ABSTRACT:
This short article aims to examine humor and investigate its role in Eclogue 1.27–35, which deals with Tityrus' non-justified indignation for the deception he believes that suffers in town. The methodology of this study is based on the Relief/Release Theory used as interpretative tool to demonstrate the laughter caused both to the readers and to the characters of the text.
