Abstract
This chapter explores the structure and conditions of employment among Muslims in comparison with other communities in Telangana. It shows lower work participation rate for both males and females among Muslims as compared to the other SRGs. Female work participation rates in the Muslim community are the lowest in both rural and urban areas. Beedi-making and tailoring are the important activities of Muslim women. The unemployment rate, according to the current daily status, is very high among Muslims in the 20–24 age group. Participation in Public Ltd Companies is less among Muslims and high percentage of Muslim workers are in the informal sector in both rural and urban areas. Muslim workers were at a disadvantage in availing benefits like social security, paid leave and regular payments.
