Zusammenfassung

Die Frage des Liberalismus stellt sich in Russland im langen 19. Jahrhundert ganz anders als im kurzen 20. Jahrhundert. Im Zarenreich galt der Liberalismus selbst als staatsgefährdend, während die Oktoberrevolution eine scharfe Linie zwischen dem bolschewistischen Projekt und liberalen Staatskonzeptionen zog, die nun plötzlich im Verdacht standen, das Ancien Régime zu stützen. Während der Sowjetzeit war die Formel „kleinbürgerlicher Liberalismus“ fester Bestandteil der offiziellen Rhetorik.
