Zusammenfassung

Die Schrift Metaphysik gilt als das Hauptwerk des Aristoteles und als eines der wichtigsten Werke der antiken griechischen Philosophie überhaupt. Bekannt ist die aristotelische Metaphysik vor allem für die Entfaltung der Ontologie als Wissenschaft des Seienden als Seienden, für die Darlegung einer philosophischen Theologie mit dem unbewegten Beweger als göttlichem und vernünftigem Prinzip von allem sowie für die Theorie der Substanz (ousia). Außerdem findet in der Metaphysik die entscheidende Auseinandersetzung mit Platons Ideenlehre (s. Kap. II.4) und mit Aristoteles’ Zeitgenossen in der sogenannten Älteren Akademie (s. Kap. II.5) statt.
