Abstract

I have just read — with sympathy, I might add — the new book by André Gorz, Abschied vom Proletariat. Gorz's recent remarks in the interview, however, come as a total shock to me. Initially, I read this book uncritically, not out of prejudice but in order to appreciate the strongest points. Thus, I never bothered to ask myself where this book falters.

Since then, I don't have to read the book again to answer this question. It is the result of the political reaction to the crisis of the systems after World War II and of the decline of the two superpowers.
