Soll Wissenschaftstheorie die Realwissenschaften lediglich korrekt beschreiben oder darf sie sie mit Imperativen traktieren und Normen aufstellen? Deskriptive Wissenschaftstheorien, welche die erstgenannte Option vertreten, haben Konjunktur. Muss das Projekt 'normative Wissenschaftstheorie' verabschiedet werden?

In diesem Sammelband soll die skizzierte Kontroverse geführt werden. Dabei wird der Versuch unternommen, bisher oft verselbständigt und isoliert verlaufende Diskurse zwischen kritisch-rationalen, analytischen und konstruktivistischen Wissenschaftstheoretikern zusammenzuführen.
