  1. Families of Rational and Semirational Solutions of the Partial Reverse Space-Time Nonlocal Mel′Nikov Equation.Wei Liu, Zhenyun Qin, Kwok Wing Chow & Senyue Lou - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-18.
Exact periodic and localized solutions of a nonlocal Mel′nikov equation are derived by the Hirota bilinear method. Many conventional nonlocal operators involve integration over a spatial or temporal domain. However, the present class of nonlocal equations depends on properties at selected far field points which result in a potential satisfying parity time symmetry. The present system of nonlocal partial differential equations consists of two dependent variables in two spatial dimensions and time, where the dependent variables physically represent a wave packet (...)

Will Creative Employees Always Make Trouble? Investigating the Roles of Moral Identity and Moral Disengagement.Xiaoming Zheng, Xin Qin, Xin Liu & Hui Liao - 2019 - Journal of Business Ethics 157 (3):653-672.
Recent research has uncovered the dark side of creativity by finding that creative individuals are more likely to engage in unethical behavior. However, we argue that not all creative individuals make trouble. Using moral self-regulation theory as our overarching theoretical framework, we examine individuals’ moral identity as a boundary condition and moral disengagement as a mediating mechanism to explain when and how individual creativity is associated with workplace deviant behavior. We conducted two field studies using multi-source data to test our (...)

Brain Imaging of the Self–Conceptual, Anatomical and Methodological Issues.Georg Northoff, Pengmin Qin & Todd E. Feinberg - 2011 - Consciousness and Cognition 20 (1):52–63.
In this paper we consider two major issues: conceptual–experimental approaches to the self, and the neuroanatomical substrate of the self. We distinguish content- and processed-based concepts of the self that entail different experimental strategies, and anatomically, we investigate the concept of midline structures in further detail and present a novel view on the anatomy of an integrated subcortical–cortical midline system. Presenting meta-analytic evidence, we show that the anterior paralimbic, e.g. midline, regions do indeed seem to be specific for self-specific stimuli. (...)

Convolutional Recurrent Neural Network for Fault Diagnosis of High-Speed Train Bogie.Kaiwei Liang, Na Qin, Deqing Huang & Yuanzhe Fu - 2018 - Complexity 2018:1-13.
Timely detection and efficient recognition of fault are challenging for the bogie of high-speed train, owing to the fact that different types of fault signals have similar characteristics in the same frequency range. Notice that convolutional neural networks are powerful in extracting high-level local features and that recurrent neural networks are capable of learning long-term context dependencies in vibration signals. In this paper, by combining CNN and RNN, a so-called convolutional recurrent neural network is proposed to diagnose various faults of (...)

Archimedean Muirhead Aggregation Operators of Q-Rung Orthopair Fuzzy Numbers for Multicriteria Group Decision Making.Yuchu Qin, Xiaolan Cui, Meifa Huang, Yanru Zhong, Zhemin Tang & Peizhi Shi - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-33.
q-Rung orthopair fuzzy number is a flexible and superior fuzzy information description tool which can provide stronger expressiveness than intuitionistic fuzzy number and Pythagorean fuzzy number. Muirhead mean operator and its dual form geometric MM operator are two all-in-one aggregation operators for capturing the interrelationships of the aggregated arguments because they are applicable in the cases in which all arguments are independent of each other, there are interrelationships between any two arguments, and there are interrelationships among any three or more (...)

  12. Spontaneous Activity in Default-Mode Network Predicts Ascriptions of Self-Relatedness to Stimuli.Pengmin Qin, Georg Northoff, Timothy Lane & et al - 2016 - Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience:xx-yy.
Spontaneous activity levels prior to stimulus presentation can determine how that stimulus will be perceived. It has also been proposed that such spontaneous activity, particularly in the default-mode network (DMN), is involved in self-related processing. We therefore hypothesised that pre-stimulus activity levels in the DMN predict whether a stimulus is judged as self-related or not. Method: Participants were presented in the MRI scanner with a white noise stimulus that they were instructed contained their name or another. They then had to (...)

Disorders of consciousness (DoC)—that is, unresponsive wakefulness syndrome/vegetative state and minimally conscious state—are debilitating conditions for which no reliable markers of consciousness recovery have yet been identified. Evidence points to the GABAergic system being altered in DoC, making it a potential target as such a marker.

