Summary
The section of Persikà dedicated to the life of Artoxerxès is in reality the history of the exploits of Megabyzus, an aristocrat who antagonizes with the king throughout his life. The analysis of the source leads us to reflect on the motivations that drove Ctesias to give great importance to Megabyzus and at the same time tells us about some historical and political dynamics of Persian history from the mid-fifth century BC.
