Injury in the Elderly and End-of-Life Decisions

Abstract

Geriatric trauma is an important challenge facing trauma surgeons and trauma systems. This problem will assume increasing importance over the next several decades as the population of the United States ages. Training programs should prepare the next generation of surgeons to recognize the unique patterns of injury and meet the physiologic, rehabilitation, and ethical challenges of injury to senior citizens. © 2006 Elsevier Inc.
