I. Introduction Since it first appeared a few years ago, the notion of the Anthropocene has been gaining ground in the field of environmental studies and seems now to be everywhere. Admittedly, the label is appealing, and the news it communicates is dramatic. The success, then, seems justified. However, there is something else.
