본 논문의 목적은 “칸트의 취미판단 연역은 그에 대한 두 가지 비판으로부터 자유로운가?”라는 질문에 대답하는 것이다. 칸트의 취미판단 연역에 관한 비판들 가운데 잘 알려진 비판에는 두 가지가 있다. 하나는 『판단력 비판』의 “순수 미감적 판단의 연역”(KU 5:279∼290)이 “미의 분석학”(KU 5:203∼244)의 ‘부록’일 뿐이라는 비판이고(Ameriks 1982; Kullenkamp 1978; Rind 2002; Savile 2006, Schaper 2006 등) 다른 하나는 연역의 결론을 받아들일 경우 ‘딜레마’에 빠지게 된다는 비판이다.(Ameriks 1982; Guyer 1978; Meerbote 1980; Rind 2000) 다시 말해 첫 번째 비판은 취미판단 연역이 필요하지 않다는 것이고, 다른 비판은 연역의 논증이 건전하지 않다는 것이다. 제기된 질문에 대한 우리의 대답은 칸트의 취미판단 연역이 두 비판 모두로부터 자유롭다는 것이다. 제기된 질문에 대답하기 위해 우선 취미판단에 대한 각 비판을 소개하고, 원전의 해당부분을 검토하여 각 비판이 비판으로서 성립하는지를 살펴보겠다. 이 과정에서 첫 번째 비판은 비판으로 성립할 수 없음이 드러난다. 그리고 두 번째 비판은 비판으로 성립할 수는 있으나, 이 ‘딜레마’를 해소할 수 있는 단초를 “순수미감적 판단의 연역” 부분에서 발견할 수 있음을 보일 것이다.

The purpose of this paper is to answer the question, “Is Kant’s deduction of judgement of taste free from the two criticisms raised about it?” There are two well-known criticisms raised about Kant’s deduction of judgements of taste. One is the criticism that the section “deduction of pure aesthetic judgment” of the Critique of Judgement (KU 5:279-290) is merely an “Appendix” of the section “Analytic of Beauty”(Ameriks 1982; Kullenkamp 1978; Rind 2002; Savile 2006 and Schapper 2006). Another criticism is that if we accept the conclusion of Kant’s deduction, we will fall into a ‘dilemma’. (Ameriks 1982; Guyer 1978; Meerbote 1980; Rind 2000) In other words, one is that the deduction of taste is unnecessary, and the other is that the argument of the deduction is not sound. Our answer to the question is that Kant’s deduction of judgements of taste is free from both criticisms. To answer the questions raised, we will first introduce each criticism. And to examine each criticism, we will interpret the corresponding parts of the Critique of Judgement to see whether each criticism is valid as a criticism. Our interpretation reveals that the first criticism cannot be established as effective criticism. And the second criticism turns out to be valid as criticism. But we can find the way to solve this “dilemma” in the section “the deduction of pure aesthetic judgment”.
