Data-Driven Model-Free Adaptive Control of Particle Quality in Drug Development Phase of Spray Fluidized-Bed Granulation Process.Zhengsong Wang, Dakuo He, Xu Zhu, Jiahuan Luo, Yu Liang & Xu Wang - 2017 - Complexity:1-17.
A novel data-driven model-free adaptive control approach is first proposed by combining the advantages of model-free adaptive control and data-driven optimal iterative learning control, (...)and then its stability and convergence analysis is given to prove algorithm stability and asymptotical convergence of tracking error. Besides, the parameters of presented approach are adaptively adjusted with fuzzy logic to determine the occupied proportions of MFAC and DDOILC according to their different control performances in different control stages. Lastly, the proposed fuzzy DDMFAC approach is applied to the control of particle quality in drug development phase of spray fluidized-bed granulation process, and its control effect is compared with MFAC and DDOILC and their fuzzy forms, in which the parameters of MFAC and DDOILC are adaptively adjusted with fuzzy logic. The effectiveness of the presented FDDMFAC approach is verified by a series of simulations. (shrink)

Computation of Time Delay Stability Margin for the Automated Vehicular Platoon.Xunxun Zhang, Li Li & Xu Zhu - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-10.
Due to the limited band width and congestion of communication channels in the wireless vehicle-to-vehicle communication, time delay inevitably arises and dramatically leads to the disturbances (...) for the automated vehicular platoon. This paper focuses on computing the exact time delay stability margin. In this study, we treat this problem as a stability issue of a consensus system with time delay, where each vehicle in the platoon is recognized as a node, and the interconnected information flow is represented as a graph. Then, the distributed controller is designed by combining the states of the vehicle itself and its neighbouring vehicles. Furthermore, the stability of the entire platoon is analysed according to the characteristic equation of the closed-loop system, and a necessary and sufficient condition for the exact time delay stability margin is obtained. Especially, for the automated vehicular platoon with undirected topology, it is revealed that exact time delay stability margin is determined by the largest eigenvalue of the augmented Laplacian matrix. Furthermore, a rapid method for finding exact time delay stability margin is proposed. Finally, numerical simulations demonstrate that this work generates exact and satisfactory time delay stability margin for the automated vehicular platoon. (shrink)

Source-to-Sink System and its Sedimentary Records in the Continental Rift Basins: An Example From the Paleogene in the Bohai Sea Area, China.Changgui Xu, Xiaofeng Du, Hongtao Zhu, Donghui Jia, Wei Xu & Huan Lu - 2017 - Interpretation: SEG 5 (4):ST35-ST51.
Thesource-to-sinkconcept originated in the study of global change and atmospheric pollution. In recent years, the concept of a source-to-sink system has been (...)widely applied in continental margin sedimentary analysis. In our research, the idea of source-to-sink is applied to the continental rift basin sedimentary system in the Bohai Sea area. The idea emphasizes that the sedimentation dynamics, including erosion, transportation, and accumulation, are considered as a complete source-to-sink system. The sand-rich region often corresponds to a source-to-sink coupling system in a complex continental rift basin, which includes the effective provenance, high-efficiency routing system, and base-level transition. In addition, the effective provenance can be subdivided into explicit and implicit provenance systems in which the implicit provenance system has been shown to be a significant advancement in reservoir prediction for the Bohai Sea area, the sediment-transport pathways and slope-break zone constitute the routing systems, and the base-level transition is one of the allogenic factors that controls the position of the sandstone distribution in a sequence. Based on a large number of previous studies and different characteristics of sequence-stratigraphic models in the Bohai Sea area, we have evaluated three types of source-to-sink systems, including the fault-steep slope, strike-slip fault slope, and gentle slope pattern. In addition, the fault-steep-slope source-to-sink coupling system can be further subdivided into four types, namely, the corner, relay ramps, fault-throw diminishment-type, and valley-type source-to-sink systems. The source-to-sink system of the gentle slope pattern includes the uplift axis valley-type source-to-sink system and the slope-valley-type source-to-sink system. A small-scale, thick layer of fan delta is formed in the fault-steep-slope zone. A continuous braided river delta is formed in the strike-slip fault slope zone. A large-scale, thin layer of braided river delta is formed in the gentle slope zone. The characteristics of source-to-sink systems in continental rift basins are established for the exploration or prediction of favorable zones in the study area, as well as in similar basins. (shrink)