Two-Parameter Prestack Seismic Inversion of Porosity and Pore-Structure Parameter of Fractured Carbonate Reservoirs: Part 2 — Applications.Tingting Zhang, Ruifeng Zhang, Jianzhang Tian, Lifei Lu, Fengqi Qin, Xianzeng Zhao & Yuefeng Sun - 2018 - Interpretation: SEG 6 (4):SM9-SM17.
Fractures and fracture-related dissolution pores, as well as cavities, molds, and vugs, provide the major conduit and/or storage space for hydrocarbons in the deeply buried carbonate hill of Hexiwu field, Bohai Bay Basin. The fractured reservoir generally has lower porosity but better permeability than moldic/vuggy reservoir, and it consists of the major part of the buried-hill slope and buried-hill internal reservoirs. The conventional method of characterizing carbonate reservoirs, however, often mixes these two types of reservoirs together because they both have (...)

    Let’s Take the Bias Out of Econometrics.Duo Qin - 2019 - Journal of Economic Methodology 26 (2):81-98.
ABSTRACTThis study exposes the cognitive flaws of ‘endogeneity bias’. It examines how conceptualisation of the bias has evolved to embrace all major econometric problems, despite extensive lack of hard evidence. It reveals the crux of the bias – a priori rejection of causal variables as conditionally valid ones, and of the bias correction by consistent estimators – modification of those variables by non-uniquely and non-causally generated regressors. It traces the flaws to misconceptions about error terms and estimation consistency. It highlights (...)

Linguistic Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Archimedean Power Muirhead Mean Operators for Multiattribute Group Decision-Making.Yuchu Qin, Xiaolan Cui, Meifa Huang, Yanru Zhong, Zhemin Tang & Peizhi Shi - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-28.
Two important tasks in multiattribute group decision-making are to describe the attribute values and to generate a ranking of all alternatives. A superior tool for the first task is linguistic interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy number, and an effective tool for the second task is aggregation operator. To date, nearly ten AOs of LIVIFNs have been presented. Each AO has its own features and can work well in its specific context. But there is not yet an AO of LIVIFNs that can offer (...)

City and Soul in Plato and Alfarabi: An Explanation for the Differences Between Plato’s and Alfarabi’s Theory of City in Terms of Their Distinct Psychology.Ishraq Ali & Mingli Qin - 2020 - Axiomathes 30 (1):91-105.
In his political treatise, Mabadi ara ahl al-madina al-fadhila, Abu Nasr Alfarabi, the medieval Muslim philosopher, proposes a theory of virtuous city which, according to prominent scholars, is modeled on Plato’s utopia of the Republic. No doubt that Alfarabi was well-versed in the philosophy of Plato and the basic framework of his theory of city is platonic. However, his theory of city is not an exact reproduction of the Republic’s theory and, despite glaring similarities, the two theories do differ in (...)

Distinguishing the Virtuous City of Alfarabi From That of Plato in Light of His Unique Historical Context.Ishraq Ali & Mingli Qin - 2019 - Hts Theological Studies 75 (4):1-9.
There is a tendency among scholars to identify Alfarabi’s political philosophy in general and his theory of the state in particular with that of Plato’s The Republic. Undoubtedly Alfarabi was well versed in the philosophy of Plato and was greatly influenced by it. He borrows the Platonic concept of the philosopher king and uses it in his theory of the state. However, we argue that the identification of Alfarabi’s virtuous city with that of Plato’s The Republic is an inaccurate assessment (...)

The k-means algorithm is sensitive to the outliers. In this paper, we propose a robust two-stage k-means clustering algorithm based on the observation point mechanism, which can accurately discover the cluster centers without the disturbance of outliers. In the first stage, a small subset of the original data set is selected based on a set of nondegenerate observation points. The subset is a good representation of the original data set because it only contains all those points that have a higher (...)

In this paper, we propose an integrated modeling, simulation, and visualization approach for designing nanomaterials. Firstly, a fast parametric modeling method for important nanomaterials such as graphene, nanotubes, and MOFs is proposed; secondly, the material model could be edited adaptively without affecting the validity of the model on the physical level; thirdly a preliminary calculation for nanomaterials’ energy is implemented based (...)
