Abstract

Reforms carried out by Central European countries at the stage of preparing for EU membership gave them the opportunity to create a solid foundation for local self-government. The experience of the countries of Central Europe is valuable for Ukraine, because our state faces the task of making transformations that have been successfully carried out in neighboring countries. The article analyzes the stages of administrative reform in the Slovak Republic, changes in the administrative-territorial structure and fiscal decentralization, which led to the development of local self-government.
