Bernard F. Brennan is currently Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Montgomery Ward & Co. Mr. Brennan had held several Executive Vice President positions at Montgomery Ward since joining the company in 1982. Between 1983 and 1985 he was President and CEO of Household Merchandising, Inc. Mr. Brennan's retail career began in 1964 with Sears, Roebuck and Co. In 1976 he joined Sav-A-Stop and later became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, the position he held prior to joining Montgomery Ward. For his many business and community achievements, he has been honored by the Illinois Retail Merchants Association as “Retailer of the Year” for 1987; by Crain's Chicago Business as “Executive of the Year” in April 1989; and by The Harvard Business School Club of Chicago as “1989 Business Statesman.” He serves on the Boards of Directors of the National Retail Merchants Association and the American Retailers Federation. He is on the Board of Chicago's Metropolitan YMCA, and has taken leadership roles in support of many Chicago area charitable organizations.