Is Risk-Taking Propensity Associated with Unethical Behaviors? An Experimental Study.Zhi Xing Xu, Yue Wang, Min Zhu & Hing Keung Ma - 2019 - Ethics and Behavior 29 (7):557-571.
Are risk-takers more likely to engage in unethical behaviors? We examined the relationship between risk-taking propensity and cheating in two experimental studies. In Study 1, we (...) examined the relationship between subjectsrisk-taking propensity and their actual self-serving dishonesty using a gambling-like task. The results suggested that risk-taking propensity, measured using a behavioral approach, was positively correlated with actual self-serving dishonest behavior. In Study 2, we measured participantsperformances using a matrices test and found that the positive correlation still held. We found that participants with high risk-taking propensity reported a lower perceived probability of being detected, which might drive their dishonest behavior. (shrink)

Interpersonal Communication Competence and Digital Citizenship Among Pre-Service Teachers in Chinas Teacher Preparation Programs.Shun Xu, Harrison H. Yang, Jason MacLeod & Sha Zhu - 2019 - Journal of Moral Education 48 (2):179-198.
The Internet, new media and social change have created issues requiring digital citizenship education, particularly within the socio-cultural context of Chinese education. Recent digital citizenship standards (...)for education developed by organizations such as the International Society for Technology in Education highlight the importance of this issue. Researchers have explored digital citizenship with some mediated behavioral determinants; however, the critical influence of interpersonal communication competence has not yet been explored. To expand understanding of the components needed for improving the appropriateness of digital citizenship among future role models of society, this study investigates the relationship between ICC skills and digital citizenship with a sample of 905 pre-service teachers. The results showed that 10 ICC skills were positively predictive of digital citizenship. Environmental control and immediacy were found to be the strongest predictors of digital citizenship among the skills examined. These results theoretically emphasize the importance of ICC skills in mediated behavior and provide practical direction for improving pre-service teachersdigital citizenship, which can positively enable the behavior instructors display and convey to their future students. Factors Affecting the Nanopore Structure and Methane Adsorption Capacity of Organic-Rich Marine Shales in Zhaotong Area, Southern Sichuan Basin.Panke Sun, Hanqing Zhu, Huaimin Xu, Xiaoni Hu & Linfeng Tian - 2020 - Interpretation 8 (2):T403-T419.
As a national shale-gas demonstration zone in China, the Zhaotong area has great gas resource potential. However, the nanopore structure characteristics, methane adsorption capacity, and their (...)affecting factors of the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Shale in this area remain unclear. To address these puzzles, we conducted a series of experiments, such as X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, low-pressure [Formula: see text] adsorption, and high-pressure methane adsorption, and we calculated the relevant characteristic parameters, such as pore volume, specific surface area, fractal dimension, and Langmuir parameters by using the nonlocal density functional theory method, Frenkel-Halsey-Hill theory, and Langmuir model, respectively. The results indicate that the nanopores of the Lower Longmaxi Shale in the Zhaotong area are composed of micropores and mesopores, which mainly exist as organic matter pores. The pore surface exhibits a high degree of heterogeneity as indicated by the fractal dimensions ranging from 2.845 to 2.866. The nanopore structure characteristics and methane adsorption capacity are mainly controlled by the total organic carbon content. In addition, the mineralogical composition also contributes significantly to the micropore PV and gas content. The external provenance has a significant effect on the mineralogical composition, TOC content, and methane adsorption capacity. With the increasing influence of the external provenance, the biogenic quartz content decreases and the relationship between the quartz content and TOC content becomes more discrete, which indicates the change of depositional environment, and the clay content increases, which can dilute the OM concentration during the deposition and enhance the compaction potential, and it can eventually result in less gas content. The results of this study reveal the nanopore system characteristics of the Longmaxi Shale in the Zhaotong area and provide further insight into the influence of external provenance on reservoir characteristics and gas content variability of the Lower Longmaxi Shale in the southern Sichuan Basin. Whether or not an intentional explanation of action necessarily involves law-like statements is related to another question, namely, is it a causal explanation? The Popper-Hempel Thesis (...) , which answers both questions affirmatively, inevitably faces a dilemma between realistic and universalistic requirements. However, in terms of W.C. Salmons concept of causal explanation, intentional explanation can be a causal one even if it does not rely on any laws. Based on this, we are able to refute three characteristic arguments for the claimreason is not a cause of action,” namely, theproper logicalargument, thelogical relationargument, and therule-followingargument. This rebuttal suggests that the causal relationship between reason and action can provide a justification for intentional explanations. (shrink)
