear Uncertain Terms by Using Active Disturbance Rejection Control.Hua Chen, Xiaoying Sun, Shen Xu & Yuxuan Wang - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-12.
In this paper, the stabilization problem of nonholonomic chained-form systems is addressed with uncertain constants. In this paper, the active disturbance rejection control is designed to solve this problem. The proposed control strategy combines extended state observer and adaptive sliding mode controller. The control of nonholonomic chained-form systems with dynamic nonlinear uncertain terms and uncertain constants is first discussed in this paper. In comparison with existing methods, the proposed method in this paper has better performance. It is proved that, with (...)

The train-set circulation plan problem belongs to the rolling stock scheduling problem and is similar to the aircraft routing problem in airline operations and the vehicle routing problem in the logistics field. However, TCPP involves additional complexity due to the maintenance constraint of train-sets: train-sets must conduct maintenance tasks after running for a certain time and distance. The TCPP is nondeterministic polynomial hard. There is no available algorithm that can obtain the optimal global solution, and many factors such as the (...)

Is Risk-Taking Propensity Associated with Unethical Behaviors? An Experimental Study.Zhi Xing Xu, Yue Wang, Min Zhu & Hing Keung Ma - 2019 - Ethics and Behavior 29 (7):557-571.
Are risk-takers more likely to engage in unethical behaviors? We examined the relationship between risk-taking propensity and cheating in two experimental studies. In Study 1, we examined the relationship between subjects’ risk-taking propensity and their actual self-serving dishonesty using a gambling-like task. The results suggested that risk-taking propensity, measured using a behavioral approach, was positively correlated with actual self-serving dishonest behavior. In Study 2, we measured participants’ performances using a matrices test and found that the positive correlation still held. We (...)

Combination Synchronization of Three Different Fractional-Order Delayed Chaotic Systems.Bo Li, Xiaobing Zhou & Yun Wang - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-9.
Time delay is a frequently encountered phenomenon in some practical engineering systems and introducing time delay into a system can enrich its dynamic characteristics. There has been a plenty of interesting results on fractional-order chaotic systems or integer-order delayed chaotic systems, but the problem of synchronization of fractional-order chaotic systems with time delays is in the primary stage. Combination synchronization of three different fractional-order delayed chaotic systems is investigated in this paper. It is an extension of combination synchronization of delayed (...)

    Estimating Randomness Using Seismic Disorder.Saleh Al-Dossary, Yuchun Eugene Wang & Mark McFarlane - 2014 - Interpretation: SEG 2 (1):SA93-SA97.
The new seismic disorder attribute quantitatively describes the degree of randomness embedded in 3D poststack seismic data. We compute seismic disorder using a filter operation that removes simple structures including constant values, constant slopes, and steps in axial directions. We define the power of the filtered data as the seismic disorder attribute, which approximately represents data randomness. Seismic data irregularities are caused by a variety of reasons, including random reflection, diffraction, near-surface variations, and acquisition noise. Consequently, the spatial distribution of (...)

The phase field microelasticity theory of a three-dimensional, elastically anisotropic system of voids and cracks is proposed. The theory is based on the equation for the strain energy of the continuous elastically homogeneous body presented as a functional of the phase field, which is the effective stress-free strain. It is proved that the stress-free strain minimizing the strain energy of this homogeneous modulus body fully determines the elastic strain and displacement of the body with voids and/or cracks. The proposed phase (...)

Seismic data with enhanced resolution allow interpreters to effectively delineate and interpret architectural components of stratigraphically thin geologic features. We used a recently developed time-frequency domain deconvolution method to spectrally balance nonstationary seismic data. The method was based on polynomial fitting of seismic wavelet magnitude spectra. The deconvolution increased the spectral bandwidth but did not amplify random noise. We compared our new spectral modeling algorithm with existing time-variant spectral-whitening and inverse [Formula: see text]-filtering algorithms using a 3D offshore survey acquired (...)

    Combining Multiseismic Attributes with an Extended Octree Quantization Method.Saleh Al-Dossary, Jinsong Wang & Yuchun E. Wang - 2019 - Interpretation 7 (2):SC11-SC19.
Seismic interpreters and processors encounter ever-increasing volumes of seismic attributes in geophysical exploration each year. Multiattribute integration and classification improve the ability to identify geologic facies and reservoir properties, such as thickness, fluid type, fracture intensity, and orientation. Simple color mixing technology allows us to display three attributes simultaneously. To overcome this limit, we extend from three nodes to up to eight nodes octree color quantization originated from image processing of compressing colors to handle eight groups of attributes to form (...)

Computer-based training has attracted increasing attention from researchers in recent years. Several studies have found that computer-based training resulted in improved executive functions in adults. However, it remains controversial whether children can benefit from computer-based training and what moderator could influence the training effects. The focus of the present meta-analysis was to examine the effects of computer-based training on EFs in children: working memory, cognitive flexibility, and inhibitory control. A thorough search of published work yielded a sample of 36 studies (...)

Banks and enterprises constitute a multilayered, multiattribute, multicriteria credit-related super network due to financial transaction behaviors, such as credit, wealth management, savings, and derivatives. Such a network has become an important channel for credit risk cross-contagion. This study constructs a two-layer network model of credit risk contagion between the bank and corporate counterparties from the perspective that banks do not withdraw loans from enterprises by considering the influence of corporate credit defaults on their counterparties under the credit linkage. This study (...)

From a practical point of view, the phenomenon of asynchronous switching between the plant and the controller is considered and characterized by a finite piecewise-homogenous Markov process. Particularly, for facilitating the controller synthesis, the closed-loop system is transformed into a fuzzy Markov jump singularly perturbed descriptor system by adopting descriptor representation. The present study aims to delineate the working mechanism of prediction in sentence comprehension, by disentangling the influence of the facilitated general memory retrieval from the coexistent influence of the predicted language-specific semantic and/or syntactic information for the first time. The results support that prediction might influence the downstream cognitive processing in two aspects: the pre-activated information facilitates the retrieval of a matched input in memory and, the pre-activated information interacts with higher-level semantic/syntactic processing. More importantly, the present findings suggest (...)
