Additional information

Many of the ideas developed in this paper arose as a result of conversations with Franz Guenthner, Lennart Åqvist and Christian Rohrer while I was in Stuttgart in May and June of 1976 on a project supported by the German Science Foundation on the logic of tense and aspect. Mention should also be made of the work of Peter Lutzeier [28] on a possible-worlds analysis of spatial propositions although he was not concerned with quite the same range of phenomena as I am. And of course my colleagues in Wellington have also provided ideas. This paper can be considered a continuation of the study of spatio-temporal modification begun in [12] although I have endeavoured to keep it self-contained.
