최근에 많은 인식론자들은 지식의 가치와 관련된 문제들에 충분한 답변을 제공하는 것이 지식의 본성과 관련된 문제들에 충분한 답변을 제공하는 것만큼 중요하다고 지적한다. 본 논문에서는 신빙주의 덕 인식론이 지식에 대한 가치 문제에 대한 해결책을 제공할 수 있는지 비판적으로 검토한 후, 반위험 덕 인식론을 활용한 한 가지 해결책을 제안할 것이다. 우선 2절에서는 지식에 대한 가치 문제를 고찰한 후, 신빙주의 인식론이 지식에 대한 가치 문제를 해결하는 데에 실패할 수밖에 없다고 지적하는 재그제브스키와 콴비그의 반론을 살펴볼 것이다. 이어서 3절에서는 강건한 덕 인식론을 활용하여 지식에 대한 가치 문제를 해결하려고 한 그레코의 논증과 이 논증에 대한 프리처드의 반론을 검토할 것이다. 마지막으로 4절에서는 프리처드의 성취 이론과 반위험 덕 인식론을 새롭게 개선함으로써 지식에 대한 가치 문제를 해결하는 새로운 논증을 제안하고, 이 논증에 제기될 수 있는 반론들에 대한 답변들을 제공할 것이다.

Recently, many epistemologists have pointed out that providing sufficient answers to problems concerning the value of knowledge is just as crucial as providing sufficient answers to problems concerning the nature of knowledge. This paper critically examines whether reliabilist virtue epistemology can solve the value problem for knowledge and then proposes a solution utilizing anti-risk virtue epistemology. Section 2 examines the value problem for knowledge and then looks into the objection of Zagzebski and Kvanvig, which points out that reliabilist epistemology fails to solve the value problem for knowledge. Section 3 examines Greco’s argument for solving the value problem for knowledge by utilizing robust virtue epistemology and Pritchard’s objection to this argument. Section 4 proposes a new argument to solve the value problem for knowledge by refining Pritchard’s theory of achievement and anti-risk virtue epistemology and then answers possible objections to this argument.
