Zusammenfassung

Während seiner Reise ins Jenseits begegnet Dante im Kreis der nicht-christlichen Philosophen dem Aristoteles, der dort als ein Gegenstand allgemeiner Bewunderung und Verehrung hervortritt. Der Dichter braucht ihn seinen Lesern nicht einmal namentlich vorzustellen. Er kann einfach auf ihn als den Lehrer aller Wissenden hinweisen: »vidi ’l maestro di color che sanno« (Inferno IV, 131).
