이 글은 맑스의 주요 저작인 『자본론』에 서술되고 있는 자본주의의 경제적 운동이 어떻게 그와 동시에 발생하는 정치적 지배와 강제력을 낳는가를 분석한다. 이러한 분석은 자본을 전 사회적으로 모든 것을 지배하는 일종의 ‘경제적 권력’으로 이해하려는 시도로 제시될 것이다. 이를 통해 이 글은 맑스가 정치경제학 비판 기획 속에서 ‘경제적 범주들은 어떻게 권력을, 즉 (정치적) 지배력과 강제를 형성하는가’라는 물음을 제기한다는 사실을 보여주려 한다. 이를 위해 이 글은 『자본론』 1권 상품과 화폐 편부터 절대적, 상대적 잉여가치의 생산에 이르기까지 맑스의 서술을 여러 해석가들의 도움을 빌려 재해석하려 한다. 결과적으로 이 글은 자본에 대항하는 계급투쟁의 개표와 언어가 잉여가치의 직접적 생산자들이 자본가에 대항해 벌이는 투쟁이라는 논리뿐만 아니라, 이를 넘어 자본에 대항하는 보편적 ‘데모스’의 민주주의를 획득하는 방향으로 나아가야 한다는 점을 함축하는 것이다. 이를 필자는 ‘대항정치로서 민주주의’로 명명하려 한다.

This article analyzes how the economic movement of capitalism, as described in Marx's main work, Das Kapital, produces parallel political domination and coercion. This analysis will be presented as an attempt to understand capital as a kind of 'economic power' that dominates everything in society as a whole. Through this, the article aims to demonstrate that Marx raises the question of political dominance and coercion in the project of criticizing political economy. To achieve this goal the article attempts to reinterpret Marx's descriptions from the first volume of Das Kapital. As a result, the article suggests that the language of the class struggle against capital must transcend the logic of the direct producers of surplus value fighting their capitalists and instead move towards the realization of a universal ‘demos’ democracy against capital. I will refer to this as ‘democracy as counter-politics’.
